Thats nice, keep in mind that Kaspersky software was in past associated with russian spy agency KGB so watch out because in one way you are protecting your Bitcoins from viruses/trojan horses but in another way you are allowing 3rd party to your PC.

KGB does not exist under that name from 1993, it was renamed to FSK, and from 1995 until today it is known as FSB. Kaspersky Lab was founded in 1997, and it is not surprising if behind them are some secret service agency. Every app on any device is communicates with owner servers, it is only a question of what kind of data is collected and for what purpose.

Information is the most popular commodity today, and the internet allows collecting of various information from ordinary people, but also from big companies (industrial espionage). Some security software is have option to enable / disable sharing of information, it is mainly about data sharing in order to improve the product, or autmatically sending a crash / error reports.

News about their connection with the KGB definitely have affected their sales that is why they are doin this kind of giveaways. This might also help to regain their reputation back if they maintain the 4 months of free service to be flawless on the user's end which I think is achievable especially for a well-respected anti-virus software. The problem is will users be attracted to a anti-virus software who has been linked to getting their users' data? I know a lot of people will be testing it out but for people who has a lot of vital information and wallets in their desktop I don't recommend you risking your pc for something that is temporarily free.

฿itcoin for all, All for ฿itcoin.
Microsoft windows 10 is alone one big trojan horse itself.

Its hard to be secured in current world. Best bet is to keep your Bitcoins on easy to use free Linux distribution like Ubuntu. You don't need anty virus protection or firewall then. (even on windows you don't need  it, of course if you know what you are doing using it)
One of the biggest reasons I left windows for Linux. That coupled with stupid mandatory updates.

As for the antiviruses, I last used one about 6 years ago, it was Kaspersky but then I realised I don't really need any antivirus so long as my browsing practices are full of extra caution, No unnecessary downloading files and software am not sure of etc. I have never looked back since then.

The other culprit I am trying to ignore is google.

Farewell, Leo. You will be missed!
It is hard to know what these companies do and to whom they send our data and why. I have heard those stories about Kaspersky, I don't use it myself since I have a different AV but for those who like Kaspersky this is a way to test the product for 4 months for free.

Kaspersky is such a good anti-virus I've used it in the past I got it from a giveaway site similar to the one you posted, it's not that I lost trust on Kaspersky it's just that there are much application that I've checked using virustotal and Karspersky is always get it positive while the other has shown negatives on that application I shift to SecurePlus a much better one

Yeah, the entire situation is pretty fucked up:

https://www.theregister.co.uk/2018/09/26/nsa_worker_jailed/

I suppose it could be normal for antiviruses to take samples of suspicious code, but for them to find out that it's valuable is very concerning to say the least. Not to mention it later ended up on the hands of the Kremlin lmao. Who knows what else they could be taking samples of. If you're handling crypto, this should be a massive red flag.

Still, you should do your own research about the situation and weigh your options yourself.

As for alternatives, Windows Defender is actually pretty good:

I mean, if you're handing data to Microsoft by using Windows anyway, you might as well refrain from adding a second company into the equation lol. Using it in conjunction with Malwarebytes is recommended.
