Why metamask when ledger is safer, metamask is said to be a web wallet. You can use metamask with ledger and it will support it while your tokens will have their ethereum private key stored on ledger which is safer.
Safer don't know about that because I haven't used this hardware wallet before, but one draw back which leaves me with no interest in the ledger wallet... I hear it's limited to a small number of erc20 tokens you can use on it,please confirm?? If this is true this makes metamask a better choice, better yet use MEW to access your coins.

If a token isn´t added to the Ledger yet does it matter if I send it to the Ledger, only making the token visible with MyEtherWallet, or should I just keep it in MetaMask?

I´m still a newbie after 3+ years in this game. But I´m loving it. Thanks for all the useful advice guys!
I will suggest you use ledger to store your valuable assets. If you have huge amount of assets, then you should use ledger. Otherwise, metamask is good enough for small amount of money.

Well, one my friend had problems with his ledger wallet after updating. He saw his portfolio, saw crypto on it but nothing helped to output coins on other wallet, except of Etherium. He easily managed to get ETH from that wallet because he opened ledger wallet in Metamask. So it’s very useful backdoor.

I will go for ledger wallet above Metamask for ERC-20 tokens with very high values in as much it is supported. My believe is that Ledger hard wallet has a higher security.

Ledger is really good in keeping erc20 token knowing for a fact that it is a hardware wallet however if you are more comfortable in using software wallet which is safe as well then metamask is also good for it. I suggest that you try both of them so you can check whether which is good in your case just keep in mind that both of this wallet are the best erc20 token storage wallet.

If you can get highest security with ledger why don't you put there instead? Unless you make transactions so frequently that bringing up hardware wallet will add the hassle then you better go with metamask but a web browser extension wallet doesn't sit really well with me honestly.
It's just depend on your needs, but I'd always go with ledger since there's no harm in making your own asset more secure.

The same. You can open your ledger wallet in Metamask by importing pharse. So it makes no difference if you keep it in Metamask or Ledger.
It doesn't even need phasephrase, when his ledger already connected to his PC and metamask can detect it automatically. I'm always using trezor and connect it into the metamask and it's getting synched perfectly.

OP, you can keep it on ledger because you can sync your ledger wallet to the metamask anytime.

MetaMask is the best option for Ethereum and ERC20 holders. It is very convenient for me to work with it in the browser. Nice clear design, it can be easily understood even by a beginner. It is so popular precisely because of its simplicity. Plus MetaMask is reliable, I didn't have any problems with it.

I really do not have a preference when it comes to things like this but it depends on what you are looking for when you are dealing with these. I mean metamask is the best erc20 wallet out there so if your only situation is to have any erc20 wallet the best one is metamask and you should focus on that.

However if you want to make sure about security of your coins that means you want something more safe than just a browser extension, I get that people talk about how it is almost impossible to hack into metamask but they forget that it is easy to hack into someone's computer and steal their data, a simple keylogger would suffice in this case, or even creating a fake app and tricking people into giving them rights to work with that website and when they think they are playing a dapp game you steal all their games. Hence at the end of the day ledger is more secure, metamask is easier.

Ledger is the safest hardware wallet for storing your ERC20 assets compared to Metamask or other types of online wallets. I prefer Ledger because I am also currently using it.
However, for beginners who are just starting out with online wallets such as metamask or mobile wallets like trustwallet, it will be more recommended, but security must remain number one and remain vigilant. The security of digital assets is your own responsibility.

You can find a list of officially supported tokens here. These tokens can be managed through the Ledger Live program
https://www.ledger.com/supported-crypto-assets

But you can use the interface of any of the wallets
mycrypto, metamask and mew to work with any token.
This instruction is for metamask
https://metamask.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360015489031-How-to-View-Your-Tokens.
I think you can easily find instructions for other wallets

I'm not familiar with ledger but can't a user just add the token himself manually?  It use to be this way with MEW but later they did automatically make all tokens appear as long as it's sent to the wallet.

I find it not easy to use the ledger already just reading this thread. Metamask is always been a good wallet to be using and it has everything on it especially since you can connect the swapping platform.

Ok. Do you have any thoughts on why all ERC20 tokens aren´t added to Ledger (Live) by Ledger? I find it messy to store different ERC20 tokens in different wallets.
I am not sure about this, ledger support over 1500 ERC20 tokens, if ledger support ethereum, that means ledger is also support the ERC20 tokens as the wallet was built to function that way. I will suggest using hardware wallet like ledger if you are dealing with high amount of ERC20 token, it is safer because it is offline wallet rather than using web wallet which need more protection because of more vulnerabilities.

You can do that if you want and there's a method of taking out there if you want to.

in my opinion keep the seed of ethereum if u have a lot of erc20 token keep using metamask if fine i think because nowadays much more token transaction rather than ETH itself

Do whatever you want with it tbh.

If it's worth transacting (high value of token and not too much in fees) then I'd move it to the ledger and use mew - they're not too different anyway.
