I've read that Milton was considerably less destructive than expected and that Sarasota
county took the brunt of it with an up to 10ft storm surge, 15 was predicted I believe.

Apart from the material damage at least everyone here is safe and have survived
the experience.

I had images of your collectibles either being whipped up into the air to be flung
in all directions or being washed away in the floods to be found many years later by
metal detectorists!!!

this was our 53rd hurricane at this home and maybe the 2nd most destruction we have seen (for our property).

yea I think it was considerably worse for people further south. Luckily it was moving fast and not very strong when it hit (cat 3 almost a cat 2 when it made landfall)

we lost about 32 feet of fencing (4 sections of 8 feet ea were blown over) its a fence from 2009 though and considering we have approx 2100 feet of fencing, not too bad.

Yes i hear its at category 1 and so far everyone here is safe. Tough times still ahead
with dealing with the excess water.

I just want to wish all the floridians in the collectibles board a safe few days ahead!

I hope you, your family and possessions are going to be safe from Milton.

Milton is the reported to be the most intense hurricane to hit Florida since 1841. Florida is set for a very destructive storm.

it is currently a cat 3 and about to make landfall will be a cat 1 by 8 am tomorrow most likely if not sooner.

I am about 100 miles north of where it will soon make landfall - we are getting some heavy wind and rain.

as for the last major storm, depends who you ask - the one in 1848 was considerably more power than the 1841 as the 1848 carved John's Pass out.

also 1985 was one bad one that tore up most Ben T Davis beaches removing several hundred feet of beach front.

it is all a matter of perspective and location.

Helene did more damage than this one will is my bet.

that said, I had some fun in the rain Smiley
