You can use an extra desktop or laptop to hold your assets.
You can travel more freely with the other computer you use. Do not trust people you meet on the internet, they can offer you good offers and sneak up on you.
It is good to separate exchanges and cold wallets just like you separate two PCs, the more you divide the risk, the better.

Actually op for sure you can read a lot of useful tips right now on the topic you made, all you have to do is listen correctly or properly to those who gave the way to
be safe the assets you have now and for the future as well .

Almost all of those who commented here are correct in what they say and it is worth it to follow, you know that what should be done is that you have an idea and knowledge
about these things as well.

Use a clean PC or laptop when you’re dealing with cryptocurrencies. A separate one is ideal if possible, do not visit any torrent or file sharing websites. Your private keys & or seed are for your eyes only. Common sense & concentration goes a long way to keeping your money safe.

that's right, using a device for crypto needs that is separate from what we usually use for other purposes is important. personally, i usually use my iphone and laptop only for my crypto needs, and for other things i will use my android and pc. because having a separate device for your crypto needs is quite important because you don't know whether the website you visit is safe or not, or whether the application you install is safe or malware, and thus your risk of being exposed to viruses or malware can be greatly reduced.
Regardless of the device you use to hold your crypto, always be careful not to accidentally click on a phishing link. Because hackers can access your device or your wallet at that time when you click on a phishing link. If you do a lot of things with just one device, hackers can lure you into clicking on phishing links at any time.  Therefore, if your holding amount is large, you should use another device or use a hardware wallet. Which can give you extra security

I am sorry, but if a random guy messages you and says that he will give you free money, and all you have to do is give him access to his wallet or download a file, and the victim does it, then the victim deserves to be scammed for lacking common sense. At least that will teach him a lesson. It might be an expensive lesson, but the next time he wont fall for it. Look at most of the scams. They are all obvious. It is just greed that makes them stupid and get scammed.
A recent example is Bitget releasing a couple of articles to inform their users about phishing and a particular malicious browser extension named "AggrTrade". I've seen similar notifications from Binance, bybit also telling their users to be careful
Never download any extensions that you don't trust. Extensions are the most common way to hijack someone.

What have you guys been doing to keep your assets safe though? Drop some comments, let's learn.

Cold storage & common sense is all I’ve ever needed to ensure my coins are safe. Too many people rely on third parties to custody their crypto & we all know the well known failures that have happened in the past. Too many people store their crypto on devices that they use for every day web browsing, downloading files etc which is a recipe for disaster. Stay safe, stay smart because there are lots of vultures out there.

Maybe the only thing I can say is that we should be careful with the exchange we choose, be careful with the wallets we use so as not to endanger the crypto assets we want to keep.

Just put and hide our seed phrases, private keys properly. or back-up for our account wallets is important because those are our crypto assets that can provide good savings in the future.
then our long and short-term assets should be segregated so that they are as rich as they actually are.
This advice is very vital at this moment because this is time everybody claim to be crypto expert, and this is the time people do rush into crypto without knowledge just because they are been told to invest and get quick profit; at the same time, this is the time scammers are using to get good money from newbies who are believing everything that is too good to be true just because they think that crypto is a place to get quick money and go.

We all need to be very careful with the types of wallets we use to store our cryptocurrencies. Let's make sure the wallets are open-sources wallets and let's make sure the wallet is a known wallet not a random wallet from a scammer and lets also make sure we download all wallets from their official websites to avoid downloading clone wallets.
Above all, lets treat exchanges as just marketplaces and not a place to hold our cryptocurrencies, because not your keys, not your coin.

I guess we can only just remain careful to avoid falling victim to scammers after all there isn’t much that can be done. What have you guys been doing to keep your assets safe though? Drop some comments, let's learn.
The biggest issue regarding "security" is we are literally seeing people just giving it away. Too many fools and gullible people in the crypto I agree with that, and this is why there is no security that you could do. What we could potentially have in the future is bigger and better regulations, which stifles the growth, there is no problems with growth right now though, but if they can prevent scammers then it would be fine.

The whole world should get together and make their governments deal with these scammers, if they do a rug pull, a scam, basically steal your money, they should face jail time, and if you can do that, if governments put those in law, then we are going to be fine. But right now, they just steal your money and live their life happily unless they steal so big that they get caught by big governments, so they stick with smaller amounts.

That is not to interact that much in different communities, not allowing me to connect my wallets from various unknown sources. That's fair and easy and it won't take you that much to understand how you protect yourselves from harm.

Those who are engaging with airdrops are the ones who are prone to being harmed in these wallets that they often connect because of such requirements.

One mistake that they make is that they keep their assets on one wallet that they commonly use for funding those transactions and sometimes in providing liquidity which is wrong. Everyone needs to separate their main big wallet or scatter it in various wallets like with a hardware one.
Actually this is really just that a basic stuff but you would really be able to get surprised on how the heck other people do get scammed because they've been really that a fan on trying to click random links online
on which ityou would really be having those questions on mind is that where their common sense been put into? It isnt really just that too hard to understand such basic action or consideration or simply trying out to understand that you must avoid such stuff. Usually because of curiosity of someones mind will really be leading out into those kind of actions on which they've been really that believing that they might be able to get that kind of advantage specially if they've recieved something about having more bonuses or having that first claims before TGE or whatever things that they've been read up.

People do really miss up on trying out to read into the main channels of those projects and they will really be just that eventually be able to learn up things on the time that they will really be experiencing unfortunate events or conditions. Keeping your assets safe is really just that a basic approach but surprisingly there are really that still tons of people who do really mess up these things just because they've been making
themselves that being too careless or being that confident on what they've been dealing into. It is really just that people do eventually learn on the time that they have lost money which they could
eventually be able to avoid it earlier if they had just make use of their own common sense.
It is basic but there are a lot of times that most of us are forgetting that the most basic thing that we have to remember is always being forgotten. And that is because of activeness in the market and that makes them very hyper without considering to take precautionary measures even the most basic stuff.

They like to get to connect quickly without thinking that it could be a trap made for them like those that are into airdrops.

This is very common today with all of the TG apps out there and they're wanting people to connect into their wallets and transact for as man as they can.
We do know that people would really be that only mindful on the time or moment that they are losing up their coins. Due on very basic then we do really forgot on what are the things that we must do or really just that we do become that too confident and thats why it do really ends up for us to have some problems due to some neglection on some very basic things even on how small it is, it will really be putting up the danger on losing up our coins. This is why its really that important that you should really be knowing on how to maintain and how to look up on the possible ways or holes that your coins might get compromised. We do know that on this crypto world on which there are tons of people or hackers who are really just that trying out to take advantage on the moment that they do get that opportunity on stealing up your coins specially newbies.

Dont keep your coins on centralized exchangers
Dont kepp your coins on custodial wallets
Dont keep your coins on gambling casino accounts

If you are really that holding up for long term then you should be having this kind of approach.
You should really be mindful about the security of those coins. Never trust up centralized platforms or on to those wallets that you dont possess its keys.
Always mind about that primary rule that not your keys then not your coins.

Keeping your investments and coins safe is the biggest task. Who wants their hard-earned money to be stolen by scammers? The best way to protect the coins is to use a trusted wallet where the pass keys are only available to you. Don’t save the pass key anywhere online. Don’t download malicious software on your PC, or don’t click on any phishing links. They affect your PC, and hence at last your coins will be stolen. So be cautious and be safe.
I have been a victim of a phishing scheme and I learned a lot afterwards. Thankfully, it only took the e-mail that I used for registering on doubtful website links but it also got the other other accounts on different websites from that e-mail although it's not that much. Still, after that happened I took the liberty of securing my main account because I don't want that to happen again.
It's actually difficult to keep everything safe in cryptocurrencies especially coins and tokens that don't have a cold wallet available and they are not listed in popular cold wallets too so you will have not much of a choice but to keep it in a trading site or the Metamask wallet.
I agree, as much as possible, do not keep anything online. Use a notebook, jot it all down, down be lazy, and keep it offline.

Security is definitely a very hard situation in crypto, most people do have trouble with it and I do not think we are going to see it grow anywhere further unless we come up with a better innovation. We have literally hardware wallets for people to protect their coins better, but people still end up getting their coins scammed out of them instead.

I mean at crypto, you do not hear billions being stolen by force, people do some projects or whatever, and then ask people to invest and rug pull them, or they just go into someone's exchange account, or they find loophole in a casino. Basically when the money is not in a secure place, people try to steal. Most of the theft here for example happens when owner of coins gives it to someone else with hopes of making even more.

That's so much complexity but it's the reality of becoming our own bank.

as for me, I just settle with hardware wallet and save the mnemonic in paper. feels a lot more convenient, no need to be afraid of having virus invading my PC because i don't store unencrypted mnemonic phrase.
also, the experience feels smoother since every in every tx I will need to sign through the hardware wallet, adding additional security layer.

Also, I won't trust any browser extension randomly like the ones that OP stated, I'd settle with extension coming from reputable developer like just using built-in metamask's security feature.

Storing your main asset and portfolio on a smartphone is a big no. You shouldn't do that, even it is your main phone. What you must do is to have your phone dedicated only for crypto because I think that you're able to afford that. Because using your main phone, it also means that you're going from one point to another and you're going places.
Not only are you bringing your phone from one place to another, you are also using it for different purposes which may expose your phone to different risks. Using different social platforms, downloading different apps and software, you never know what kind of risks may those things bring.

Navigating through links may also endanger your device so it is much recommended that you only use your mobile device for crypto alone.
I think there are mobile phone users who doesn't like to bring their mobiles anywhere they go. They can also have more than one phone and they just leave the other in their house as it stores important files. Phones now are still very secure. On top of that, we can put a passcode, so that once we accidentally lose it or it was stolen, it won't be opened immediately and then we can remove our accounts there remotely. If we are talking about malwares and viruses, as long as your phone is not old, it will still receive security patches, so that you are safe from them. They might only be an extra-layer of protection because we might still install the viruses manually.

Phones now are very smart that they can do almost any things that we can think of or a computer can usually do before. This is the reason why people are using it for different purposes. If we are really serious about the security of our cryptos, then it's better to just buy a hardware wallet for them (not phone). You can also save money this way and it gives more sense. As long as we are visiting the known and trusted sites and we already bookmark them, we should be fine. So I won't be paranoid as that can only make us crazy.

Ignore spam direct messages you received on your inbox. Never click anything those fake accounts send you. Make sure to always join and click official links only on every projects you are aiming to participate. And of course, don't join every disponible projects, because some of them can have as sole purpose to scam participants and invade their devices through viruses. Before entering a project, you have to check if it's legit or not. Do your research, looking for opinions and reviews from another participants about the respective project.

Also, never send funds in order to participate or to receive rewards for anything. I've seen some people complaining about projects which demand users sending them funds from their own wallets in order to receive the aidrops' prizes. Avoid it at all costs, because it doesn't make any sense to have to pay for something in order to be paid later...

Clicking on a suspicious link alone is dangerous enough but once you click a link it might not be totally over yet. A website could just be imitating another legitimate one, but you would still have to input some information for them to actually hack you so when you click a link try to look for suspicious signs. If a website seems informal and is littered with spelling mistakes and random characters, most likely it is not legit.
Quote
especially if you are an airdrop seeker, you are very vulnerable to fraud by connecting your wallet to their website and without realizing it, your assets are lost due to phishing.
This is honestly one of the reasons why I am a bit skeptical of airdrops. Itis hard to flush out the scams and differentiate them from the potentially promising projects.
It is literally not that hard though if the seeker for airdrops would get rid of greed and try to do due diligence about the team/developers before getting to participate in any airdrops.  Like if you know this ain't popular airdrop and practically just fewer persons are only talking about it, then it's a good sign to stay off and only hint after those   with a working official social media page that are with large community engagement.

Consequently, if you're after airdrops you should know well not to make use of wallets that you have funds in there but rather a burner wallet where there's little or no funds at all, just specifically for airdrops connections.

Well for me I think safest thing we can do is have control of our coins. We should not keep them on the exchanges unless we are staking them or want to sell then for fiat.
But it is the best for us to have our own keys for the coins. And to keep them on a hard storage like trezor and ledger. Do not share your passwords with any other person.

to maintain crypto assets of course we must be careful not to just click on site links that tend to be dangerous. I always avoid dangerous sites and store crypto assets on my main phone. I use a PC for work and the main phone is only for accessing crypto assets.
Sometimes greed can make us to be clicking on unsolicited links which can lead to lose of our crypto assets. Just imagine seeing a big ads offer online and due to the greed in you, you went to click the link thinking you are going to get free money from such claims, and it ended up you losing your crypto assets. There are so many investors that had made these kind of mistakes and it will be good for us to lead from others so we don't make these mistakes which can be too expensive for us. Scammers are always strategizing look for a new means to steal from careless crypto investors that know nothing about their trick to use bot to trace every of their victims crypto assets.
Therefore, the most important thing in keeping crypto assets safe is to avoid our greed in pursuing greater profits. Not only that, many people have lost all their assets for the sake of a tempting offer so they forget about the risks after the offer is accepted. We have to know about many groups. who are irresponsible in order to trap investors who are crazy with lots of strategies without them realizing it by losing their existing assets.
My advice is that every time there is something that doubts the nature of crypto, it is better to avoid taking good care of the assets that we have because many traders and investors are caught in site traps. phishing them.

Use hardware wallet, and never approve any random transaction from shady website, otherwise you'll be granting them access to your money.

I personally never ever clicked any link on twitter ever, too much scammer impersonating real account that I think it's easy for us to trip and unknowingly visiting their sites. I also routinely checking contract approval in etherscan so that I can figure out if I did something wrong, since scammer drain our money through exploit of approving spending in EVM based blockchain, routinely checking our address' approval can be a good measure.

if I remember correctly, I think there has been some attempt of creating wallet with built-in safety mechanism that give you a warning about some scam and phishing site, even metamask is also giving you warning when you are visiting some shady defi sites.

Indeed, separating Telegram for personal use and airdrop is very important, that way our personal area is not touched by new people who contact us and usually offer something interesting. sometimes even though we know beforehand, one day we do something unlucky, remembering that sometimes accidentally due to lack of concentration we follow the instructions until finally phishing occurs
This is a must, one mistake newbies make is to keep their real identities and their identities as investors linked and this is not a good idea, an investor must keep separated devices and accounts, this way you can monitor very closely what you are doing online when it comes to keeping your assets safe, and reduce the chances scammers and hackers have to access your coins, otherwise you will risk downloading the wrong file or visiting a suspicious website which eventually leads to your coins being stolen.

We all go through this and it becomes irritating when we use same device for crypto and personal use because we are bombarded with the scam messages and now they even start calling you through telegram. We cannot avoid them reaching out to us but we can avoid being a victim by ignoring or blocking them as it's not possible to report them individually as we are added in hundreds of such group.

Because fraudsters will use any means to find their victims and most of their victims are beginners and less careful. It's best to separate personal devices and devices to access everything, especially if you are an airdrop seeker, you are very vulnerable to fraud by connecting your wallet to their website and without realizing it, your assets are lost due to phishing. The point is that the crypto world should not be taken lightly because there are many risks, starting from losses in fluctuating prices and wallet security which can result in our assets being lost instantly, so remain careful and alert to fraud.

as we know, to store assets we need very safe storage, sometimes with today's digital advances, we save them but there are still gaps for fraudsters to get in to drain our assets, it is very difficult to handle even though we are very careful, they have many fraud methods. they learn new things and it continues, and efforts are made to make us much smarter to be able to overcome them, just like the crypto world with the insight we have and that knowledge can help us avoid fraud that happened.

One constant fact that I've noticed since I got into crypto is that the moment a project or a company starts getting popular or begins to gain a huge follower base, it starts to attract scammers like Sugar to ants.

A successful project will be attracted by a lot of people, both newbies and masters in the crypto space. Scammers use that avenue to attack the newbies in a convincing way that they won’t see it as a scam. It’s good to always be aware of the latest scams in crypto, it helps a lot to not get scammed.

Quote
It honestly gets annoying after a while, I can't join a Telegram or Discord group without being DMed by a dozen of them, fake links flying here and there. A recent example is Bitget releasing a couple of articles to inform their users about phishing and a particular malicious browser extension named "AggrTrade". I've seen similar notifications from Binance, bybit also telling their users to be careful

Still, I guess we can only just remain careful to avoid falling victim to scammers after all there isn’t much that can be done. What have you guys been doing to keep your assets safe though? Drop some comments, let's learn.

Not clicking on any link that comes by and be careful how to interact with strangers messaging you to be a developer or part of a project that can make you more money. Nothing is free in crypto, you have to work for it to get it and in doing that, becareful not to fall in scam projects or fake projects.

Connecting your wallet is one of the easiest way to get you scammed, so it is better you don’t do that and if you think you want to, use a wallet that has nothing in them that can be stolen by them. A lot of scam happens in telegram, it’s the hub of scammers in crypto. Lately I’ve been hearing about Discord too, but I haven’t been so familiar with how their scams are taken place.
Don't accept any give away offers because they will tell you to either paste your seed phrase or connect your wallet. Avoid leaving your coins in an exchange when they are idle. Download your wallets and apps from their official website to avoid downloading the wrong one created by scammers. If you must copy paste your wallet address, make sure that you cross check it over amd over again to avoid clipboard malwares, because I just experienced it yesterday when I was trying to transfer coins from my exchange account to my noncustodial wallet. My clipboard was affected with malware and I was able to notice it.

Scammers have many ways they are operating in the industry, but it hard for old crypto users to fall victim to scammers because they don't use to listen to their fake information they use to spread in some social media to deceive newbies.

And the moment you click some links the scammers send, you will begin to see some challenges in your wallet or your laptop that will make you to lose some valuable things in your laptop.

It is better you use phone that you are not using in the social media to use for your wallets, and it will be difficult for scammers to have free access to your wallets.

There are two major thing I always like to secure in the cryptocurrency space because misplaced of your device with those two things can destroy you invest and they are your wallet password. You have to protect your wallet password with all your mind because if some take your phone to make call or check something from you, the person might tempered your wallet so don't disclose your password to anyone. And the second one is your seed phrase if someone know your seed phrase then they can download the wallet app in their phone and transfer everything in that wallet to another wallet and empty the wallet for you. So be careful with wallet information.

Which do you think is more prone to attack, is it your mobile phone or your PC?

I think the PC can be attacked more than the mobile phone. This is why we need to be very careful in accessing sites or downloading things i the internet. Right now they use free plans and subscriptions to draw the attention of people and they also use platforms that are non crypto related to as well create trap for crypto holders.

Use a clean PC or laptop when you’re dealing with cryptocurrencies. A separate one is ideal if possible, do not visit any torrent or file sharing websites. Your private keys & or seed are for your eyes only. Common sense & concentration goes a long way to keeping your money safe.

A clean laptop? I might be in danger then Cry

You should know that anywhere that money is involved, you should know well enough that scammers are going to be present their and not because it's the money that draw their attention, they know that their are people there that are not security conscious about how to safeguard their money and that's their victims they come after. Sometimes, these scammers just happen to be similar people like other investors but because they are smart about how the project works, they look for the loopholes and then use that to extort individuals.

It's because of this scams some projects don't create telegram channels for their followers, what they do is they create Twitter/X account for public announcements and then use Discord for chats since Discord servers can't be clone like Telegram where groups and channels can be impersonated and that can result into thousands of people been victim. Just know that no matter how careful the team are, people will lose money in crypto as some investors are new and don't understand how crypto work until they become a victim.

I've always been careful about crypto projects, be it airdrop, bounty chase, NFT freebies and anything that will make me comprise my wallet and engaged on social media for one task or the other. Except for lately, when I started participating in tapping projects on Telegram, this was because of the success of Notcoin, other than that, anything free is not even my thing because it could cause issues later through various demands or compromises. After this tapping of a thing, I will stop entirely as I can only see that it is controlling.

Do this, or do that is certainly not my thing, but if you do not do it, your efforts will not be maximized, that's the temptation. Notwithstanding, one has to be very careful in the crypto world lately, there are too many projects and they are not verifiable, which makes it extremely risky. Binance has also been issuing a warning on the limitation we should give to any project no matter how true what they preach could be, this is a real warning that should not be disregarded. One could lose enough through phishing activities and other susceptible vices caused by the temptation of the freebies, we should be warned indeed and thanks to you.

to maintain crypto assets of course we must be careful not to just click on site links that tend to be dangerous.
That is one of the major reasons why many of the crypto folks are being hacked. They don't mind clicking unknown links and they think that it's all find and good to check them out. But little did they know, by doing it they're putting themselves in danger. It's truly dangerous whether you are aware of these potential threats by using the internet and that's why we're all spreading the warning to the others so they will do good.

I always avoid dangerous sites and store crypto assets on my main phone. I use a PC for work and the main phone is only for accessing crypto assets.
Storing your main asset and portfolio on a smartphone is a big no. You shouldn't do that, even it is your main phone. What you must do is to have your phone dedicated only for crypto because I think that you're able to afford that. Because using your main phone, it also means that you're going from one point to another and you're going places. That's why you need to be careful if you're storing all of your crypto assets on one device that you bring at all times. While storing it on a hardware wallet or a desktop wallet, you just keep it on that device, you only have to store your seeds with several back ups for your safety too.

Staying safe depends on us if we click on unnecessary unknown links, we will most likely get hacked. Moreover, we frequently receive many airdrop links daily, which we should generally avoid clicking. Scammers and hackers often trap and hack newbies this way. As for storing our coins, I trust only hardware wallets. Coins should never be kept on exchanges unless we are ready to sell them and last but not least always use antivirus.
You should carefully click on every spamming message on your wallet related device for security of crypto assets as most fraudsters spread their net through various mails or apps to steal your assets and steal your assets. Sometimes even with device security apps, fraudsters can set their traps and inadvertently get your device hacked.

All this is ok but are our assets safe in crypto space as well? No that's not true the blockchains have failed to proved their security to the users and we have been seeing nowadays that they have been hacked on a large amount by hackers.

I'm the latest news a japani blockchain was hacked and millions worth BTc was stolen. So in order to make our assets safe who will assure us?
Depends on where you are keeping it, there are some very super safe ones, there are ones that are not that great at all. We should realize that things aren't all that black and white, you can't have one response to everything. Even in the case where one thing seems super safe, another day someone could figure out a way to hack into it, or something that back in the day got hacked into, may look dangerous but could go strong without any more hacking forever.

This is why I think it's quite important to realize that the best way to go would be just being careful and not putting it all in one place. If you can avoid that, then you are going to do fine and the results will come by itself. That's how you should approach it.

Some things I do to secure my assets are:
1. Don't connect the main wallet with unknown websites.
2. do not respond to suspicious emails or messages.
3. Do not carry out transactions without a 3rd party.
Crypto is the most popular digital asset and there are definitely a lot of scammers roaming around here. there is no other choice but to be careful and alert because scammers always have a way to commit fraud.

There will be no smoke if there is no fire. Maybe this saying will be suitable for what happens in some conditions because in the end we will not get problems for our wallets such as getting scammed, drained, or whatever it is that makes our assets disappear as long as we don't fish and continue to be careful in protecting the wallets we have.

We must be aware that everything that is profitable, everyone's intentions will not be the same because in the end there will be a lot of people who will make every effort to benefit even in ways that do refer to criminals.

This also happens in crypto because for those who do have bad thoughts, they will definitely do dirty ways to profit and that is not a new thing.
It's just that in this case they also won't be able to take the assets we have as long as we are not negligent and don't do things that are detrimental in the end so this depends on yourself in the end whether things like this will continue to be allowed with you being careless or protecting and minimizing from the start so that you don't get scammed by continuing to secure and do double standards for your wallet.

This is good when you are able to do it but not everyone has another or separate PC for doing crypto stuff and mostly are using only one device to do every stuff that they do.

So with that, don't do shady things and never visit links that are unknown to you. That's the start of the attack when you do not know what you are installing and what kind of websites you visit.

Also use a separate wallet for airdrop and other related stuff.. different from your main wallet.
Yeah, don't use your main wallet when you're joining airdrops because that might be the reason why many are being hacked or scammed easily.

Because most of your funds that are in there and with one mistake you commit, there's a possibility that the hacker will just use these smart contracts that will allow the wallets to just send whatever is on it as soon as possible.

So, that's right. Use a separate wallet too, don't use your main wallets for those kind of stuff.

Sometimes it's nice to come across posts like this on the security of crypto assets as it's a cautionary message to make me aware of you all. I often get notifications on my device about asset safekeeping in the crypto space to reinforce measures to keep funds safe. Online there are different hacker gangs who use different techniques to trap. However, the most important thing I think is to add wallets anywhere It's  not good because hackers leave traps here. So need to, introducing security measures like two-factor authentication and keeping private keys safe to strengthen wallet security. To stay safe in the crypto space, sometime security sectors are check periodically.

It is very challenging to keep our digital assets safe in our wallets or exchanges. We frequently hear from family members and friends about funds theft and compromised smart contracts of DEFI platform, leading significant losses for many investors.

We should preferably use hard wallet and be aware of phishing sites to avoid such incidents. Additionally, we should only join trusted communities, avoid using public WIFI for transaction purpose, and be skeptical when something sounds too good, better to avoid such offers

This is one of the scary things that I don't want to happen with me. Imagine losing your hard-earned money that you are trying to keep because you want to multiply it, in seconds, right before your very eyes? Ouch. Anyways, I don't think Binance will get hacked, only because of a simple plugin because they are separated from the platform. But maybe the ones that get hacked are the individual's account only.

I think this have happened before but people can't seem to learn from it. Plugins or browsers extensions are not safe as the real app that we use. Binance is much bigger than two exchanges you mentioned there, so it made sense on why Binance are always in the headlines.

I think about the case of counterfeiting in the cryptocurrency space, where scammers take advantage of the popularity of the product to trap users. Like I've come across a lot of X accounts that contain gold deposits (but are fake) to post malicious links, usually people who are easily attracted by easy money will fall for the invitations hello attractive.

I myself have also faced the disclosure of keys on my trustwallet wallet due to connecting to websites that I really don't remember the exact time, but when I lost money, I understood the problem. And there are a series of different attacks, sometimes we don't know because the behavior is quite simple, so don't rush to believe anything in cyberspace, check everything carefully before confirm.

If you are having trouble or scaring, then just put it in a usb and just store it somewhere safe, if you do that %99 security is achieved. The only possible potential way of losing it would be if you forget where you put it, but you could multiply that move and put it at 5 different places if you want, that way you will not forget everywhere, and even if something happens you are fine. I do not really care about these stuff, I find them quite excessive, I just put it on binance and be done with it.

A lot of people will say "not your keys not your coins" but to be fair I have seen a lot of people lose even when they had keys, so I rather keep it safe with Binance which I know could be more trusted than myself, I would be more likely to lose it myself.

You're absolutely right! The more popular a crypto project or exchange gets, the bigger a target it becomes for scammers. Phishing attempts, fake websites, and fraudulent emails are just a few ways they try to steal your hard-earned crypto. The recent Bitget articles warning about the "AggrTrade" extension are a prime example, it's crazy how these scammers create fake extensions to steal crypto. Binance also warns about malicious websites that tricks you into installing malware on your device. Honestly, that's why I'm super careful about what I click on and where I download extensions from. Losing my crypto to a scammer is a nightmare I can't afford.
It's great that exchanges are proactive,  not just for user protection, but also to maintain their reputation. Scammers like this can definitely damage an exchange's trust.

I read about the first exchange article and I was impressed by how they take security and protecting their users against phishing attack seriously. It's becoming a pandemic and I comment their efforts..

Most of these exchanges have their articles giving reminders to everyone that we should keep our assets safe. And even here, everyone is giving our advice mostly to everyone and newbies that we should keep our assets safe as well. Firstly, don’t leave your coin on exchange, no matter how reputable the exchange is, anything can happen to it, and if your coin is there, you might be losing it, so it’s better you always leave your coin in a non custodial wallet.

Second, don’t trust anyone you meet, either online or offline. Make sure nobody has access to your private key. If anyone has access to your private key, then they can steal your coin without you even knowing, so don’t trust anyone with your private key.

Thirdly, you have to be very careful with things you download online, some might be fake, and as soon as you input your details, scammers will be able to access your coins. So when downloading any application, make sure you are getting the link to the application from the official website.

Fourth, if you receive any links from random people, make sure you stay away from them and never click on them.

A fraudster will always exist in crypto circles, they will mimic some of the big legitimate projects while they launch their actions so be careful and always verify carefully before you access it.

I saw the news before where someone used the Aggr extension and lost a lot of money because it was a hijack to your computer, again do not store assets on the computer including the seed phrase it can be dangerous if you experience a situation like this.

Maybe your best move is to separate two different PCs maybe this will be safer.
The fraudsters are more in this year than last year because telegram is the social house or home of the scammers and the invention of the telegram  airdrops in this year has increased the scammers in the social home. And after the Notcoin mining was successful from telegram, more than 20 airdrops have launched their mining bot in telegram and most of them are scammers. So for those who are following airdrops to every corner should be careful with them.
And if anyone is mining with telegram then it is good for him to separate his cryptocurrency most bitcoin wallets from tht device because those scammers are using new mechanism to hack wallet. One of them asked one of my friends to connect his wallet to the telegram mining wallet. And I uninstalled it instantly.

One constant fact that I've noticed since I got into crypto is that the moment a project or a company starts getting popular or begins to gain a huge follower base, it starts to attract scammers like Sugar to ants.

You're right scammers have been using this above mentioned platform to scam people this is why we need to be extremely careful when accesing those platform, however clicking a link that is been sent by unknown person is very risky. because you don't know his intention, most of this scammers has been using this link to hack Facebook account, this is why we need to be careful with those link so as to avoid being a victim to them.

Try to store your assets in a hard wallet like trezor or use a separate computer specifically for storing your assets. Scammers have many ways and tricks to trick you. My friend was once fooled by the new pepenovax project, if I remember correctly. He heard about the meme coin in the community on social media and then he tried searching for it on Google. He found the link pepenovax.com and started connecting the wallet and then his assets were sucked by the website. I don't know about pepenovax is it true or scam but my friend lost about few dollars. Luckily he didn't use his main address and only used the address created for the new project.

as bitcoin is about to halve this year,
Bitcoin has had its halving already. It’s been almost two months actually since it happened however you are right that scammers, as stupid as this sounds, would be even more vigilant and aggressive. It’s the bull run and they know that there is large amount of money in there. They just need to find those and take it. It’s saddening really. Just imagine how much these scammers can impact someone’s life.

Scammers are always lurking in this sector too but small precautions are enough to be relatively safe if possible use a computer dedicated only to cryptocurrencies, do not click links offered in private chats do not make airdrops that require access to your wallet and always check the correctness of the name of the site you visit

It's actually very easy to keep our assets safe, but we often look for the latest information, there are lots of links that we click, but in this case we have to be careful when visiting each site because there are so many sites targeting the assets we have, especially when Following the airdrop, of course we have to connect a wallet, so in this case we have to be very careful

Use a separate PC for crypto-related activities, and do not open any shady websites or links on that PC. Do not store your private keys on your PC, store them offline. Preferably, use hardware wallets for crypto holding if possible.

Trust no one when it comes to cryptocurrency. I know a person, who lost $2k to a scammer, only by clicking a shady link and connecting a wallet after opening the link.
Yeah it is better to use separate PC/laptop for crypto-related activities as far as possible especially for legal/trusted one and surf nothing else in that one. And for other stuff and if want to participate in airdrop, use another PC with new wallet. Private keys need to stored separately most preferably offline.

This is very important for us to maintain in the crypto space considering that every price is very fluctuating as bitcoin is about to halve this year, many emails and messages are coming in without clarity so we can withdraw our assets. We need to be wary of sites or links that come in either via tele or private messages. Please pay attention again, don't click directly, it could be phishing.

its telegram, discord and twitter quite literally infested with scammer these days and what worse is that these scammer used some sophisticated method that could trick so many newbies, honestly preventive measure need to be implemented to some of the wallet that have capability to interact with the dapps.
just try joining some discord or telegram channel like as you said, the first second you're sending message to some project channel that are quite popular, you get dmed by scammer and its not just 1 message there are probably tens of message going through your DMs which is crazy.
as I've seen even when the moderator of such channel are trying hard to ban those scammer, they just seem to have unlimited ways to create new accounts which sole purpose only used for scamming its crazy.
the best way is just to never interact with whatever link those people that dmed us are sending, they are definitely just some random phishing site, never I see once a moderator dm ing the people first because its like common sense right now for moderator to not dm someone just for the sake of preventing being accused of scamming.
there's no real solution to this as of now.
as much as I want things to get better and there are solution to prevent scammers from scamming people, these scammer are akin to cheater in online game, there will be no end to this, our only action to prevent ourselves from falling into victim is just simply educate ourselves better.
now that there are scammer trying to steal our money by the dozens.

for me though, i personally never get scammed even once, since i just never the person that trust easily even more so with some random too good to be true offer popping out of dms out of nowhere.

Yes, of course it is very important to maintain assets in cryoto, especially when participating in Ponzi-type projects. I suggest that you don't have to rush if there is an incoming message either via email. Telegram, and also other inboxes, are very vulnerable to phishing sites that trick us into stealing assets in crypto wallets, so be more careful every time there is a new offer as well as incoming messages.

I wanted to add something about fake links. It used to be easy to spot them with typosquatting, like "faacebook" instead of "facebook" or weird domain names like "metamask.cc." But now, scammers are getting sneaky with punycode or homoglyphs , those are tricks that make letters look the same but are actually different. like this  "coinbase.com" vs "ϲoiɴʙɑse.com" . It's not always obvious, so you really gotta watch out and don't click on anything from shady sources. Better safe than sorry!

Oh, and like others have said, it's smart to have a separate device that's squeaky clean and only for important stuff like banking or crypto. That way, you're less likely to get tricked by a bad link.

In the world of "be careful," let's not forget this always, because if we are careful at all times, the chances are definitely high that the important files we have on our laptop or desktop will not be damaged. And how many times have we read that many of our colleagues here on this forum platform are reminding us what we should do to avoid scammers and hackers?

Let's just follow the reminders that are said in their posts here in this section. For sure, it will help us not only now but also in the future in this field of crypto space.
Particularly, that we are now in the bull season where most of the scammers and hackers are everywhere so let be very careful at all time.

Tbh I've learnt a lot from this thread, but I feel mor sensitization is meant to be done and I'll say it's cool that Bitget, binance, bybiy and some others are posting timely reminders.  Saw someone on X that lost $150k to a wallet hack quite painful..

In fact, I use it to scale projects. If a project has someone who is trying to impersonate any of the team members or even the project itself then the project is excelling. Because no one has the time to invest I something that isn’t working.

What you can do about it is to apply a setting that keeps new messages muted. I’m not sure how I was able to achieve that a long time ago but till today, it muted new messages unless it’s an existing one or you choose to unmute it.

Keeping your asset safe is as simple as not giving anyone your private key and most importantly! Not carelessly clicking on any link sent by a stranger, and not connecting your wallet unless you are 101% sure you’re at the right place.

The only thing I do to keep my assets safe is that I put them in safe wallets, such as Trustwallet, Unstoppable, Klvr, Electrum, etc. And I know there are others that I haven't tried yet. It's also good according to what those who have been in the crypto space for a long time say—that we belong here.

Then Hardware wallet, then I already ordered one from Amazon, and I'm just waiting for it to arrive because I know that the wallets we have are so different that we can say we really have 100% control over our assets.

To not click links willy nilly I guess? It's usually possible to see what the links' URL are if you copy the link itself, paste it into the URL bar but don't enter it yet. Just look it up and you'd see if it's the legit site of the exchange/project you're looking for. There might also be some sites that check the URLs validity for you but I don't really use them.

Also helps to double, triple check whatever the hell you're doing when you're using your login details for something. That's basically the only thing you can do to avoid Phishing. Always use software/extensions from the main website and avoid third-party ones like a plague. If they don't ask for your details then nice, you can use them. If they do, avoid them. If they're open source then you can probably trust them but if not, then just find an alternative or forget about it altogether.

Well that's basically a fact, not just telegram but it also happened very much on twitter. Scammers obviously wants wide audience, a projects who got a lot of attention is one of the tools of a scammer that they can use to scam people by imitating them and lure them into their objective which is scamming. This is why we can see constant reminder from projects and established platforms such as CEXs about the threat of scammers. Scamming industry is lucrative that's why we can see scammers everywhere especially on cryptospace so the best thing we can do is to repel them by using helpful tools that helps us into detecting them.

I'm personally using Defillama extension on my browser and it is really helpful to the fact that it can even detect phishing or fake websites.

We should also learn how to configure the settings on our social media and messaging channels like telegram, discord and twitter to unwanted people, in short scammers from sending messages to us or at least on our crypto social accounts.

I take warnings very seriously, and anything that comes from telegram, discord, or any other social media like X, I pay very close attention to it, as those areas are the best places where scammers operate.

Also, on the side of the email, I don't click on the email link if I don't know the sender. Even if I know the sender and I'm not expecting mail from him or her, I always avoid such links, as we need to be careful of intruders and impersonation too.

Another thing is that one should learn how to keep the gadget they use for their crypto savings away from the reach of others and the constant connection to the internet, as you never can predict which link you could mistakenly click on that can lead to wallet drain.

Use a clean PC or laptop when you’re dealing with cryptocurrencies. A separate one is ideal if possible, do not visit any torrent or file sharing websites. Your private keys & or seed are for your eyes only. Common sense & concentration goes a long way to keeping your money safe.
Safe, should always be out top priority in the market, it's not all about making profits but we should be able to make good stands and safety for our accumulated profits. This will really help us to stay agile and creating awareness towards our colleagues against these phishing links. When dealing with cryptocurrency, we should be very careful not to jeopardize our chances of not accumulating massive gains in the system.

This has been my practice and so far, I didn’t experience any hacking incidents. We have to be more careful dealing with the unfamiliar links and emails because we all know the risk of getting too much exposure and the risk of clicking any links. In crypto, we have to be more careful as many greedy people are just waiting for their opportunity to hack your wallet. Keys should be kept at a safer place along with your hard wallet, better to have your physical back-up as well.

Just as we investors are attracted to projects that have value, so also scammers are attracted to valuable projects too. For exchange to give you such warning it absolutely means they care about your funds safety so, they'd always build sensitive system to track malicious moves in their platforms that's why your wallet is always demanded to be updated accordingly to enhance security features.
You can always have your crypto assets safe when you've anonymous sites, links, emails and unknown DM on suspect of being scam and do stay away from them and also keep greeds aside because it's also one thing that leads investors to scam victim when scammers launches an attractive projects.
Also, you can have your crypto assets safe when you keep your private keys on your own private mode.

If this is too much for your then your best bet is to get a hardware wallet, this is because a hardware wallet will allow you to protect yourself from most of those threats automatically, that being said, hardware wallets are not completely fool-proof, so you still need to be careful about what you do with that wallet, and by being cautious you can protect your coins with relative ease, while you have peace of mind knowing your coins are much harder to steal.

that's right, using a device for crypto needs that is separate from what we usually use for other purposes is important. personally, i usually use my iphone and laptop only for my crypto needs, and for other things i will use my android and pc. because having a separate device for your crypto needs is quite important because you don't know whether the website you visit is safe or not, or whether the application you install is safe or malware, and thus your risk of being exposed to viruses or malware can be greatly reduced.

First of all, close DMs on Discord. Also, a good point is to be careful not to connect your wallet and sign every transaction. Use a burner wallet instead!
Also, use an extension or wallet that will show what the transaction will do!

Pretty normal to see that since scammers will come on where they think they can earn money so expect that lots of them would try their best to fool people around so you need to be aware of their schemes used to avoid getting scam.

Also avoid those pm since legit people will not send any offer via direct message and usually those people doing that are the scammers.

What is important here is you should never deal with people which have questionable intentions. Also always use dummy wallets if you want to transact people online or direct to the platform. Also the last one make sure you have multiple devices to use so that there's no way for those scammers to penetrate and separate all important details to on and use the other gadget for exploring those risky situations and provably with that you will be safe from hack and scams.

These scammers need a larger platform for more chances of success. Scams nowadays are not hidden in secret but rather are exposed everywhere instead. In plsces where typically you’d think no malicious activity can penetrate through. Scams like phishing links have become such a norm nowadays that it’s even made it more dangerous.

I still believe that a reliable and secure platform is your best bet. More attacks would be trying to get through its walls but due to its high technology and advanced security, I’m more confident in storing my assets in a highly secure wallet.

Make it also a hobby to learn about becoming technology and information literate. Learn how to successfully detect possible scams simply by knowing reliable sources and domain names. If you’ve never heard of its domain link then maybe double think before clicking.

Yes, that's correct. The communities of crypto projects, companies, and platforms are not free of scammers. Scammers set their eyes on any event launched by any project, such as airdrops, giveaways, or any of the competitions and other events, and they create phishing sites, fake accounts, and fraudulent programs and browser extensions to target investors and traders and scam them.

If your assets are in an offline hardware wallet and you don't use your computer that has Telegram and Discord installed on it and which doesn't contain any important data related to your investments or wallets like seed phrases, private keys, backups, etc, to open any links or download any malicious files and malwares from people who DM you first or from your email, and if your browser has one of the security browser extensions, you will be safe. You need not trust strangers, ads, or websites promoted on search engines or social media. Do your own research and bookmark the official sites of the platforms you regularly visit.

Here are few that I can think of right now,

1. Do not click any link, specially from unknown source
2. Do not used pirated software
3. Do not trust anyone you talk to in the internet, specially too good to be true offers
4. Do not used Windows, it's better if you are going for MacOS or Unix based
5. Used Hardware wallet
6. Do not back up any of your private key or mnemonic phrase in the Cloud

One constant fact that I've noticed since I got into crypto is that the moment a project or a company starts getting popular or begins to gain a huge follower base, it starts to attract scammers like Sugar to ants.
