The only reason you know anything about the crime is journalistic reporting. Not much time is spent on research, and there's a huge effort to get a story on line before anyone else. It's too easy to interview neighbours and then add an "eye witness" report to the mix. The resulting story may have no factual content at all.
That is so implausible, its crazy. A journalist would have to be on crack to report stories like that. Not to mention they wouldn't have a job for very long.
There are no more journalists any more. Only "reporters," which operate exactly like that, when they're not just hitting "play" on a package that one or another government agency supplied to them.
Absolutely correct. Some reporters may have journalistic integrity, but many of them are bloggers. The rest focus on whatever will bring ratings and let them keep their jobs.
