Tried isolating the card, both pci slots, shot air each and every which way through the card, different power connectors even, still overheating.  Going to RMA.  Thanks for help  Smiley

I will try to clean out dust but the card is only 25 days old

All I'm saying is that the card is overheating. That is a fact.

I doubt it is a manufacturing defect. Run the card without the other in place and see what the temps are/what hash rate is.

fan is at 100%...other card is in exact same environment/settings and not having this problem.

also should note that the temps on the card with the issue are fluctuating a bit between 80-90C...when the card is running at 180mhash/s card is at 90c and when at 315mhash/s it is at 80c.

Clean it out for dust. The VRMs are overheating, it causes the cards to downclock.

The card isn't bad, you're overheating.

Sigh....65C on the good card and 91C on the one with the issue.

Just swapped their positions in the box as well and having the same problem also.  Ah well at least the card is still within rma period...now to see if newegg has any more 5850's in stock to replace it with ><

Ugh, now its going even slower, around 178-180 mhash/s average...could this be a sign of card going bad?  I don't have artifacts when playing games at all and everything else seems to run fine...

I have two 5850s, they each mine usually at around 315 mhash/s, recently the one has been dipping down to 215 mhash/s for several minutes at a time.  I tried switching mining pools and this did not fix the issue.
