There is always a risk, but you can download from relatively safe sources.

I think a few bucks is no big investment for most people, and by that, I mean on our forum marketplace/digital good board where anyone can buy keys/license for many software, which includes Windows licenses. While this may still be a practice in some parts of the world, time of cracked software and even torrents for me is actually becoming a thing of the past.

It was certainly influenced by the fact that I own cryptocurrency, but also is again connected with the possibility of buying cheap licenses and paying them with BTC. Very fast internet solved the problem of torrents, it's much easier to view content without downloading it.

You can see here that microsoft office costs 99 uSD per year. This is not a few bucks , specially outside USA.
https://products.office.com/en-us/compare-all-microsoft-office-products?&activetab=tab%3aprimaryr1

I think it is relatively safe to piracy those products,  but I had an opportunity to buy an original one for a few bucks (but that was  lucky)

Is it safe to use kms activator while you use a QT bitcoin wallet on windows?
can kms activator stole your private key?

Everyone threats KMS activator like some kind of virus well its not and your bitcoin wallet is safe, i used my cracked windows setup since 2013 and i have multiple wallets on my PC till date no single coin lost

What you say is true but I think the point being made is related to where you actually download the KMS activator from. For example, there have been cases where crypto and non-crypto related software updates have been added to Git by unscrupulous coders which contained malware - hence the concern. There are too many downloads available from so many websites that could contain a virus or other hidden codes.

I suppose it would come down where you downloaded the activator from and what others using it are saying about it in online reviews. I have not heard of any KMS activators being used for hacking wallets but as a precaution it should be avoided.

Go for a cheap OEM key. You can get them for usually 5 bucks or so, also download the Window's ISO from Microsoft itself. Don't use any torrents for getting the ISO itself, you can never be sure with those ISOs.
Use this website to download: https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows10ISO

Also, it will make you download their shitty "download tool" however you can get the link to direct ISO file by doing the following.

1) Visit the URL I mentioned above.
2) Open your console F12 usually works on Chrome.
3) Enable "Device Toolbar". See image 1.
4) Change your Device to an iPhone or iPad. See image 2.
5) Refresh the page. After the refresh, you will see an option to select your windows ISO file. Just choose the latest version and choose the appropriate version for your CPU, x64 bit or x86 bit. Whatever works. You should get the direct ISO link this time. Use this ISO when you activate your windows.

Why the hell you need activator at all? All those are infested with malwares, viruses, Trojans... Windows is soo poorly designed that you can use many legal backdoors to activate it for free.
There was a common W10 serial number that was used for all the upgraded old windows and worked on all devices. You can even build you own windows license server and activate your own W10... You really don't need any activator.

I have been using Linux for years and never looked back. If you are using your personal computer for just the crypto and internet. Linux is a better choice than windows. Linux is also good for watching videos and listening to music and better for steam gaming. The only downside I've encounter are the microsoft office alternatives are not that advanced.
Linux is by far very worse than Windows when we talk about gaming. The only reason I still have a dual boot at my home PC is that I also want to game from time to time, and Linux still sucks a bit in this aspect. It got better, but Windows is still the master of compatibility.

Also, I agree that Linux should be the norm for these who can manage it (and don’t require any specific Windows/MAC-only software like Photoshop). But suggesting them for random people isn’t that simple. Do you think the regular Joe can use the terminal and type codes? Some distros are very user-friendly, but Linux is in overall, harder than Windows (I say this because I started somewhere in this area, and I already studied programming at the time).

In my case, that activator did not cause any problems on my OS, and especially not the hacking problems that would involve the loss of crypto. Any software may contain something malicious, whether it is completely legal or as in this case completely illegal. Very often, with this kind of software comes some malware, so I would not recommend it to those who have desktop wallets and significant amounts of coins.

In my case, KMS is on OS when I still use Electrum desktop BTC, and few more forks of Electrum (BCH,LTC), which was certainly not a smart move, but luckily it went away without any bad consequences.

There is always a risk, but you can download from relatively safe sources.

There is the /r/piracy subreddit where you can see topica with over 10k upvotes of safe kms activators for different windows sofrwares

I used for some time the Microsoft office ones, as office is very expensive (fortunately I was able to buy it very cheap in a promotion few months ago).

I didn't have any problem using kms as well. I recommend that subreddit for my poor third world fellows who can pay thousands of usd for a text editor or a photo editor Wink

The answer is it depends. Some time ago my relative download a kms activator that also installs malware on their system, so it's pretty much destroying their system. On the other hand, most of the time it's 'safe'.

Why people still want to pirate windows?!

I've just wrote in another thread: last time I've used an activator (some years ago), after using it, I've found newly downloaded things and set in registry to start with Windows.
I wouldn't risk using wallets on such a Windows.

Windows 10 you can download for free, you can keep it not activated for ever and only some look/desktop things cannot be changed (and the watermark).
If you insist on having Windows pirated, then write latest Tails OS onto an USB stick and boot from that when you need to use your coins. It has Electrum on it, so you have only to put in (always) the seed.

Why are you people making this sound as a big issue? I have always been a free windows user with KMS tool and yes i have various wallets on my PC, i never have any problem till date and there is no record or history online about people having issue with bitcoin wallet because of KMS activation software

If you get KMS from clean source maybe it safe. But, we can see thousand blogs over internet share this tool. If users not caring about where they are downloading files, of course it's very possible they are downloaded KMS with malware or any viruses.

Prevention here is better than cure would you really want to be the first victim here since all you are seeing are positive feedback from them? We aren't sure that the free pirated copy you have for Windows is safe or has the potential to have vulnerabilities and we aren't sure that the KMS activator you downloaded comes with malware or not so why risk your crypto and other private information just to get that pirated copy of Windows? It simply makes no sense as the risk you have will be due from your own carelessness.

I wouldn't risk it if I were you. If you need Windows then double booting with Linux is probably one of the options. Use QT and related crypto software on Linux and plays on Windows.

Is it safe to use kms activator while you use a QT bitcoin wallet on windows?
can kms activator stole your private key?

Why hustle bypassing windows activation system when there is linux?

Anyway kms activator is harmless as of now, Most people have used it without issues of information theft so far but of course windows will always warn you that it's harmful because it's bypassing their activation system. However, to be on a very safe side, avoid the activator at all costs. When it comes to money and wallets, anything can happen and hackers can do anything to get that money of yours.

So always have it in mind that Kms activated OS =  Unsecure OS.

KMS are illegal software may stolen your information.

https://www.2-spyware.com/remove-kmspico-virus.html

You have to remove it ASAP and change your private information to your wallet.

better to use https://www.linux.org/ for Operating System even as free and open-source when you use for website and wallet only.

Running any wallet on an Internet-connected system with other software installed is just playing with fire - there's always a chance that some program, including kms activator or the system itself or some third party software, can be malicious and try to steal your coins in one way or another. Everyone should use a cold storage setup or a hardware wallet to completely isolate their crypto from potential threats and sleep well without worrying about malware.

I used KMS activator for long time (for MS office, which is very expensive )and never had problems with anyone trying to hack me.
However , I use a hardware wallet.

I recommend that you buy one as well. Using a hardwallet you are 99.9% safe (maybe even more)

I wouldn't risk using a cracked version of Windows as my operating system for my bitcoin wallet knowing that nobody knows how many backdoors are installed in such operating systems and the mere fact that it's easy to mask some things as normal Windows processes nowadays and Defender wouldn't be able to distinguish it right away.

Don't cheap out on your operating system. They come in cheap at eBay now and retails for about $10 - $50 depending on what version of Windows plus the nature of the product key that you'll be buying.

Thanks, I removed KMS from my system, Am I safe now?
Or I have to change my wallet and private key?

Removing it isn't always enough. Buy a legitimate copy of Windows and do a fresh install on your hardware. This will settle things out and ensure that no leftover software junk resides on your C:\ drive.

Even though anti-viruses detects this as a virus/malware yet is not as mentioned by previous users I still wouldn't used KMSPico nor have my PC be installed with a cracked/pirated copy of Windows or Microsoft Office, you really don't know what will be coming for you if you will install this free items online and it will be too late for you to find out. These types of software are really not to be trusted with your system and I don't think it is really worth risking your pc and other valuable information just to save a few dollars from buying the real thing. So if you want to save yourself from some potential headache from a potential vulnerability in the system my advice is for your to purchase the real thing rather than find the crack version of it, even if it is a trusted service/software for a crack file I wouldn't recommend it to you.
