Remember, the aim is to let more people know about bitcoin.
I agree with the following comment [I didn't include other posts that were discussing other things]...
- I've seen a lot of things that have nothing to do with BTCitcoin and it appears you've used Cryptocurrencies in general as a way to increase your content [with bits of information in regards to BTCitcoin].

I would have expected an app called 'know bitcoin' to be more specific, rather than 'what is cryptocurrency?', ''what is Bitcoin?' could be used.
Without going into details on the content, I find that there is a fair share of explanation on ERC-20 in a Bitcoin App (just like there is on this Bitcointalk forum you could say …).

11Mo is too much for a simple app like this.
Not sure if I'm missing something but it says "53M" now [which is a lot as you mentioned].
- @Chris Barth: What did you add that it lead to this significant boost in size?

It takes a very long time for each news/article to load...
- I'm not a coder but are you using an iframe of some sort?

Regarding the app size, there are different screen
resolutions. For my own device, the app size is about
13MB. 53MB is the addition of all screen resolutions. Use
the play store app when downloading so it will download for your device's resolution only.

On my own end(tested with 3 of my different devices), the news loads in just a few seconds but the snapshot and the news in details. Please confirm if you have a strong network connection. And no; I am not using frame. Thanks.

Only a bit convenient compared to a website like (for example) bitcoin.org which wouldn't make much difference, and most importantly, there's lower chance of encountering malwares-- it's the reason why ive been very wary of installing apps on my phone. A website basically is just easier to commit and it works just as good, no reason to go for an extra mile for this.

I wouldn't call myself a pro, I just understand the basics. I've been recommending websites to start with to people who are at the same place as me years ago when I decided to dive into cryptospace plus it could be a good refresher. So I don't think it's for newbies only.

When downloading the app, the first thing that brought my attention is its size. 11Mo is too much for a simple app like this. You may consider releasing a newer version with a more customized code / compressed images to make it lighter.
In the quiz tab, I was expecting it to be more interactive, when you click on the question you will directly get the correct answer. It would be more funny to let the user guess the correct answer to test his knowledge.
Also, it would be great if you let the user specify from which sources the app gets the latest news in the news tab.

Thanks for the suggestion... I will see if this is feasible...

All the comments talk about a lot of mistakes through the first image you display, so I expect the content to be much less quality.
Why not ask the forum to help you develop content, as you can quote some posts from here and put them in your application.
Also, if you are not sure of any information, do not shear it, as this will reduce the interest of others in your project.
the possibility of visiting a forum is greater than downloading an application, so it is better to set up a site rather than focus on that application.

I really hate to see crypto bounty on an app like "Know Bitcoin" since bounty has nothing to do with bitcoin. I guess it would be pretty good to remove that option and filled with more information on bitcoin or crypto in general as people will download it to learn about bitcoin. Will download the app and check later.

But do we really need an app for this? Even if the content gets a complete revamp, I'd still pick a website which works flawlessly using the web browser on my phone (we already have lots of it).

we are on the age where apps are dominant  . people left and right likes to use and download apps on thier gadgets  . this can be the way for people to encounter bitcoin if they never see it before because they dont know where to get started or too lazy to search the web .

An app will just make it a bit convenient, I don't see why it should be a reason for me to install an app on my phone.
thats it . for convinience but why you wouldnt ? you wont be needing it anyway because you seem to be a pro already on bitcoin .  only newbies are gonna be needing an app like this .

Sorry, I can't download it because of my IOS, so better to think about developing this app for apple products (oh it costs a lot).
Appreciate the effort that you put into it but the app needs a lot of improvement and first of all, start with UI (What attracts you at first? Appearance).
I had the same idea in past and I think it will be really good to release it, will write about it in some days/weeks. I think community should make such APP but more professional and elegant and these content should be available in different languages. It also mustn't be only information but quizzes, tests and some entertainment.

You could also use bitcoin wiki because content is under Creative Commons Attribution 3.0

One thing I haven’t sussed out is the use of the "To get connected, Fill the form" (there’s also a "Do you have any challenge? Ask!" form). Both require name and email, and that is one thing to be wary of from a user’s point of view (we normally recommend not providing real names nor usual emails explicitly around here). There is no explanation on the form as how this information would be treated.

Honestly speaking, nice effort bud but why is bounty hunting on the front page of the app?

I suggest that the app should have a lot of complex explanations or definitions about cryptocurrency instead of teaching a user on bounty hunting.

I mean, there's nothing wrong with bounty hunting but for me, cryptocurrency for bounty hunting is a wrong perspective. An application like this should taught a user how does market works and when is the right time to invest in cryptocurrency.

In addtion to what LeGaulois commented, wallets only store the keys (private keys and public keys). To access the bitcoin on blockchain, you need to have private key to a corresponding address(es) on wallet to unlock the bitcoin on blockchain. I hope this is clear.

Cryptocurrencies are digital currencies, example is bitcoin. Not a way to transfer or hold money.

Cryptocurrencies  are not ponzi, some can be scam but strong ones like bitcoin are not scam and are not ponzi.

You app is absolute rubbish. It needs a lot of corrections before you totally mislead people.

OK... Thank you.

Referencing what others (accurately) said above about wallets, I think the issue with these knowledge base articles is that they need to be structured very carefully into several layers of depth.

In your defence, I think there are merits for starting with something like yours in ELI5 language, which has its merits for the newcomer who would otherwise be confused by more technically accurate language. I mean, any kind of digital money doesn't really keep money in a wallet, not even PayPal, but that's how they'd explain it!

If you read a book about science for 5-year olds, rain comes from clouds and the sun makes plants grow. It's a huge oversimplification, but necessary as a first step.

So your app could be that, if that's your intent. But this needs to be made clear, with layers of knowledge to the same aspect, of a wallet, for example.

I commend the effort you must have put in to get it to this stage, but I think some corrections needs to be made.
Firstly, I haven't downloaded the app, I searched directly but couldn't find any information about it on their store.
Looking at the picture, I would have expected an app called 'know bitcoin' to be more specific, rather than 'what is cryptocurrency?', ''what is Bitcoin?' could be used. Bounty hunting also is not related to the Bitcoin network.

Some of the definitions are either inaccurate or not holistic enough; The first answer for example, your explanation simply defined what digital currencies are, crypto is coined from cryptic and is linked with privacy and secrecy, so it's technically different from a basic digital currency. There is lots to be corrected or removed from that screen grab and this is only the first page.
Did the app go through a beta testing phase were it was checked and verified?

Congrats on making an app and congrats for getting it approved . Honestly well done   Smiley
May I make a couple of suggestions though
1. Bounty hunting with Bitcoin is such a small part of the bitcoin landscape , it may be worth NOT mentioning it at all.
2. Putting the word SCAM on your app will only have negative connotations for bitcoin. I understand why you’ve put it there , but personally I’d remove it .
Hopefully you can take this as positive criticism and again kudos to you  Smiley

Bitcoin needs to be mined using a computer system. There is no participation in the bounty program to create bitcoin.
Bitcoin exists on the bitcoin blockchain network, it doesn't exist in your app or phone.
Maybe you should do some careful research before coming up with an app like this.

Bitcoins aren't stored in wallets, it's recorded on a distributed ledger (the blockchain) and the wallet is what allows the user to move the coins from address A to address B, using cryptography.
If the bitcoins were stored in a wallet, we could just duplicate our wallet to double our bitcoins.

This is a misconception and at the end, it confuses the newbie to understand correctly.

Bounty program: isn't part of Bitcoin, I would never include it in the app. It's like if you're telling to people "free money comes with bitcoin"

Hello! After I got suggestions from my fellow community members here on bitcointalk, I fine-tuned the 'Know Bitcoin' app by adding lots of features that doesn't bore users(tho it isn't as easy as it sounds). Adding to that, I am most pleased to tell you that app has been approved by Google Play Store!! Remember, the aim is to let more people know about bitcoin. Not just to know but to know the truth (the good and bad).

The app was verified a few hours ago... Be the first to download it! https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=capps.knowbitcoin
