I think God will not be angry about anything connected to bitcoin, really. You can sleep just fine. If internet is kosher so is bitcoin.

This is probably the 1st time I heard about kosher money.

What hes saying is true, this is how the 1st banks were created in medachi, and the royals did.

Also fyi the 1st stock exchange was made in london, while were talking about finance.

What is Kosher Money?

Google it. Stricts Jews have religious laws that they have to abide by.
Islamic law has similar rules, there have been a few threads on it and they came to more or less the same conclusion, bitcoin fits in with the laws but needs approval from the relevant groups before it can be called Kosher. Fwiw bitcoin could also be considered constitutional (US) for more or less the same reasons it could be considered Kosher and fiat currencies are neither constitutional nor Kosher.

I think people should make their own minds up rather than just going to advice from 'relevant' groups. What understanding of bitcoin will some sort of Muslim or Jewish Council have? What if they say it shouldnt be used when there's no real grounds for them to say such a thing?

Is bitcoin Kosher Money?

I know Jews cant charge interest against themselves; only others.

Considering all money is loaned at debt; charging interest. Does that mean Dollars are not Kosher?

if we get approval from a Rabbi can we put an OU symbol on bitcoin products?

The person, who introduced the very concept of Kosher money, probably thousand years ago, had no idea what P2P is and how Digital Currency may work. It needs a new religion to be written to accept bitcoin as a medium of exchange. So rather than appealing to a Rabbi, u may use the opportunity to promote your own religion Smiley

That's a very tricky question.  It's a digital currency to begin with.  The concept of Kosher predates a lot of stuff like computers . . .

I use my miners to dehydrate pork, be sure to mention that to the rabbi when he asks about how bitcoins are made. Also I work them extra hard on the Sabbath.
