A lot of the exchanges dont have a clear plan for the fork, we saw the same with the earlier one... some making statements then reversing their policies within days/weeks. These are uncharted waters, so expect to see these kind of decisions made regularly.

Hello folks,
i would like to discuss with you this news from Kraken exchanger:

They posted 16h ago a twit stating they would NOT support BTC gold, then they changed their mind with another twit and then destroyed the plans of tons of people who deposited their BTC to them.
I've been using kraken for long time and it always seemed reliable, stable, with a good volume of transaction for BTC and altcoins, now they came out with this amazingly... stupid statement.
People now are going crazy and i guess in the next couple of hours many investors will move out of this exchanger for another one.
Right, it's not the end of the world for me because i had just some dust in there but this is not acceptable anymore (at least for me) and the statement "we might reconsider it later" it smell fishy, very fishy.
At this point i would like to ditch this exchanger and find a new one with some good volume of transaction to do some trading (keep in mind i don't own much), any advice will be appreciated!

Well that's sad. Lol.
Maybe they saw how trashy bitcoingold is that's why they refuse to support it.
But the strange thing is, why do they tend to always announce their decisions so late and at the time when they know that their customers wouldn't be able to get back their bitcoins and transfer them to exchanges supporting the forks? Lol.
Clearly there is something up with these exchanges. Haha. Oh well, glad I tend to always over think and keep my bitcoins safe in my own wallet. Haha.

I guess they took a quick look at the volume that bitcoin gold was being traded at in other exchanges like Yobit and they saw the 1000BTC+ volume in a couple of hours and the high price of it and changed their mind!

the worst part is that there is no blockchain yet even though the time for start of the fork is past. so these exchanges are trading fake tokens and have credited their users fake tokens to dump.
it was a good profit anyways Grin

all in all they can do whatever they want, none is blaming them for this decision (well, some big investors now have their pitchforks ready), but for anything wouldn't have been a better decision for the people who trusted them to just announce "screw this new fork, we are not supporting it" with, i don't know, 1 week ahead? I know everything now revolve around money and they are not a charity company, but to keep some credibility and fairness within their customers it would have been a better choice.
Kraken is the first it came into my mind, but is not the only exchanger acting like this in the last couple of months.

Its a disappointment though considering the several options one could have to claim his BTG rather than keeping it on their exchange but they cannot be blamed because these are the things you willingly entered into in their terms. For going back on their word after the initial statements shows that they either know more than we do, or the reality is more than what they expected.

The way out in the spirit of fairness is to allow users be able to withdraw their coins unconditionally as it were before the fork so that they can then decide what they would do about it on their own and those who want to still leave it on their platform would have done that willingly and not because they are forced to do so by reason of their own inconsistency.

Not surprised, there is gonna be a lot of fun regarding a lot of exchanges because of this fork, no one really wants to support BTG. I don't blame them. Always keep your btc in a wallet with your keys. Just makes things like this easier.

Yeah, I noticed that some of them are announcing it always in last minute. Is there any hidden agenda about that? Hard forks always announced ahead of time but exchangers will announce it when there is no time to pull out our btc. Maybe they will just get the profit from it? Im not sure Im just wondering why it always happened.

yep, i can understand both sides, none is forced to put some extra effort for the nth fork because that means time investment, resources and so on.
Reading around many exchangers are acting like this or even worse, at time this my question is: there is any exchanger who's acting like they rule this crypto world?
