meetup.com is also a good place to organize such events, if you guys want I'll organize one, the local guys can come and meet me Smiley

Meetup is really good. You should just start a Kolkatta Meetup and see how it draws in people. The new Bangalore meetup has already clocked over 30 members.

I'll be interested for a Bitcoin meetup at Kolkata

let me  organize one  for you  guys .   will  have a  few  people also over the  phone  talking  about  various  thing regarding  bitcoin.
a  small group  can  get together  and  have a meeting  just  to star thing  off.

Can also use the event page on abitsocial.com, would be another good win-win for the community to build up the meetup momentum on this platform as well.

I tried to sign up in abitsoical, but it is not allowing me to login. Is it invitation only ?

I am under the impression that it is open for signups.. pm me your email id and I will send out an invite in a bit.
Sent u the PM. When I tried to sign in it says "Browser cookies are required to login."

How about a meet at South City or Hiland Park ? Just informal face to face introduction before the new year Smiley

Ok let get the ball rolling.

You wish achieve all of those? Quite interesting!

I'm sorry I was unable to clarify your doubts earlier as I said I m just one guy as of now.

It will be a hybrid exchange incorporating margin and c2c trades, more details about this are currently nondisclosable, you will have to wait for the updates as and when they come.

The talks with bank managers can prove to be a dead end but the fact that they are even agreeing to meet me regarding this issue is a big step forward unlike a year ago where they were simply denying it, I have met our local Axis bank manager and we've scheduled a meeting with foreign investor manager from Kolkata's main Branch which is also the forex branch for the state so who knows where that conversation might lead but lets hope for the positive.

The thing about the movie director getting involved is also not a joke and one thing that you must understand as well that Bitcoin as a market is very very young, the entry and exit of entities like chinese whales WILL create a swing that no one can control, but the sheer amount of money being pored into this whole industry is enormous and people nomatter how adamant are willing to be a part of this.

Lets face it our country is corrupt and this currency is 'virtually' corruption free - no one controls it, IF it gains mainstream airtime then whats wrong with it ? I wouldnt be surprised if after this director and Big B I somehow get involved with Anna Hazare Wink lol ( that was a J O K E )

Believe in or not India lacks miners and without them there would be no pool, the main reason behind this is that people like pinwheel or dishawra got into the whole mining thing a little late and the rest of us joined even later than them, no way mining any coins will be profitable in anyway. Atleast the americans and chinese on average have better GPU's and hardware rigs than us Indians, how many hoseholds can you point out to me that has a DESKTOP with a 5k + worth of graphics card ? let alone a 1200k worth single purposed asic miner.

Cryptography is an academic subject but so is schizophrenia, but it doesnt mean we dont encounter it in our daily lives.
Encryption can come handy at almost every step of our daily lives whenever we need privacy or security. I'll get to this point later on.

For now keep your eyes peeled for the name Krogyan Smiley

I appreciate your interest.

meet about what?
what paths do you envision?

Everything will be updated. As of now I m a single guy doing everything on my own so expect the details to come very slowly.

As for the paths I'm going to jot down a few key points or steps to achieve what all Indian Bitcoin users hope to achieve, these may not be chronological.

* Set up a Functional website ready for day to day exchange, something similar to localbitcoins, bcchanger or newly developed inrbtc. yet bringing something unique to this platform.
Is it going to be C2C or something different? What value addition you planned?

* Also in talks with few banks to help me set this up & make it as legal & functional as possible for smooth transactions.
Talks with them is kind a joke to me. Bank won't be interested in you not even RM.
Reason 1: To understand potential of crypto-currencies you need to understand it. Which for sure, bank personnel are skeptic about. People at that age don't have 'spirit of inquiry'.
Reason 2: Even if they understand, they don't have authority and courage to go ahead with idea.
Reason 3: We don't have directive from RBI. And plus, its used for drug, money laundering etc. Bitcoin is going to be banned will be there conclusion.
For sooth working you need clearly defined MOA+AOA. That's all bank needs.

* In talks with a payment processor to enable easier cash flow between the traders or the exchange.
Online payment gateway from bank would do which can be requested from current account.

* Launch public beta testing of our High Speed FPGA prototypes (still in development) - collaborating with a local hardware institute.

* In talks with a Mumbai based film-maker/director to have him adopt Bitcoins as his primary source of funding currency for the next project, which *might involve Sr. Bachhan (Will launch A New topic regarding this).
After this price drop. I doubt, they'll accept. Wish you luck!

* Cryptography has more than one use which most of us in India are oblivious to, so explore some of those options.
Cryptography is  academic subject. What contribution you plan after Ph.D?

* Setup the largest BTC/LTC/TRC mining pool in India** This would be the last step but a crucial one towards achieving my* main goal. Bring India into the Bitcoin World Map.
This must be first step.

This topic would be dedicated to a private casual investor's meet at a date and venue that will be updated soon.

I have been in conversation with some influential and ground breaking tech partners, and I will dedicate this topic board to the announcement of the first "Investor's meet", in order to invite investors who would be willing to walk down the same paths that I envision for Bitcoins in India.

I will personally PM the e-invites.

Most of us know that kolkata is not the front runner when it comes to tech, but I'm hoping Bitcoins can change that.

But all the mumbo jumbo details will chip in slowly.

If I could gauge the interest of other members regarding this meet then that would be awesome. So feel free to fire up the reply buttons.

And yes, I'll arrange for the Rosogollas Grin
