I just receive this message from people way claim to be kucoin say dem don request withdrawal for my account way me I they very sure say I no get shishi inside there and the number them send me msg no be even the phone number way they linked to the account, watin dem just want be say mke I click for that link way be kucoin clone input my real details make dem from there steal my information which I believe say others go fit fall into the trap.

We just need to all they careful out there mind the kind link we click make we no go make fall into this people trap.
I receive this same message November 4th around 12:02 pm Nigerian time, but once I saw the message, I knew it is not from KuCoin because I didn’t run any transaction at that same time, and normally I don’t usually receive such messages even though that’s the same number I do use to receive verification codes for my transactions. However, it is a phishing scam by someone who is trying his best to get your personal log in informations so that they can get into your account to move your funds.
The link said it all that it is not true because all my messages from KuCoin through sms has no link, only numbers.

Let’s be very careful, we are in the season of plenty scams.

If your device is not protected against malwares and you clicked the link, let us assume it was a fraudulent link scheme, the scammer wou had probably got access to your personal data's in Bybit.

You were earlier concious enough about this scamming trick especially since it has something to do with crypto. Let us forget the fact that you claim not to have funds in there because it is not enough excuse as someone who has unlimited access to your wallet can actually place transactions order without getting to know if you have fund there or not. All they just needed was to steal the fund available to them.

I think we just need to backup our devices with the potential services that strictly blockage malicious links. Such services containing the tools that runs in isolated domains programmed to sensitively counter scammers softwares ought to invade into our Privacies of capturing our personal datas in the devices such as our wallets.

Perhaps... Tools like "Browser sandbox" and "Url scanners" is better recommended to shade the malicious intentions away from accessing our device actual informations while we are accessible to denote what the intention of the link is about.

This will be helpful to us if in case we unknowingly steps on untrusted link that may be harmful to us. It could as much help beginners who are vulnerable to fall victims relatively to this trick.
It is not funny but believe it that some of us would want to act smart by clicking on such link to protect our funds or Privacies once we learn that someone anonymously is trying to Invade on our wallet but meanwhile... Such blind action would only end us falling on the scammers traps.

theres a rumor going on lately about some new Nigeria sim swap scam.. I don't know how it works though...I use bybit and most of the traders keeps requesting the phone number.. but I don't bother, I just give them some fake number and they send my money..

I do not give them phone number. I only let them know that I will release the coin if they pay. Over 98% or 99% of my P2P trades are completed. But I will even try giving them fake numbers now.

Sim swap is when someone's sim is compromised. The bad actor will go to sim provider office to retrieve your sim. Use it to scam or get access to your money (like in bank) to steal it. I do not also know how the bad actors will be able to do that but I guess someone working in the sim provider office may know about it together with the bad actor. But what that is most important is to make sure that our sims are working because in sim swap attack, the sim with the victim will stop working.

I remember Binance included the phone number for people to see but they later removed it before they stopped provided naira/crypto P2P.

It's definitely going to be through the p2p platforms.. those traders keep requesting you provide them your phone number for fast transactions or as the only yastic for them to complete the trade. It's better to keep your personal information away from the Internet, to avoid cases like that of the op and many others where you receive malicious mails from scammers.. I hope op had not clicked the link though.. theres a rumor going on lately about some new Nigeria sim swap scam.. I don't know how it works though...I use bybit and most of the traders keeps requesting the phone number.. but I don't bother, I just give them some fake number and they send my money..

So in the case of the OP, it could be a spam message. The scammers know a lot of Nigerians are into crypto trading, chances are out of 10 people 3 persons may be into crypto.
Probably it could be through the phone number he gave to those people he is doing P2P trading with on exchanges. He posted that just his post before yours. Anyone that ask me for phone number, I do not give them because I see no reason I should give them my phone number when the exchange are encouraging people not to give anyone information than to trade. I remember Binance included the phone number for people to see but they later removed it before they stopped provided naira/crypto P2P.
You have a point there. I haven’t used Kucoin before so I’m not going to pretend I know how they run their p2p services but some exchanges have a strict policy of not sharing traders contact information with the other party. Like you said Binance were doing that before but they stopped it. Remitano also does the same thing, you can only contact the other party through the app’s chat box.

That may not necessarily be the case. You ever got a text message on your phone saying it’s your friend from university who is working in Shell and he wants to tell you about a job opening in his company? I’m sure 90 percent of us here have received this message before. The scammers know your name and sometimes your university, how do they get this information? Does it mean that they are close friends or relatives? I recently found out that these scammers get the information of their targets from computer centers that do NYSC registration.

So in the case of the OP, it could be a spam message. The scammers know a lot of Nigerians are into crypto trading, chances are out of 10 people 3 persons may be into crypto.

This is not a case of those close to me, but my guess is it could possibly be either from those old P2P trades where one is asked to share active contact in case of delay, and a phone number can be extracted with that pattern, or it could also possibly be, as @Churchillvv suggested, the same way we have tools that scammers use to send extra emails they send random messages to. That's how such tools can possibly exist for mobile numbers too.

This is a typical phishing attempt that would likely get newer users compared to security minded OGs. As we proceed into the full bull cycles, there are going scam attempts like that and even attempts that would be much more sophisticated to detect. That's why it's important to ALWAYS exercise caution when it's time to deal with any financial matters. Saying this in general because some CEXs send login attempts via mail while others do via email.

In the end, I always recommend verifying everything rather than being quick to trust.

I was just about to say this, the ops should pay close attention to those around him, someone with in hi want to scam him into may be giving out some vital dental or even attempt to phish him off his personal informations,.

Kucoin sending an SMS with withdrawal verification is somewhat unpopular and can easily be spotted to be a scam attempts, for that, ops already spotted the red flag and should avoid this message or even report the number as scam or spam attempt, so that other's can be saved from any further similar attempt with this same phone number.

Perhaps you dey wrong, no be person wey him Sabi or anybody wey dey close to am wey send the message. na mass message wey scammers dey draft and send across numerous numbers which ever way get kucoin or wey dey into crypto come get money inside the wallet coincidentally fit rush go check through the scam link to confirm if na true na so them dey take get people.

I have experience on it, This one no be speculation or what I think but what it is, the people them dey use softwares wey dey send massage like the once wey MTN and other network dey use to broadcast messages to people and targets are crypto interested individuals.

You can take examples from all this Christmas scams wey dey reign during times like this and unfortunately now wey election for USA don finish and Trump come wey dey crypto especially bitcoin interested don win the small bullishness wey we don see go make well educated crypto scammers go into market again and I know say this one wey him receive this message them don start and remember saying na Xmas is fast approaching and hackers and scammers dey find money for the luxury life in Xmas.
