Well, I agree that we need to see what is written in the first post by the OP but if you want to see what in written in the last in the SPAM Mega threads, then you have to go all the way to the last page of the lots of pages to see what is the last reply in that thread.
You literally click on the last page (which always shows in the page indicator) and scroll 5 seconds to the bottom. Why would you need to go through each page?

For those threads  i thought it was better to show the last post first.
And what is the point of going to the end of these spam mega threads? Looks like a way to make a random and quick shitpost and move on to the next. What is there in the last page of these threads? More spam. But maybe some users can answer the last one as an attempt to pretend they are having a discussion and not just shitposting.

I did not know it so thank you for this tut. I checked and you are right, the new icon (when is clicked on) will lead to the latest unread post but not the last post of that topic. It is a new feature I learn but it is not a solution for OP's question.

In some topics, the leads me to the middle of threads (it means I did not visit those threads for too long  Smiley).
What’s the problem with going to the last page and scrolling down a bit? Takes an extra 2 seconds. Tongue

The reason why the thread opens in the first post by default (or the first unread) it’s because this is what people look for 99% of the time. Who wants to start reading from the end? Doesn’t sound like an issue to me.

Wouldn't it will be better if we may see the last page / post of the thread first ?
No, not really. You are supposed to read the opening post or statement written by the thread starter and continue reading the replies in a chronological order. After you are done with that you have a general idea what the OP wanted to say, maybe there are pros and cons, and you are then able to make your own comment taking into consideration everything that has been said already.

No. Usually, I click to go to the latest unread post from my Watchlist.

I used to only reply to the last pages of threads without ever checking the OP or the first answers and it turned into a big mess. Without even willing, I had created spam because my idea was always already mentioned in the first page. Hence, I used to be known as a spammer and was wondering why the hell does nobody reply to my messages.

Now I'd rather read the first page (or at least the OP) and then go to the last page and read the last messages. This way I know that my idea isn't going to be a repeated one. Anyways, if you really want to go to the last page without having to go through the 1st one first, then follow the users above.

if you notice there are numbers showing before you on every thread. simply click the last number and you'll be automatically moved to the last page of that thread

It is possible to do so. Go to your profile.

Then from side menu:

Go to 'Look and Layout Preference'.
Then you will see this option: 'Show most recent posts at the top'
Check the box and click 'Change Profile'.

But I really hate the above option. After using forum in this way for almost 3+ years, the above change was like turning the world upside down. Alternatively, this might be better solution for what you are asking:

This button will take you to the last post of the thread.

Viewing the first page allows you to read the original post and the general idea of the thread from which the other discussions flow, so it is only fitting you view that first before any other page, especially if it's your first time reading that topic.

Also, you can jump to the last page of any thread with multiple pages, by clicking in the last number on the title layout in the board. I use this feature on topics I frequent inorder to follow the latest discussions on it.

I was thinking that wouldn't it be better that if we click on any thread, we should be taken to the last page / post of the thread. Currently, if we click on a thread, we are moved to first page of the thread. Then we click on the last page and scroll down to see the last post of the topic. Wouldn't it will be better if we may see the last page / post of the thread first ?
