Mine DEM instead if you want a staking coin, the wallet is solid.

Just my opinion as a miner.

One last thing to point out in the interest of full disclosure for those that would read your thread:

- 3.8% stake / annually - paid monthly (30 days)

Quote
TEK:

mint up to 40% interest on your TEKcoin balance after every 30+ days.

Mine/Buy/Sell/Stake any coin you wish... but here's a pointer to you and every other beginner out there wanting to get into ANY coin:

Have a fully functioning/synced wallet BEFORE you mine or buy ANY coin.

I totally agree that you should have a wallet that is fully functional and synced. One site that helped me out with this was CryptoChainer check it out.

Works fine...

With that said, TEK does have a still present issue with syncing the blockchain that has been covered at least a few times...

Download the bootstrap and (if needed) wallet updates, exit the wallet, delete the old blockchain except the wallet, put the bootstrap in the same folder as your wallet, restart the wallet (new updated one if needed) and wait until sync.

I know it's a lot of steps........

Anyway, no idea why your post was deleted but, if I had to come up with a reason, probably because all you asked for was:

I downloaded the wallet a few days ago, one would think it's a simple fix but it's not.

One would think the right wallet is posted on the website, back in my days they were but it's not.

Just too much crap to deal with for fuck all; other hassle-free coins I can mine.

That said, this currency will fail if the wallet needs that much screwing around to get working, no regular joe will adopt it.

I'm just gonna cut my loss and call it a day and put this coin on my Shitlist instead.

Thanks anyways dude.

I understand 5 steps is very difficult for some people... so I apologize if this comes off as an insult... but just follow the steps given to you now twice personally...

Anarchy is not chaos.
When someone deletes my posts, I fight back; freedom of speech and I will fight that right to the death.

So I downloaded a wallet from their website then mined from my address about a week ago.

After two pools and two payments later, I still don't have my 200+ mined coins.

When I confront them about it, they want me to jump through hoops and tamper with the wallet itself.

I like to download something and have it work, not have to play computer mechanic and try things that MIGHT work.

Maybe it's me who's a quality-service-nazi but if the only component you need needs a doctor, ain't worth my precious time.

Now they delete stuff from their threads so here I will post since, well, fuck you, that's why, don't delete shit on me.

My wallet is broken or some such bullshit.

Mined a few hundred coins, pools sent payment but 2 days later, no show.

I read that it could be that I am on a different chain... after 2 pools, same address, both sent a payment neither showed up.

Here's my wallet address: BnP7MHFkeCp4JLLpoe4oapaiLc5mkq56GV

How do I get on the normal chain??

go into the directory that contains your wallet.dat file, make a copy of wallet.dat for safety, then delete everything BUT wallet.dat and tekcoin.conf.

Restart the client. Let it sync. Make sure you are using the most current version, as it has built in checkpointing. There is a bootstrap listed in the op that will speed the process somewhat. In any case, it will take from two hours to two days to sync up, but it will be on the right fork.

So, there you have it, they are aware the wallet is faulty but aren't taking any steps to fix the problem in the future and deal with it at the source once and for all.  They still distribute the bad one on heir site.  For all it's worth, new miners to this coin should be aware of that fact before they point miners to them.  Or you'll have to jump though hoops to get it going.  I've seen miners in other threads complaining about the same issue.

It's not just me so, who's in this position but likely the only one with a big enough mouth.

I want to warn others so if I can save a few aggravations to innocent un-suspecting people.

There's always some who don't mind the screwing around but there's others things I'd rather do.

I'm sure it's working for many but out of the dozen coins I regularly mine, this wallet is one of the faulty ones.

Too me, it's just too many red flags in one day with one inconvenience.

Maybe others will share their experiences too, I am sharing mine so take of it what you will.

Take it for what it is, my experience... I'm also the type of guy who demands perfect products, not poor excuses.

Mine DEM instead if you want a staking coin, the wallet is solid.

Ok, since I'm quoted in this, I want to AGAIN make something clear. While I am a friend of the dev, I am NOT in any way part of the TEK development team, except from time to time they ask me to help with testing when changes are made. I was in on that with the last round of problems, so I am quite well versed in how to fix the things that can break. I was just trying to be helpful. If it wasn't, you could have PM'd me or asked other tek heads. We would have helped you.

TEK is one of the first, if not the first, of the high POS coins. It's often twitchy, but overall has worked good with minor hiccups and one major one throughout it's history. It is one of my two favorite coins, and I find your allegations baseless, and frankly, insulting. Thundertoe is not the world's greatest programmer, but the guy is always working on the damn coin. It has no premine, is fully open source, and no bullshit. This "warning" of yours is pure FUD.
