I don't know if it's connected but some guy in the service section also posted about having database emails of 543,690 BitcoinTalk members and he's offering it as leads for those who want to promote their project. He was already tagged by Lauda for doing so, and I think the person you mentioned, if he is a member in this forum, should also receive the same tag for promoting and selling those data if true.
Probably scam but there was a leak in the past.
That was the number of emails in the data breach years ago. So i guess he refer and want to sell you the old data breach.

This may or may not be a scam. But for sure there is (another?) leak.
I use random, unique, unguessable email address at each website I register with. And I changed my bitcointalk.org registered email address the last time I was notified about a user database leak. But today, I saw spam about "BitCoal about to moon" reaching my inbox, and noticed that it was to my bitcointalk email. Then I realised that my bitcointalk registered email had been getting spam/phishing emails for at least the past month (those beyond that were automatically expunged from Spam folder). At least 94 spam have been received to that email.

Not sure if this is the best place to post this, as of late I am getting a few emails from this user [email protected] claiming he has the users database.
Here is a complete copy of the email I was provided with.
Do we know if this is a recent leak? Should we be worried about details being compromised. Does look like a scam to me though, for anyone stupid enough to send 1 BTC.

The database is not fake, you can check it by doing the following:
1. Find any e-mail on any Bitcointalk page
2. Tell me first three characters of that e-mail
3. I send you all e-mails from my database that begin with these characters
The price of the database is 1 BTC.
This database can be used to involve new investors in ICO projects and find partners for any crypto-currency business.
If you are interested, do not hesitate to contact me.
