there was not much demand

My my how times have changed. Let's see another run of these in a 0.01 denomination!

These were released right around the time I joined the forum.  I remember there not being much demand.  Since I was brand new to the forum, I just didn't really know what was smart to buy and what wasn't...when I'm spending a bunch of bitcoin for that is, otherwise anything that was cheap I was buying it back then.

I probably screwed myself making this post since I put in an offer for one of the others and they were gone shortly after.  I would have gone up on my offer of course.

Maybe one day.

I always liked the holo on these coins, good to see the market has changed. PCGS helps quit a bit now days when it comes to unfunded tokens due to the potential counterfeit market.

3. There were originally 250 straight silver and reverse satin silver varieties of this coin.

4. After increasing demand Smoothie returned and released 8 gold plated and semi gold plated versions.

From what I remember, there was not much demand, so he took most of the 250 of each and made them into the gold plated 8-coin set varieties

that would mean then that the mintages for the silver ones are a bit less - if they were approx 30 of each gold version, then instead of 250 silvers, there would be only around 220 or so - right?

There were a total of 8 different finish coins for the big set... so if 30 of each would be 30x6 = 180 since 2 of the coins in the set were the 2 different all silver ones

250 + 250 = 500 - 180 = 320 / 2 = 160 of each silver left over

ahh i thought he was saying 30 total not 30 of ea so yea less silvers than the gold tones then lol

thanks minerjones!

quoting the explanation here as well

that's a freaking awesome hologram

Yeah this is a beautiful coin, but I think I'm most impressed by that holo. Amazing work   Shocked

Curious why you snuck a Monero logo into a Bitcoin denomination coin tho?

Symbolism

Monero is going dark in its technological advancements and it is "setting" like the sun does on the horizon.

Rare coin to come across...especially on Ebay...were these gold plated?

Also have they ever been sodl here on the forum? Price reference would help to see what these go for here on the forum.

Mostly a higher price is almost always achieved outside forum

well, it is being sold by someone here on the forums just not here - on ebay where it will fetch a higher premium is my guess

Indeed, what's up with this Monero logo on that coin's hologram? Quite confusing and out-of-theme.

agreed - maybe @smoothie can shed some light? or maybe @eclipse knows more as he is the one selling 3, well 2 of them now as 1 sold.

Here is a post from smoothie about the Monero logo:

This one show's the holo quite clearly.

Mindblowing coin. I was like "1k for a goldcoin, that's crazy cheap", but it's actually gold plated silver. For one of the rarest (and most beautiful) Lealana pieces this seems more than reasonable, though. Can only go up from there.

I started looking for them after I noticed the hologram has a Monero logo on it which seemed odd for a Bitcoin coin.

there are 2 others though not gold like the one above.

I started looking for them after I noticed the hologram has a Monero logo on it which seemed odd for a Bitcoin coin.

you could ask eclipse as the ones I looked at today are being sold by eclipse, and the one you refer to was also sold by him if I recall.

I hate ebay though as it can be often hard to find something when people mislabel things - I know they do it to drive traffic but it's super annoying af.

The two above are also called "casascius"

Just curious if anyone here won this auction and if you’re one willing to admit it, and two ..willing to say what your max bid was by chance ?  Smiley

I’m being nosy af and I obviously completely understand not wanting to share. But would love to know. I’ve been after a single buyer funded king K for a good mn. Be awesome to know just for historical purposes and “market setting”. ( Also be nice to know how short I was from winning lol).

Regardless, nice win 💪

Not sure if this link will work. eBay is funky w their links to auctions/items that have already closed (edit, trying to find a workable link).
