Thanks for being courageous to inform us despite your mistake. This information reminds us that me must be vigilant at all times especially when we get to the point of parting with our hard earned money in the crypto space or any online platform. It is very important that we spend extra time to research before investing in any online/crypto platform. Some exchanges like Binance, for example reminds us to confirm that we are actually visiting the correct site, a way of re-awakening us that there is a possibility of visiting the wrong website and as such we should confirm that the website is correct. Also there are many fake telegram groups bearing the name of the original group, so it is left for us to check if we are in the right group.  Being in the crypto space in recent times calls for vigilance.

We all have to know that scammers will stop and can find another way to trick people no matter what happens. And if we are too careless enough and not doing dip research in investing in new projects, probably we fall into them. Even the situation where we already know their tactics but sometimes we got mistakes because of their promises. Honestly, it was really hard to control your greed and emotions if someone offer you big money to earn. This scenario has repeatedly happened but from what I can see, many are still not able to escape from getting tempted and losing their money.

The fake OpenAI ERC link is https://www.openaierc.com/

Be careful out there famz, these scammers are not playing

Well, to be honest, this is an obvious scam... it's visible after a few seconds on the site. Cartoon images? Really? And I am not sure what to say about the entire site, it's so simple and small, practically without all the important stuff... just pictures and promises! And in the end, look at the tokens listings... you can probably list any shit on that ones by yourself in a few hours.

Scammers are not playing, and sometimes they can be very sneaky... but these are some basic things, check the site and look around before you make any investments!

The first time I check the site, I already find it suspicious. Next time, be skeptical and always keep in mind that projects that have too many promises and too good to be true offers are possible scams. Always check on the site, reviews, as well as the team behind each project. Make sure that it is being handled by trusted people. Always do your research and do not rely on what you see on their site.
Scammers nowadays are getting smarter and they will do everything just to catch your attention so you will easily fall for their trap so always be careful.
Scammers do continue to evolved when it comes to finding up ways on how they would be scamming out people and since people do become wiser each day then it wont really be surprising that they would be trying out

their best to be always one step ahead which it would really be that normal. There would be no people on getting scammed or been fraud up if they are really just that careful and making up that in depth research before they would be dealing off with things specially this do talk about investment. This isnt something that you could just play around and get confident believing directly on what you are seeing with your own eyes.
This is why you should really be that careful.

Well, to be honest, this is an obvious scam...
A scam is a trick used to cheat someone out of money. At the same time, a scam in crypto investment is when the team behind a token is intended to stop the project and not try to grow the token price as soon as they raise a certain amount of money. And looking at their current trading graphs, they are clearly still working on the project.

It's easy to manipulate with trading graphs... if you have some funds to spare on that.

Yes, their idea is shit, and they intentionally tried to mislead people to some degree into thinking they are the official token of OpenAI. But they never tried to "scam" people. What they did was they took advantage of a trend. In fact, their token price has doubled since they launched their liquid pool, which is quite surprising.

I'm not trying to justify them. I'm trying to say that they're not the worst token people have created in recent years.

You are a bit contradictory. Their idea is shit, they are taking advantage of the current hype, but they are not trying to scam people with all that... yea, they are building the real project! They took a logo from some other project and their idea for what purposes?

Cartoon images? Really?
Those are AI generated images, and they perfectly fit their concept.

I'd point out their token allocation block as a clear indication of the "wait a minute" effect or their extremely poor documentation.

OK... I guess there's a big difference between Cartoon and AI-generated images. Either way, I check the site and I didn't like what I saw... let's talk in 6 months about this project, in that time we will see how far they got with the name/logo from another project, and AI-generated images instead of real developers. I don't even wish to check their token allocation block... that amount can just disappear at any moment.

In the end, it's just my opinion... Maybe I am wrong about this, but as I said, we will see in some time.

I found out that the real OpenAI has nothing to do with OpenAI ERC token, in fact it's a scam project trying to take advantage of AI success this year, the LOGO is the same, this was why I fell for the shit token.

I'm sorry about what happened and it's clearly a mistake that you have trusted and invested in them just because of their name. You should have done some research right before you invested. Scammers will always do everything to deceive you and to make their project look as if it's legit and trusted so you better be wise and observant all the time so you will not fall as their victim.
It is an unavoidable mistake by any newbie, those fraudulent developers will fake any project such that it will look real like OpenAI infact it will take extra efforts and thorough research for experienced crypto investors to really reveal that it's a scam, there had been several fake projects similar to that one, however I give credit to the OP for bringing it to the notice of the forum members, atleast this revelation will prevent potential investors to be aware and take caution in investing in it though it's pity the OP was a victim of the scam, had the OP made more enquiry online the issue of falling victim will have been avoided.
It is because of this that it is important that before someone invests in any coin people ask questions about their favorite project in as many different channels as possible, since in this way you will have many more eyes focused on that project and if anyone finds anything wrong with it they will let you know.

This happens a lot in this forum, in which a newbie is excited about a particular coin and they ask the opinion of the forum members only for them to find out the project is a scam, and while it is impossible to save every single investor out there using this method, enough newbies avoid losing their money by doing something as simple as making a post.

This is one of the serious concerns of the industry, cloning, imitation, and hype, the clone projects usually are the ones that get the hype because they know how to market their fake platforms, legit projects thrive on following a formula of slowly building their community and reputation, I always have doubts on projects that are being hyped, if you look at some of the legit projects and those on the top of the market, they never engage in bounty campaign, they prefer to be based on testimonials and word of the mouth, not hiring influencers to blindly promote their projects.

Not surprised about it. The ChatGPT trend kinda gave me the potential slump in my web dev career since I felt like it was going taking over my career but nah. About this scam project, this is like every trend anyway. Remember when COVID was like still rising a lot in the public, and there were devs that created Coronna coin back then. Yeah, that was like another attempt to milk out these trends.

These scammers aren't not just playing but they're also not sleeping to whatever is coming to the trends.

I think in the excitement of 10x profit you didn't even bother to check whether the token you are buying is real or fake you just bought it just because the logo and name were similar.

Anyway, I hope you have not lost much money in the scam. Take this as a lesson for the future and always do some research before buying any token.

even though most Shitcoins are scam coins, there are also those that you can really rely on to take profits.
Agree, there were so many shit tokens/meme tokens that disappeared in this bear market. Such projects are just money grab nothing else.

Nothing's surprising here. We can probably generalize and consider that 90% or above of the coins listed on coinmarketcap are nothing but shitcoins. And as shitcoins they could be scam, or just a way for developers to earn from innocent and greedy newbies, or very poor projects, mostly copies of other projects, that have actually no chance of becoming successful. Coinmarketcap is terrible in screening new coins. They simply allow obvious scams to get to their list if the price is right.
But make no mistake, even though most Shitcoins are scam coins, there are also those that you can really rely on to take profits.
Recently listed Shitcoins have very low prices and we can find out and choose Shitcoins that have good progress, That way there is still a large percentage of chances that one day they will experience Hype and the price will soar.
Although indeed if investing or trading in Shitcoin you have to be extra careful because it has a very big risk of losing the money invested.
The ups and downs of Shitcoin prices also tend to be faster and more unpredictable.

I'm not saying you cannot make money from shitcoins. You can earn big from them. Many are making big profits from shitcoins. It is risky of course but you can be lucky to buy at a very cheap price and sell after a quick pump.

You can even make money from scams. Ponzis could be profitable if you came early. It is also possible you have already made a lot of money before a scam decided to suddenly exit or pull the rug.

But these are not advisable investments. The return may be high but the risk is higher.
Yes I can understand from what you have said and indeed Shitcoins can generate a very large amount of profit and faster for the holder if they can position when buying and selling it.
But indeed this is not an investment that is recommended, but if trading by taking profits quickly and consistently then Shitcoin is a coin that is very suitable and can be relied on.
The important point is the same as I said before that investing or trading in Shitcoins has a very large risk.

The rules "DYOR" and "dont take rush decisions" worked again. Hope that you did not spend much on those tokens and your lesson did not turn to be very expensive.

Based on your registration date, you dont seems to be new in crypto. As you say you have thought that this is project is connected with Microsoft and billions of investments, then listing on only two DEXes should have been a first warning indicator for you. The topic is newly listed, it hasnt lost much from its ATH, you still have chances to sell it with minor losses. But again, DYOR, double think before making a decision to do that.

When alternative currency projects were created, they were intended to support developers and early investors by providing them with free profits, but projects such as OpenAI are profitable and do not need such support, and therefore all the symbols associated with them are fraudulent and will be deleted from all central platforms (due to scam and plagiarism) and therefore it is better to Avoid investing in it.

I hope you learned from this lesson and I am sorry for your loss.
I was unable to sell the tokens after purchasing but today I use 1inch to sell it, I don't know why uniswap won't let me sell even at a higher slippage but luckily I was able to sell on 1inch, phew! I got my money back and I am relief at last..

I asked the team in telegram channel they avoid my question and remove the questions.. Many people on there still have no clue about what's going on.

Appreciate that you can tell your story, might stop some people from being scammed out of money with these programs. Many projects are like this. Whatever elements are popular recently, they start to make projects. Generally, such projects will not last long before being discovered by people and then dying. There are many more examples like yours in the crypto world. It's just that they didn't explain it to people for various reasons. Our investment can only figure out the project background and project team by ourselves. But sometimes we still fall into the trap of liars when we think carefully. I hope that everyone's investment risks can be controlled within a controllable range. Don't lose more by being greedy.
We have a lot of issues just like this, things aren't easy this time, and investing seems to need to do extra cautious. Nevertheless, I'd never think this could stop people from getting scammed because even though many times we heard about this scam issue, many people are still blind not to see it, especially those who are wanted to become rich instantly.

Whether we like it or not, scams remain and it is up to us now to determine if that is legit or not. But the best thing to do is to invest only those coins/projects that have been proven profitable already.

Scammers are doing their best to fool the people. That's why if you didn't dig deeper before investing you might really end up as one of their many victim. Usually those are the people who are lazy to conduct their own diligent research and just joining the hype without any idea of the risk for doing so. That's why it's necessary for all of us to be extra careful and always exert an effort to know if you're investing in the right project. This is, if you don't want to learn the hard way.

Good that you shared your experience here. It will help others to stay away from this project and any other project which are working based on the impersonating way of scamming peeps. These projects do not last for very long time and could end up loosing the value right after the launch. Sadly, many peeps are victimized by the time it is open to the community that it's a scam.

I hope you have not lost too much money. These things keep happening in the crypto, does not matter how much more efforts you take to be cautious. Sometime we get carried away with it.

Only those who are keeping their investments limited to the known projects and bitcoin are happy in the crypto market.

This is really clearly a scam, if you are dumb enough not to notice this, it's really your fault. But then again, we cannot judge some people who really fall into this scam, most of these people for sure are new in the space of cryptocurrency.
This kind of project is driven by hype or what's popular right now just like before, meme coins are trending than a lot of memecoin projects popped up and scammed people, and now it's about A.I.
Those who are beginners are certainly more prone to being caught in a scam project,
they really have no experience and I think that's important to improve knowledge and skills,
always do your research before joining a project and that is very important.

Lesson learned I guess. An expensive one though which could have been avoided. I mean, how many times have you heard people screaming to do your own research before investing? If you googled a little, I bet you could have saved yourself from the scam. It is not the first time a scam like this has been pulled. Isn't it obvious that a random project that steals logo and name is going to scam you? There are many projects that scams people using current trends as a disguise. Look at what happened to squidgame token when the TV show was trending.

Sometimes we will join the hype with what is developing in the world and think that trending technological developments will also enter the crypto world by making coins and so on thereby reducing our vigilance, I doubt that the tech developers in the real world are interested in the crypto world.
This valuable lesson should make us even more vigilant when a new project appears using a name similar to what is happening in this world because most of it can even be said that everyone just wants to take advantage because using trendy names will attract a lot of attention.

This kind of mistake is very common and a lot of people fall into it, I myself have made this mistake before, scammers take advantage of famous brands or projects and all other famous names to trap people.

Often people easily fall into such a trap because they always follow famous names that have achieved significant success, scammers build a product with a name that is very similar to the original product with small changes that are difficult to notice at first sight.

So the only solution is to check well before investing in any project and make sure of the names and brands also from the website and the Twitter account and all these things.

Scammers dig into whatever is popular and develop their own initiatives that are similar to it to defraud individuals. Scammers consistently have the opinion that if they give their project a well-known name, many people will almost certainly fall for it. We must learn not to be taken away by a newly launched project in the cryptocurrency field, despite its marketing hype, just as scammers are not playing.

As of November of last year, ChatGPT only had their website http://chat.openai.com/ (not having an app yet). However, if you search PlayStore, you will find many apps that address ChatGPT. Numerous fraudulent apps have already been established by scammers, and many users have already downloaded and subscribed to

Well it is not surprising to see that the fake project has nothing to do with the original OpenAI project.  This is what some of this scammers do, they will take advantage of the popularity of a particular name brand to scam people by creating similar name project.
It is important investors do as much digging as they can when investing to uncover any hidden information that will protect their investment.

But in reality, there are many people or more newbies who want to participate or invest in the same project but fail. Many factors, especially the wrong moment to enter and exit, ignorance of the risks of playing with a new project, and just being deceived by the hype . My advice to mewbies or people who are not familiar with this, stay away from projects like this because it is very high risk and there is no guarantee that you will be successful. We can still be a victim even if we already know what to do, and this is indeed a lesson to be learned.
This is one of the reason why fake projects copy the name of the original project and even use the almost the same logo, its to confuse investors and to scam them. This happened many times already, again if you don't want to become a victim of those fake projects try to analyze multiple times and ask the community as well about the project, usually they analyze more and you can get an idea from them.

Be careful out there famz, these scammers are not playing
These scammers are always thinking fast and ahead of people. They know how well people want to invest in new projects around new breakthrough innovations and they always somehow position themselves to fool people making them loose money even without some of them not knowing. We have to give it to these people because they are very hardworking, the bad thing is that they are using their hardwork to steal from people instead of thinking of how to get their own.

keep walking, Johnnie
You seem to be not a beginner already, but make their typical mistake.
Before any investment, you need to carefully check everything and try to get the most reliable information about the project. The more you learn, the less risk you expose yourself to.
You paid the price for evaluating the project only by its name, and indeed, let your mistake become a reminder to others.

There will always be many such scam projects with hype names. Beware.

There is a AI project on coinmarketcap named OpenAI ERC token, I thought this token has something to do with OpenAI but I went ahead and bought some, later I started becoming curious and decide to do more digging.
I found out that the real OpenAI has nothing to do with OpenAI ERC token, in fact it's a scam project trying to take advantage of AI success this year, the LOGO is the same, this was why I fell for the shit token.

Well first of all thank for the heads up OP. I also have to say though, that you should have done it the other way around obviously. You should have done your research before you bought those coins and not afterwards and you should do it this way all the time before you invest into anything. That being said it seems like you still made a pretty good purchase as the price is up 170% in the last 24 hours so you could have make a nice profit if you sell now.
I am surprised how many naive investors are out there in the crypto world. The volume of that scam token is also up more than 1200%, which means there are probably hundreds of people that bought this coins without even checking who is behind it.

Scammers are then serious about their work trying to take advantage of other projects. If we are too rushed to invest in a new project because we believe it was promising to look at but in the end, we just know that we get scam-investing shitcoins. This is to emphasize the importance of doing deep research before making a step otherwise, we are stake to lose our money.

Besides, scam projects are flooded everywhere and most are new projects, we never know what is legit.
Indeed right, scammers are not playing as they are working hard in order to live.

Thanks for letting us know, yeah this scammers are not going to stop in taking people's money with this kind of trick. So we should really be careful on what we invest, specially projects that are pure hype, we should DYOR.

It might take some time for us to do that, but at least we can sleep at night knowing that we have invested on the right project.

And hopefully newbies or even experience once will learn from the mistakes of OP not to invest on something just because of the name or association with other projects.

This is the problem when investors will invest first before researching. At least think twice or even thrice if possible.
I wonder what happened to the money that you invested?

Either way, it's good that you made a thread spreading awareness to scam coins like this one that they are taking advantage of what's hype right now which is the ChatGPT. This is also the reason why I'm only focusing on Bitcoin and other top altcoins. 90% or even 95% of the total number of altcoins right now are either a scam coin or a dead coin. Just better to invest into the top altcoins and Bitcoin of course.

I just hope that no people or at least a few only will fall into this kind of way of scamming.

   -  You made a mistake mate, and that was investing first instead of doing your research first, it was too late when you did it to know what you were getting into.

Anyway, it's been there and happened, at least next time you know what you're going to do right, then no one will hit the word "THOUGH" just be careful next time mate. Good day...

I made 10x from VIOT, a artificial intelligence project that I invested in some weeks back and I am excited about what's coming but today I made a terrible mistake, if you are on point with latest crypto news you must have heard that Microsoft is going after ChatGPT and OpenAI with up to 10 billion dollars ..

Thanks for having the courage of reveling your story, as it is very common that once people get scammed they prefer to not talk about it as they are disappointed in themselves by having lost their money.

And you know what is worse? This kind of scam is very common, scammers spend all their time trying to figure out how to lure their victims, and one of the easiest ways to do this is by creating a scam related to a topic that is currently hot, and AI has been a hot topic recently so it does not surprise me they have used it to scam you, and they have probably scammed many other people during the last weeks by taking advantage on the desire of investors had on putting their money in a project like this.

The scammer was making a token that imitated the the real one. I would not be surprised if you have found it. There are so many imitating tokens being listed in CMC. i don't know why cmc was this bad to listing so many scam token without even filtering them. AI project has been hyped due to the ChatGPT https://coinmarketcap.com/id/view/ai-big-data/

Look at how mostly of tokens were pumping so high. The same story is always repeating over and over again. The only stupid people who bought that fake tokens that listed in CMC.

As far as i know that openai never release the token and that means any token used name of openai was scam

I don't blame you OP, because sometimes it's really easy to fall for such scammy attempts if we are distracted. Especially if you don't want to wait too long until start investing, as if we wait for too long the opportunity may not be available anymore later.

Thanks for the reminder, next time I will pay more attention to projects raising funds in name of famous and consolidated companies.

When we suspect of another project futurely, there is instant way to check its legitimacy. The safest approach would be to contact the company they claim to be raising funds for, wait for a reply from their official support and only then proceed. Unfortunatelly, it can take up to several days to receive a reply from such companies. That is, if they reply...

Never ever assume that some token with famous name has anything to do with the original project. Because in most cases, it has zero to do with it. In fact it's a guarantee of future rug scam.

Creating a token is not regulated in any way, anyone can name their token to anything and list it to most indexing sites. People even traded squid token that was total llegal ripoff from squid game and no one batted an eye. And then acted surprised when it was a rug.

I remember before, some scammers will change some of the letters on the site name like from l to 1.
So people at first, won't distinguish the difference. They thought it is also the official website of the project.
This is a reminder to everyone that scammers are still not changing their tactics, as long as they can screw up these gullible people, they will.
This is also the reason why we need to be meticulous in joining those sites as fraudsters are everywhere.

You should have checked on their official website to see if they have mentioned it anywhere that the token is associated with them or not. I checked and found nothing like that, but I'm still not sure why you called it a scam.
Can you please elaborate a bit on that? Why do you think it is a scam token? Was it rugpulled? Did you tokens disappear?

Remember the squid token when it was released during the time when the Squid Game series on Netflix became popular? That's how the developers and scammers go with these hype projects that have no relation to the crypto market.
They're riding the fame of it as if they're the ones who are actually the closes project that should people invest in with their money. Yeah, it's a mistake by many, not just you, and sorry about your loss for falling with that.
