This is not really a topic for hardware wallet section (it's debit card) and I already created a topic about this yesterday in Service Discussion Wink

I didn't know about your thread. To be honest, I never thought to check in that particular board as I never go there. Since the information is relatively new, I thought no one else made a thread about it yet. I guess I was wrong. I opened it here because it is related to Ledger hardware wallets and the connection that will be made between those wallets > Ledger Live > the debit card. But you are probably right that it's a better fit in a different board. Since your thread is older, I will just lock this one since it makes no sense to have two similar ones, and mine doesn't offer any additional information compared to yours.

I've never been interested in having a crypto debit card, and I sure as hell would not want one linked to a Ledger wallet.
I am keeping the option of acquiring such a card sometime in the future open, but I agree with you that I don't want it to be connected to my hardware wallet.

and along with the fact that bitcoin's volatility is still sky-high there's no way I'd be taking advantage of that particular service.
Bitcoin won't be the only asset it supports. One option could be to convert some BTC to a stablecoin and spend that with the card, for example.

Locking the thread as promised...

Well it does have to do with Ledger--and by extension, their wallet, though I didn't know you'd already posted a thread on it in the Services section.  I've got that one back on ignore, so thanks for linking to it.

I've never been interested in having a crypto debit card, and I sure as hell would not want one linked to a Ledger wallet.  That would be giving up a significant amount of privacy, no?  And man, as far as getting my paycheck in bitcoin goes, I've written about that many times in threads specifically about that.  The bottom line is that everything I buy with my pay in real life goes to buy things I can't easily obtain with bitcoin (like gas, rent, utilities, etc.), and along with the fact that bitcoin's volatility is still sky-high there's no way I'd be taking advantage of that particular service.

I respect Ledger for wanting to offer more services and expand their business, but I'm not sure how many people are using the services they've already started providing (or those offered by the companies they've partnered with).

Ledger has partnered with Baanx to introduce a crypto debit card called the Crypto Life Card.
Not much information is available at this stage. But, Ledger is planning to link it to Ledger Live and your hardware wallet and enable you to convert your coins into fiat and spend them.

It will also be possible to have a part of or your entire paycheck deposited on the card. It’s not yet available, but those interested can join the waitlist. By referring other users, one can get the card for free if the service is supported in your country. The card will first become available in the UK, France, and Germany sometime in early 2022. After that, it can be obtained in the USA.

More info is available here: https://www.ledger.com/blog/sign-up-now-our-ledger-powered-crypto-life-cl-card-is-coming

PS: They could just use the leaked database dumps to send their customers the cards as a gift. No need to create a waiting list. Grin
