Very good hardware wallet. Recently I read an article about Ledger Nano s, Trezor and KeepKey wallets and decided to buy a Ledger Nano S because it supports the most of all tokens.

Thanks, useful and informative thread. I'm thinking about get one after read this thread.
If so, buy one directly from the manufacturer. Nothing is 100%, but you will feel a lot safer.

I heard that it is advisable to buy only directly from them and not from any other online store. I don't get the security threat buying from online stores. Can somebody help please? Thanks
Actually, the main risk is buying a Ledger that comes with an already set up wallet and the hacker's wallet seed written over the paper backup. So, the careless average Joe will think he's the only one with that wallet and that the Ledger is supposed to come like that. But when he deposits his coins, the hacker uses the seed to restore the wallet and steal the coins.

Ledger has an authenticity check when you open the Ledger app, so buying a fake Ledger is pretty hard.

And what you could say about Ledger Nano S in comparison with the Trezor? I think, that Trezor offers better opportunities.
Hello asevila. This is not about a comparison to another, or better way to manage your coins. That's why i wrote at the beginning:
"This is an dynamic information collection of the Hardware Wallet Ledger Nano S"
I would be glad if you draw a comparison and present us here in the forum  Wink

Nice info. What many people do not know is that Ledger Nano S (and other hardware wallets) also support many existing market tokens that run on ETH, specifically ERC20 tokens. You won’t see the tokens on the Ledger Nano S interface screen, but you can manage them through linking it to MEW (MyEtherWallet) in a safe manner as described by the manufacturer.
https://support.ledgerwallet.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005200009-How-to-use-MyEtherWallet-with-Ledger

So even if you do not have an explicit wallet on the Ledger device for a certain token, these can be managed if they are ERC-20. There are currently over 5K ERC-20 tokens in existence.
Recent examples: Bax, Dadi, Abt, Dadi, etc.

Assuming that hardware wallet = Ledger Nano S, then the official site is the best one to find the news about them.

Huh Huh Questions and answers  Huh Huh

[Does Ledger.fr know my private key?]
No. As you set up the device, you generate the private key on your ledger. It is then stored in the secure chip on the ledger. So no one has the opportunity to make a copy of your private key.

[Is the personal PIN code secure?]
Each time you connect the ledger to the USB port on your computer, you must enter the PIN code. If an incorrect code is entered three times, the device is reset and the content is deleted. A malware can not reset the wallet by sending three wrong PIN codes, as it is necessary to physically disconnect and reconnect the wallet before trying on a new PIN code.

[What happens when ledger no longer exists?]
When Ledger finishes all its activities, the Ledger Chrome application will most likely stop working because our API servers are stopped. However, this would only be an inconvenience as the bitcoins remain completely secure as long as you have your 24 word recovery phrase. With the 24 words you can always restore your balance in another compatible wallet.

[What is included in the package (included)?]
1x Ledger Nano S (device), 1x USB connection cable, 1x manual with link, 1x recovery sheet, 1x small band to attach to the keychain, 1x long strap (for example, to carry on the neck), 1x small eyelet to the small band or
to fasten the long band.

[Why does the BTC address change in the ledger?]
The Ledger Wallet Bitcoin Chrome application manages multiple addresses for the same account (HD-Hierarchical Deterministic Protocol). Each time you receive bitcoins, the address will be replaced with a new address that always points to your own account. It is a security and privacy feature. Of course, each address stays active and you can continue to use the "old ones". Each transaction is displayed in the application.

[Why does not the ETH address change in the ledger?]
The Ledger Wallet Ethereum Chrome application manages only one address. You can manage multiple Ethereum addresses and accounts with MyEtherWallet.com.
