Hi. I’m not sure if I’m posting this in the correct spot but just wondering if anyone would know why my new ledger nano s is flashing the ledger logo. It’s never been initialized and is like this out of the box. I have the most updated ledger live and USB drivers etc (windows 10-64 bit) .  If I hold the left button it will change to boot loader but after what looks like a successful reset or anything else I try on ledger manager it just goes back to the flashing logo. I do have an older nano s that works fine on the system.  I’m not having much luck with a response from ledger support so thought I’d try here.

That might be caused by the poor connectivity to Ledger servers due their overloading. You never know what’s in store for you when you plugin your device for either upgrade or the first setup. Try solutions described over there https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/attempted-firmware-update-stuck-on-bootloader-permanently-5268437

That's definitely not the case.
The nano does not need any internet connection when initializing.

This has absolutely nothing to do with their server, but is either a system and/or hardware failure.

OP, are you using the same cable you used with the other nano?
The most common issues are a wrong usb cable (without data pins) and a faulty USB port. Can you exclude these two options?

The issue (or alike in symptoms) seems to have been around for a while:
https://www.reddit.com/r/ledgerwallet/comments/ak9h9x/nano_s_ledger_logo_flashes_then_device_selfresets/ (there is some driver download stuff described, which I would refrain from doing unless Ledger Support points in the same direction)

https://www.reddit.com/r/ledgerwallet/comments/6t26in/nano_s_start_up_screen_blinking_cant_access_my/dlhcljt/

Perhaps it’s worth giving the bootLoader a go after running Ledger Live as an Administrator:
https://support.ledger.com/hc/en-us/articles/360003117594-Troubleshoot-firmware-update

In any case, Ledger Support needs to come up with a solution approach, base on the fact that the issue is not new in appearance, and they should have a knowledge base on how to deal with it.

Ledger's customer support seems to respond significantly faster on their Subreddit[1]. I suggest asking there instead for more specific answers from the developers or customer support.

CAUTION: There are A LOT of scammers roaming Reddit, so make sure that you're talking to the legitimate admins and moderators of Ledger.
