Thanks to everyone who replied, I have now sorted the problem.

I really appreciate your help. Could not understand some of the comments are they were a bit too technical but HCP made it simple enough for me to follow.

In case anyone else who is reading has this same problem, I also found a good video at the link below.

my question is this:

If I have to use the recovery phrases will the information (coins, tokens) that are stored on my Ledger Nano device be wiped and will I consequently lose my coins.

You make things too complicated IMO. Remember that the recovery phrases from the word itself, its designed and made to recover your funds on any wallet that is compatible of its format. If you have the 24-word seed even your ledger nano lost or broke you can use it on wallet that is compatible of it, like electrum but you can't recover the altcoins of that seed on electrum since electrum is only for BTCs. So if you want to recover those altcoins then its recommended that you purchased again the same device or I don't think if there are some wallet that is compatible with the ledger seed format but even if there is, I will never trust them.

I think that I entered the wrong PIN twice but that I now have the correct number. However, I am afraid to try it in case I get locked out after three wrong attempts.
You won't get locked out... the device will simply reset itself, but will be able to be setup again Smiley

If you have the 24 word recovery phrase, then you will be able to restore your ledger should you get the PIN wrong a 3rd time and the device resets itself, refer here: https://ledger.groovehq.com/knowledge_base/topics/how-to-import-slash-recover-a-backup-on-a-nano-s

The private keys are pre-generated from the seed so technically, If you restore your coins on another Ledger Nano S or through any BIP39 compatible software, you are just copying what you had. Nothing on the old device will be wiped unless of course you typed the wrong PIN 3 times then the hardware will be wiped but again, the recovery phrases will still be usable to recover your coins.

I have not used my Ledger Nano S for a while and have encountered a problem while entering the PIN.

I have the 24 Recovery Phrases but my question is this:
