but after the new update, you can only install 2 major apps (i.e BTC and ETH) or 1 major and a few of its forked or based coins (i.e BTC with BCH, BTCP, etc...).

This is what makes me don't want to update lol. I'll never update my firmware if I can only use 1 or 2 apps. Hopefully, I don't have to buy new Ledger just because I wanted to install more apps. Or probably I should sell all my alts and save it to BTC.

Why did you have to re-install, did your Bitcoin app got deleted? Afaik Ledger told us to delete all apps before updating in order to make sure that we have enough storage for the update. I'm not sure what will happen if the storage is insufficient in the middle of our update, but I'm pretty sure it can cause trouble if they don't implement a safety feature in case that happens.

Yes, I think that it was deleted. It was.. not there. I guess that I'll have to explore more detailed the features and limitations of the device.
Is there a way to find out the free space and how much that space should be?
AFAIK it’s normal behavior to automatically delete all the apps after an firmware update. I don’t think you can see the storage capacity, but after the new update, you can only install 2 major apps (i.e BTC and ETH) or 1 major and a few of its forked or based coins (i.e BTC with BCH, BTCP, etc...).

Just for the record, in case it helps anybody, I did update my Legder Nano S yesterday, I also had the Bitcoin app on it (I didn't know I have to remove it), the update went smoothly, I (re)installed the Bitcoin app afterwards and everything was OK.

I did use the original cable.

Well I did a mistake this time, didn't delete the app before.

Have you successfully update your firmware? According to this Reddit thread[1], it seems the problems lies on timing problems/connectivity. I might be wrong, but you can try again on another network/cable if it still persists.

As many users are updating their device, it may take a few minutes to connect to our HSM server

For error you get only way around is to boot in Recovery mode and then open Manager -> click on update. To update to last firmware you need firmware version 1.4.2 and Ledger Live version 1.3.

I was trying to install some apps and wasn't working. Was saying to install BTC and ETH apps, when they are already installed.

So I decided to update the firmware and right now it's stuck with the writing "MCU Firmware is not genuine" I did as suggested unplug, hold the right button and plug but nothing is happening. I get the writing recovery on screen but then it goes back to "MCU Firmware is not genuine". Any solutions to this?
