Unless you're collector or need convenience (non-wired connection and don't want install and uninstall application to access coin), you better wait until discount appear.
That sounds like excellent advice, and the price is why I'm not jumping all over this right now.  Then again I'm not sure there ever will be a price drop on a special edition.  But whatever, I can live without it.

I was talking about discount for regular edition. Besides, special edition will out of stock quickly before there's a discount Tongue

Presuming of course that you go to the official Ledger Amazon page(s) via https://shop.ledger.com/pages/retailers, then you are essentially buying directly from Ledger, just via their Amazon web store. I would see no reason why it wouldn't be discounted on there as well. Certainly when the Nano X was released, the Nano S price on both their website and Amazon store both dropped in tandem.

Because there's fee to sell your item on Amazon and attempt to lure them to buy from them directly?

I assume by "they" you mean Ledger themselves?  I bought my Nano S on Amazon--do you think they would offer the same discount or should I just check Ledger's site come Black Friday?
I did mean Ledger themselves, but I'm not sure about Amazon. I don't remember looking at their Amazon store during last year's event.

Edit:
Just found this reddit post which confirms that last year it was 50% off on Amazon as well: https://www.reddit.com/r/ledgerwallet/comments/9zmzat/ledger_nano_s_50_off_black_friday_matte_black_only/eab0nzv/

I bought my first ledger nano S in a Black Friday 2017 on Ledger official website. I don't remember the price exactly, but it was like 30-50% off (a good discount).

They did another one in 2018, you can see here. But looks like 2019 is going to happen (or maybe later?)

A question. Why do you want a third wallet? Recently I received a ledger nano s and a x as gift.. I have 3 ledgers now.. I don't know what to to do with those additional 2 lol  I will try to sell to a friend at least one.
Sorry I missed your post, as I hadn't checked this thread again since I last posted in it.

I don't really want another Ledger, but your question made me think of a certain relative of mine who's a mechanical engineer.  It's like me asking him why he needs another goddamn socket wrench when he already has a basement full of tools and most likely duplicates of everything.  I just think hardware wallets are very, very cool, very nifty pieces of machinery.  I certainly don't own enough crypto to justify more than one of them.  Years down the road old ones will probably be collectible, and I'd like to own a piece of crypto history.  That's why I didn't return my stupid-fucking-ShapeShift-whipped KeepKey.

Unless you're collector or need convenience (non-wired connection and don't want install and uninstall application to access coin), you better wait until discount appear.

Last year they put on a very nice 50% off deal for the weekend.

Nano S is limited in storage, there is no way to fix that problem, except in a way that Ledger reduce the size of apps (as they do with ETH app). Nano X has much more storage space, so the number of apps installed at the same time can be much bigger. So if you need that and Bluetooth option you will buy Nano X, and if you just need security that hardware wallets provide, Nano S is still a perfect solution.

I did not find any info about any kind of functionality of 3D card, so I think it is just an extra gift to this limited edition. There is an unboxing video in OP, there you can see 3D card, this is the first thing which can be seen when the box is opened.

This is true, officially Ledger says "Bluetooth pairing with a desktop is currently not available.", which means that this may change in the future. The main difference that is always emphasized is a much larger number of apps that can be installed at the same time, and this number is up to 100 on Nano X, which is reason enough for someone to invest money in this model and not in the Nano S.

Ledger will not improve Ledger Blue in a way you think, this is the final product and the only new thing we can see for this wallet is new firmware. It's been a while since Ledger says that they stop production of this wallet.

3D card is just an extra thing in packaging, why do you think it should have a special purpose?

Ledger Nano S is said to hold upto 20 apps but most can install 5 apps and not many use more than 10 apps. If a user uses 100 apps, then it's worth but I don't think one would need to use so many. I was thinking of buying Ledger Blue but this device also can't hold many apps just like Nano S and it seems they lost interest in this product as not many devices were sold. I feel the 3D card must be having some use else they wouldn't provide it. they did not mention its use.

If just for the number of apps they are charging double, they should provide a way for us to increase the space in our own device rather than creating a whole new one but it's just like they are just releasing old devices with enhanced features.

It cannot be connected via bluetooth to the laptop and needs the cable. I don't see much difference between this and Nano S except that it got one button and can be connected via bluetooth to the mobile. Screen looks slightly different and price is double. Instead they should improve their Ledger Blue as that's too heavy and not bluetooth enabled too.

What's the use of the 3D card?

Grr....I've been on the fence about buying a Nano X.
As have I. I want another hardware wallet to use as an off-site back up, but a Nano S would do just fine. I would potentially make use of the Bluetooth functionality on the Nano X though, and could then relegate my current Nano S to be my back up. But I'm not spending $120 though.

My plan is to wait a couple of months for Black Friday. Last year they put on a very nice 50% off deal for the weekend. If they do that again I'll be snapping up a Nano X. Otherwise, I'll pick up a second Nano S at whatever discount they offer.

I think that what The Pharmacist is asking is if he can have 10 different apps installed at the same time which is not possible with the Nano S.

I think his question was focused on something else, but when he sees our answers, then we will see exactly what he meant. And as for the number of apps on the Nano S, we see some people here who cannot have more than two apps in same time, and I posted one example where user is managed to install 10 apps to Nano S. It all depends on the app size and combination of apps.

According to Ledger Nano X's page, you can have up to 100 apps in your Nano X at the same time.

I think it is only an approximate figure, which undoubtedly serves to promote new product. I'm sure in some combinations is not possible to install even half of that number.

This means you can have all your coins at the same time (who holds 100 different coins anyways?).

Yes, you can. The Nano X has 5-10 times more capacity compared to the Nano S so depending on which apps you are planning to store there it should fit 10 at least. They claim it can fit 100 but who knows.

Take a look at this post from reddit:

For anyone interested, I got my Nano X today and was able to install ALL of the following:

—Bitcoin
—Bitcoin Cash
—Bitcoin Gold
—Litecoin
—Dash
—Cardano *
—Iota *
—Tron *
—Ripple
—Binance Coin *
—PIVX
—Komodo

And I still had room after that....

Grr....I've been on the fence about buying a Nano X.  I really don't need another hardware wallet as I already have a Nano S and a Keepkey, but this edition looks pretty sweet.  That price, though.  It's not astronomical, but it's pricey enough such that I'm having a hard time making a decision.

Got a question about the Nano X:  if you have a portfolio of, say, 10 different coins.  Can you view them all at once, which you can't do with the Nano S?  That's really the only thing that bugs me about the S, even though I don't have many alts.  I'd like to be able to view an entire portfolio of coins instead of having them "hidden".

As Lucius said, all supported coins you can see in your ledger live portfolio and erc20 tokens
But some coins are not supported by ledger live. The only coin that I noticed is not supported is Tron and its tokens. For those you need to use third party apps. However , in my case, it doesn't make any difference because I don't have much Tron (only a few that were airdropped to ether holders).

A question. Why do you want a third wallet? Recently I received a ledger nano s and a x as gift.. I have 3 ledgers now.. I don't know what to to do with those additional 2 lol  I will try to sell to a friend at least one.

Price is something which is definitely not at the will of most customers, but Nano X is still cheaper then Trezor Model T (149 EUR), and for that price we can get Nano X+Nano S in Ledger Backup Pack. I personally plan to purchase Nano X, but I'll wait for the possible Black Friday discounts.

I am not using Ledger Live for some time (only Nano S+Electrum), but I think you can view all your portfolio in Ledger Live. That means if you added 10 different coins in total, when you open Ledger Live you should see them all. The only thing you can not do is to make a transaction for coin which app you do not have installed on Nano S at that moment. But all this is limited to 22 coins and 1250 ERC-20 tokens. For other coins you still need to use external wallets.

You can see supported coins with all the details here: https://shop.ledger.com/pages/supported-crypto-assets

For those who have plans to buy the Nano X, Ledger is released "To The Moon" limited edition. With this move, Ledger celebrates 5 years since the idea about Ledger hardware wallet is born. As far I can see price is the same as for regular edition, and I guess that this offer will be of interest primarily to collectors. Someone is posted on Reddit that there is only 5000 pieces of Nano X "To The Moon" limited edition.
