bitcoin has not been able to get legal certainty of many
countries because it is anonymous enabling indication of
money laundering activity contrary to the public policy
of transparency

With bitcoin, it is also very hard to trace addresses when using private wallets in bitcoin core. This means that people cannot be traced unless the governments started 'spying' on people's computers. However, there are many negatives of people not being able to trace transactions as bitcoin can be used for illegal purchases.

I don't think many politicos have expressed the desire to crush it, just tame it. There's a far easier way to make its use harder than outlawing it - strangle the fiat gateways. It'll live on in the shadows but be of little interest to most people.

I now believe that the governments of Europe and North America in general will now never be able to stop bitcoin. There is too many copies of bitcoin in these two countrie for it to ever be banned! But, what does anyone else think?
