Outside your property, no, there's no foundation to insist he leave. You can ask, but you can't force him to go. Of course, he's probably on someone else's property, and you could probably get them to make him leave.

On your property, outside the building, yes, you can insist he leave, just as you could with anyone. It is, after all, your property.

I know it may seem harsh, but I've actually been on the receiving end of this myself, not from actual homeless people though, they seem to have been driven out by what we in the UK called charity muggers, they're pretty much infesting the UK Supermarkets and Shopping centres and they run around with either buckets or clipboards not really asking but practically demanding your money because while they act polite etc. they'll aggressively pursue you until they drive you away or get you to sign up until they find another victim. Of course, the charities will claim that it's an effective tactic and that's true but only in the short term really because eventually people will get sick of it like they are now. There is also lots of evidence that points towards the fact that the people who collect for these charities get most of the money or it goes towards administration costs and very little actually makes it to the ones they claim they're trying to help.

So normally I'd say no, but if they're going out of their way to harass people repeatedly then something is going on, not only that the charities are always for some impossible and generic cause like 'save the children' or 'save the rainforest' or they'll be shipping the money off to a warzone where the money will go to a corrupt government that steals it to use it to commit more atrocities in their civil wars. So if it's only happening occasionally and they leave of their own accord then it isn't a big deal, but if they're staying for a very long while then clearly something is going on.

neptop- The terms you're using are kind of confusing.  I think when you talk about homelessness being illegal, you mean vagrancy.  They're not precisely the same thing.  You can be homeless without being a vagrant, for example if you stay at a shelter.

I think both prostitution and vagrancy should be legal.

Although, I do have to wonder.  For all the libertarians/anarchists, if you're a store owner and a vagrant outside your property is driving away customers through aggressive panhandling, is there any moral right to insist he leave?

I learned that Japan has a pretty hierarchical society (correct me, if it's not true!), but sexuality is something, personal, individual that basically puts everyone on the same level or even creates a completely different hierarchy. I think it could be related to this, but also be completely wrong here.

That's always been funny to me. Pay a woman to have sex: illegal. Pay a woman to have sex on camera: legal. WTF

About prostitution I feel like there are relationships that (sadly) are built the same way or in other words prostitution becomes legal after marriage, which doesn't make sense either.

Other than that I think it should be legal, because it is a freedom and it should never be forced, just like any other work.

Alot of countries put homeless people into minimum wage jobs (usually factory jobs). Proponents say it's a humanitarian move because it provides them with a job/food/shelter, but alot of people are against it because they say it violates their freedoms/rights/etc./etc.

As for the thread topic, IMO homelessness shouldn't be illegal. Some people fall on hard times and you can't violate their liberties because of it. Also a small number of homeless people are homeless by choice, you can't punish those few for their lifestyle if it isn't hurting anybody.

Prostitution should be legal but somewhat regulated. If porn is legal why shouldn't prostitution be legal? I see no difference. As long as the prostitute him/herself is deciding to sell their body on his/her own volition, then it's no business of other people what they do.

It is a neutral question. Either you think it should be illegal or not. I think it's ridiculous for either or these things to be illegal, but I want to know what other people's opinion is.

Other than that the question is somewhat coupled with "having an address", which is a requirement for many things. I think one wouldn't even get a postbox without one, right?

What do you mean by homelessness being illegal? Sending a homeless person to jail? In most civilised societies, food, shelter, basic education, and health care are human rights. So, sending to jail politicians and bureaucrats who fail to provide shelter for everyone?

What is your opinion?
