Well, it is true, if the popular illegal things got boosted up by payment, then it'll emerge like pestilence. The whole entertainment industry is already facing much loss for this piracy thing, and if it got the payment, then who knows, the entertainment industry might go full on way with the coin.

Those found guilty of copyright infringement may face up to five years in jail, fines and cgarges. In addition to any other charges that might be brought against you,the copyright holder can file suit, which can result in legal fees and damages that must be paid.

Yes there will be legal consequences if Tron goes with this plan. Torrent sites are already encouraging illegal file sharing. And now if Tron starts offering tokens for this purpose the entertainment industry would not be very happy.

That is an interesting question. And though it should not  concern us in any sense, your question does brings some serious issues to light. Though it seems illegal, there is a chance that the TRON is using some loophole in the law to do it in a way that it does not look like a illegal thing to the law enforcer agencies.

So if I understood correctly Tron is planning to incentivize seeding on BitTorrent by awarding it with Tokens. Seeders get tokens and leechers can pay tokens for faster file transfers.
We all know that a huge deal of torrents are used for illegal sharing of movies, games etc. So if all of a sudden all the seeders on PirateBay get "paid" for sharing their files....won't there be any legal repercussion from the entertainment industry?
I mean Tron is basically paying people to pirate in that case and the entertainment industry won't like to see people eating from their cake.
