So, there is a big difference between 0.002btc (Copper Member) Vs 10btc (Donator Member)

Yeah, but on that time its still about $200 or something higher than that. So I think we will be having a 10x value of the Copper Membership which is about  BTC0.02 or higher for this DONATOR status to be fair on those who bought it from the past.

(I'm just using penny instead of money - even if its small or big amount) Grin

There is not a single reason why theymos should just make the Donator and VIP ranks accessible for everyone. It's meant to be something exclusive.

Then I think I'm right Wink those status we're now only for the old members Grin

Then what about the DONATOR status?
We can still have this Rank for the new ones. Besides it's only meaning is whether someone is willing to donate a penny for the forum.
It's not the same as the VIP don't yah think?
Like OgNasty said in the post I linked above, "there's lots of room between Copper Membership & Donator, and there's lots of features that can be added to various tiered member levels"; There is not a single reason why theymos should just make the Donator and VIP ranks accessible for everyone. It's meant to be something exclusive.

And again, like OgNasty said, "I don't see a need to devalue the member status of those who were supporting this forum with money out of their own pockets 7 years ago, before most people had ever heard of Bitcoin".

When VIP status was created, the BTC price was about $15. It's supposed to be very expensive. If everyone had VIP status it would lose its meaning.

I wouldn't say a penny, if you want to have the Donator status you have to donate at least 10 BTC

Quote
If you donate 10 BTC, you can get a special "Donator" title and a green "who's online" color.

So, there is a big difference between 0.002btc (Copper Member) Vs 10btc (Donator Member)

Why don't you reduce the price of Donator and VIP memberships? The current prices are simple unattainable, it's almost like you're intentionally making them impossible to reach. Are you looking to keep the exclusivity of the former members who donated when BTC was almost worthless? If so, why? Back then the amount they donated was less significant, but now 50 BTC for a badge is crazy. We would love to contribute towards the running costs of the forum, but copper membership is not enough, couldn't you implement something a big more desirable (but attainable).
There are plenty of threads explaining why.

This is the most recent one: Theymos should reconsider amount for "Donator" and "VIP" status.

That does not explain why. Only Theymos can answer this question, unless he has already answered it in the past.

Opinions of the community are irrelevant in this case, and constitute only poor proxies of the actual rationale.

If Theymos has addressed this in the past, please do let me know, a quick search did not turn up anything.

I think DONATOR and VIP Membership are NOW just for the old members here. And maybe that's why Copper Membership is the only 1 available now for everybody.

Well, if someone here is a billionaire I guess he can still become one of those DONATORS/VIPs. Grin but I don't seem to see that practical. It's now just a waste of money don't you think? And also Copper Membership as I think, are only made for newbies to get rid of some restrictions in their accounts.

Is this enough?

Not really, at the original price VIP status cost around $750. That is massively different from the $350,000 it would cost now. I don't think there has been a single new VIP member in the last year? When something is priced so high, it is practically unattainable, and as such is not realistically for sale.

I don't think they bought copper membership after became legendary. Like me, I bought copper membership once I was newbie. But now I am full member, but I really don't like to remove copper membership as well as I paid for it. I can't see anything bad for ware this title.

After become legendary buy copper membership means waste of money.

I bought it when it first came out and was already Legendary at the time. It was something new and exciting for a good 5 minutes or so  Tongue

People now - "No way I'm paying $65,000 for a Donator membership!"

People in 10 years - "No way I'm paying $65,000 for a Copper membership!"

Unlike the Donator/VIP memberships, I do plan on reducing the cost of copper membership if the price rises a lot, so that shouldn't happen. (Though the membership price doesn't float automatically.)

If a legendary member want to make a donation i recommend to use the donation link than to buy a CM.

But you don't get the automated title.

I bought one because it says on the screen "as soon as the payment has x confirmations you will automatically be able to select your copper membership" - that was literally the only reason I bought one.

Also, I really wanted a member signature and a reduction on posting (which doesn't seem to actually apply).

Yes my friend, i understand those who buy them, and then grow their accounts, so, the tag will still there, but as i say, weird to see people who doesn't need it and they buy it just they think it looks cool (and to be honest it does...), there should be a silver membership and the gold one  Tongue

Hahaha, this posts kills me because you are right, those 0.002 btc maybe worth big money in a couple of years and maybe no one will be able to get it like it happen now days with the donator membership.

I don't think they bought copper membership after became legendary. Like me, I bought copper membership once I was newbie.
copper membership was first introduced in November 2017, roughly about ~44 weeks ago
(44 weeks/2 weeks) * 14 activity = 308 activity and to get Legendary minimum 775 activity
lets assume merit isn't a problem, and a user bought copper membership back in November
so if that user is currently a Legendary then he should be at least Sr. Member when he bought it
775 - 308 = 467 activity, close to 480 for Hero Member

After become legendary buy copper membership means waste of money.
if current Legendary member has copper tag,
surely for vanity reason as the copper benefits are no use for him with higher rank (when he bought it)
or he paid for it (as downpayment) Cheesy for possible future developments

I wrote the system so that I can easily add additional paid memberships in the future, but I might not ever do so. Not sure.

I thought the same thing. But if there is really a Legendary member already and availing a copper membership then he must be doing a wrong decision. In the end, you will be judged based on your behavior and posting habits here and not to the labels under your name.

looks like non sense for me
For a higher rank member, nothing special really. (Doesn't mean that they are doing some kind of donation) They just want to try it after knowing about the new paid membership.
