It seems like it.

The fan is totally covered by a casing and it is positioned far away from the case of the miner.

Like there is a little gap between the miner and the fan.

I decided to take it off for more exploring and will post pictures once done.

The A721 is quieter than the S7.

The current A721 with air forming cooler is a little bit quieter than the older fan due to the lower fan speed.

I do not know if it suitable as a home miner or not but I have a dedicated place for the miners.

All I know that the R4 is the only home miner but with lots of issues.

Nice, so same temps with 5k RPM than the others with 8K RPM right ?

How is this suitable for home mining, is the difference with 721 that important or seems the same ?

Cheers,
Q.

An update from Canaan regarding hooking A721 with A741.

Hi, yes you can connect A721 and A741 to the same Controller. The firmware can support A7xx in the same chain
Although the voltage setting is different. So it is up to you if you want to run your setup with the devices separate or not. Actually, let us know if you try this and what the results of the setup are for you ok?

As for the cooling numbers, we are working on that but its nearly Chinese New year so there will more than likely be delay on this.

Thanks

Jon

Will post pictures of the A721 with and without the air forming cooler after breakfast as well as screen shots.

So my translation would be:

get a second controller for best results.

If anyone does have the ability to run them both  on 1 controller and 1 chain for a few hours.

Then on two controllers to show the difference in hash rates it would make it easy for people like myself to decide to get a second controller for the newer gear. While I would love to do this I have too much of my funds tied up to buy and test properly.

Have you got pictures of the different parts? Im still curious to what theyve done to run the fans slower but still acheive the same amount of cooling.

Hi all,

An update.

I got a replacement unit from Canaan which is an A721 but with the air forming cooler of an A741.

Cannot put it in the 6inch aluminum exhaust that I have.

It runs quieter than the first batches I received.

The fan runs at 60% compared to the old batches 80%++.

philipma1957 is quite the hero around here, so I agree, I've never seen him do any ill things.
I have a 721, no issues at all so far, and goes above spec by 500GH.
Paid 888.
No bill from the shipping company yet, though that would make me some what sad, as never had that before with bitmain.
But I do love the quality look of the A7, time will tell if internally the quality remains; if they survive like my SP20E(amazing machines), the quality over price will be worth the premium cost by far.

So far the gear has run for weeks with 0 issues.

Thanks for your support.

and losing about 80 to fedex because they wrote aluminum not computer on the invoices.
Oddly enough same happened to me with the 1st R4 I got from Bitmain wheny they were briefly only DHL or FedEx: On shipper it lists 'Aluminum' and FedEx dinged me for $35 because of it. My 2nd R4 ordred last week had UPS back as option. Used it, got miner yesterday with no extra charges...
Yay FedEx...

UPS likes to send random bills for ~$25 a piece weeks later. With Fedex, just call them up and tell them it's a computer and they remove the customs tariff. According to the last Fedex guy I talked to, Bitmain is using a customs code that doesn't match anything in the database.

Bitmain has not been an issue.

Avalon has been an issue.

In any case I will attempt to fix the FedEx issue on my side.

If I can fix it Avalon would only owe me 25 usd.

Frankly in order for me to buy from them they would need to send me the $25 they me off on the first two 721s.

And somewhere someplace let us know can 721s run with 741s on the same chain .

Hint to Canaan offer 180 day warranty.

Bitmain finally did this it would help, your sales.

Actually Phil deserves not only to be refunded, but there should be some extra attached for him?  Why?  Phil has sold many, many Avalon machines - just check the Group Buy threads - and as such should  be considered a VIP customer.  In fact, if Phil had been able to get reasonable (just reasonable mind you, not extraordinary) pricing and payment options I would have also gone for the A721.  I wanted an Avalon machine.  I was waiting for the new Avalon's to come out.  But nooooooooooo.  Much more difficult than it ever needed to be.  So instead I went with Bitmain, as most of us have let's face it, and have the requisite issues with the machines in my command.  Tongue

Thanks for support frankly some days you just get tired of dealing with sellers.

I would also like to know since I paid top dollar for the 2 avalon 721's and the controller and the extra for the privilege of sending them btc vs a bank transfer and losing about 80 to fedex because they wrote aluminum not computer on the invoices.  Why can't they tell us if the controller runs  721 and 741  at the same time.

Did anyone see if it reads  721 + 741 will run on the same controller?

Sorry to hear that Phil.

But Canaan also owes me around $150 since they did not fill and submit certificate of origin correctly.

But, I said what the heck. Money comes money goes.

the S7s (I have 14) are working very well and was considering the S9 once they were out.

But from what I have seen, I am not ready to pay $8000 for S9s or R4s.

And shifted that money for the A7s.

If the T9 is going to be okey, I will go for it since I have sufficient funds otherwise again further A7s to purchase.

I hope you will be refunded. Just drop them emails and follow up.

Yes. The most important thing is reliability. What's the use of a high hashing rate machine and its unreliable and breaks now and then??? Wasting your time with shipping back and forth as well as wasting time till the machine is fixed?

Hope they fixed S9 and R4 with their T9.

Only time will tell.

For now Avalon products are reliable and this is the main concern then hash rate and effeciency.

mostly true but a bit more complex.

if you buy 10 s9's and figure to lose 2 of them to down time they are better then  avalon  but if you lose 3 of ten the avalon wins

so a big guy with many s9s  the s9 is better.

but if you buy 2 s9's and lose one to down time the avalon is certainly better.

My annoyance is  I was forced to pay extra to buy with bitcoin and was told I would get that back if I order another avalon.

I want my extra btc refunded  before I consider buying from them again.

I am out 25 usd worth of btc  and they also filled out my customs paperwork wrong costing me 80 usd.

once they send me an email or a  pm with a 105 refund or credit I will buy one.  til then no purchases.

so how about my 105 credit  canaan?

This machine's Hash Rate is low. Antminer R4 even has a value of 8 TH/s. Getting Avalon does not make much sense.
Does this machine have any advantages from the Antminer device?

7.3TH vs 6TH

1150w vs 900-1050w

Air forming cooler vs normal air cooler (4000rpm and 8000rpm fans)

$818 vs $721 before introducing the A741 and when released is $888

It is real but they still owe me for the first 2 I purchased.

So I do not know if I will buy from them.

It cost about 900 .

I do not know if I can mix with my two 721s.

So if they pay me the extra btc they wanted for the first order.

I would order one.

So Canaan I paid you extra to buy it with btc.

Tell me if you will give me a credit for that.
