Clever scammers will create the self-moderated thread from the beginning ?  wouldn't they ? We cannot stop them in the first place.

Also this does not means if anyone create self-moderated thread for a service / ANN , then his motive behind is to scam.
Yes, that's true... it's why we should be careful when we see brandnew/newbie account create self-moderated thread especially in marketplace, lending or announcement (altcoins) section.

I agree with @tranthidung, enabling non-self-moderated thread to self-moderated thread would help scammer to hide his evil activity

One of this example is Sudoku wallet, I never think this project become scam since the dev/team is responsible to solve the bug or problem from his customer, also they have run signature campaign for 4 weeks. But now this project become scam since there's one victim complain in their ANN [1]. Fortunately the thread is non-self-moderated thread, so he can't delete any users post.

Newbie scammers or stupid scammers don't know the self-moderated option or they forgot to activate it. The hidden option somewhat help to fight against scammers.

The right usecase of self-moderated option is emphasized so clearly by theymos, who created that option for us. I don't argue with you on that.  Cheesy
The excluded sections are Meta (except for this topic), Scam Accusations, Important Announcements, and Auctions. Tagged scammers can't use this feature. You don't have to participate in self-moderated topics if you're worried about manipulation by the OP.

Logical reason is to avoid scammers convert from non-self-moderated threads to self-moderated ones when their scam threads are detected by community. Then the conversion will help scammers easily to silent the community by deleting proofs in other posts.

Forget to choose self-moderated option? Solution is there: Move it to archival, rename the thread, and create a new thread with self-moderated option (only helpful in first minute or hours after you create threads).

I think ModZ will never going to delete old threads for it could be a good reference one day. <…>
You misinterpreted what I said:

<…> I’ve read some threads where people complained about others leaving the topic redirection post displayed for a long time. Some suggested deleting it after some time to cleanse the boards.
I was referring to the topic redirection (as shown in the second image within the OP). Redirects are traces that indicate that a certain topic has been move to another board/childboard. They are optional, and not heavily used, but some people find them irritating if left for a long time.

On the other hand, my previous local board moderator used them frequently and then deleted them after a few days. I liked that habit, since it allowed us to see easily which was the correct board a given thread should have been placed in to begin with (sometimes I would follow all the moderator's redirects to understand better thread placement).

Don't forget to make link thread move to the correct board.

In case you use this feature to move your thread to Archival, I highly recommend to adjust its title with Archival at beginning or end of the initial title. Choose 'Change the topic's subject'

It will be especially helpful for you later (only in case you create bunches of threads) on the topic history list page (use the code)

With the indicator Archival you will now which of your threads are in Archival board.
Code:
https://bitcointalk.org/gettopics.php?user=youruserid

Sometimes after creating the topic, one feels he should have created it a self-moderated one or at other times one intend to create a self-moderated topic but forgets to click on Self-moderated option. I always wonder why there is no option to convert to self-moderated later.
Any logical reason for this ?

This lesson and topic will really make people to prevent themselves to feel a sudden panic when they posted in a wrong board. I remember the time where I posted a certain topic in a wrong board and I don't know what to do at first, but as I explore this forum, I found out that it is really easy to move a topic and there's nothing to worry and panic about. This guide that OP have made for those people who are ignorant about it, will be enlighten to move a topic without struggle.

A good lesson and can be useful for beginners who create threads in this forum. Although it looks easy, this method will be very useful for adjusting each topic to be discussed. this will also ease the work of the moderator, so that the moderator no longer needs to move on other people's topics.
because the moderator's work may be enough already.

I think ModZ will never going to delete old threads for it could be a good reference one day.  It couls be good also to be available for the search to display. It may be an old threads but it will be still useful with some information in it. Besidea it will not cost much space in the forum I guess so there is no need to problem about it.

Anyway, whatever the Modz will do, I do believe that it is for the good of the forum so we should have trust in them for this matter.

<…> I just want to know if how many times you can able to move topic in different specific boards.
Technically, there are no limits, but if one takes on the habit of moving a thread around different boards, he’ll likely get reported to a moderator. The core idea of moving topics is to place it in the board that is more fitting. On some occasions, a very informative thread may seem fitting in a couple of boards, and the OP may decide to move it around every now and then (I recall a couple of cases, but not many, so it is more of an exceptional behaviour).

Sometimes though, moving a thread around can lead to interpretive disputes, such as in this case: Moving threads from board to board in a seek of merits?.

Strangely enough, it seems that if a mod moves a thread, you can actually get to move it back (see What's the essence of reporting topic to be moved if they can be moved back). This is not something I’d do, but that seems technically feasible.

I’ve read some threads where people complained about others leaving the topic redirection post displayed for a long time. Some suggested deleting it after some time to cleanse the boards.

We can observed it happening always. Even high rank members sometime confuses on these. I myself I thought Im posting it on the right board then I noticed it was moved.

There is nothing wrong if you posted a thread on wrong boards, that is why bitcointalk have moderators and encourages people to report. Wink

Myself noticed few times with my threads it always have been moved to its child boards.

Afaik there is no bot mentions when our threads get moved.

Great work OP, this is indeed useful to the newbie in this forum. Creating topic like this does not mean that it is not wanted because there are other topics created like this. Since those topic like these were being locked away or already been not visible even to the next pages then reviving it or creating new might be great. I have learn this moving out of topic before and because of this it remind me also of moving some of my topics being remove before as not relevant to the section where it should be.

I have been in years in the forum since I'm joining but honestly, I didn't try this, moving a topic to any specific boards that you want.
That is because you prolly start your threads in the correct board, so you've not had to use the option of move topic, another reason users move their threads is if the replies to their post is below what they want or haven't yet got the answer they crave, they move it to a different, more active board for further discussions.
I just want to know if how many times you can able to move topic in different specific boards.
As many times as possible, you can even move it out of one section to another, and still take it back there later on, but moving topics all around would be annoying btw, if done excessively, you could be warned by the moderators.

Is there a notification if our topic got move?

Maybe yes or no, It could be watch list to do?

Edit: new features:
- You can watch and unwatch topics you post to by using the checkbox in "additional options" when posting.
- You can have topics you post in be watched automatically by setting an option in your notification settings.
- You can move all topics you've posted in to your watchlist on this page.
- You can edit watchlist entries here.

I just want to know if how many times you can able to move topic in different specific boards.

I never try it, Seems user can move many times but it could break the rules.

I have made this silly mistake in couple of weeks ago, I mistaking posted a topic in off topic board meanwhile was meant to sit in beginners and help section. Thanks a lot for this guild, and it's a good one OP,  I'm keen to learning new thing onboard or outboard of forum.
When people create a new topic, there is an important hidden option: Self-moderated. They have to choose the option at beginnings because creators can not choose this option later (if not choose at beginning). In the other words, it is a sort of one-way process.

There are board like Metan where the option is not allowed so that if you have a self-moderated thread in Beginners & Help at beginnings and move it later to Meta board, the self-moderation rights will be disable automatically.

Moreover, you can not choose this option later even if you move the thread back to Beginners & Help.

Also please see:
In most sections, you now have the option of marking topics self-moderated when creating them. In self-moderated topics, the OP can delete replies. The option for enabling this is under "additional options". Topics cannot be converted to self-moderated topics after creation.
In addition, thanks for this great teachings. I think I'm gearing up on a greater wheel.
