The dev should have known not to use a "celebrity" name, especially his. There is no parody, it was an attempt to cash in on a "celebrity".

I thought it was named 'Coinye' or something.

On another note, people seem to think that the image was on Kanye West. I think they either changed it, or it started out as the 'Gay Fish' from South Park.

Yeah i'm sure it was called coinye ... and that little gay fish looks nothing like that weird horrible looking dude from what i can see.

There seems to be a few week links in their chain leading to this student, and basically messing his life up.

Seriously there are NO legal students on this entire board that can give any indication as to whether this guy is screwed or has a chance here?

I would totally be willing to argue the fact nobody could damage his reputation. I mean just being married to some dirtbag that has her own public porno, and openly admits to spending 250k on more plastic modifications on herself whilst hard working americans are scratching a living in many cases..... really you can damage this kind of reputation anyway? i thought the entire idea was that these kind of people are public spectacles so that you may experience revulsion and down right loathing.... are you saying that is not their purpose for being constantly in the media?  The average citizen  views these types as having some kind of positive reputation...lol   A little fish that could be related to him through some distant joke.... or married to a real life trout that sluts around wasting money on her lard ass? ......i wonder what could do more damage...

Wow, strange times.......

That is your opinion or this is the legal standpoint here?, no argument possible ... total clean cut just like that?

Did you read about the stundent now getting sued by kanye west or whatever his name is?

His legal team seem to be hounding this student and basically ruining his life and future career.

Are there any legal experts around here that can give this person some advice or help?

1. what are the facts here?  is parody okay?

2. is this not a bit of a stretch houding this person that does not seem to even be part of the dev team?

3.  kanye and his legal team ...are they not over-stepping/ over reaching here?

4. how can they say he has to hire some legal representation in new york to fight his case?

5. he is a student in the netherlands right? how can they force him to do anything over in the US?

6. If they are over-reaching and causing undue damage to his character and his future career and health... what possible counter measures can he take. I mean stress, loss of education, job prospects ruined etc... could run into 10000s .

7. The coin - i mean there is no guarantee it would have been the next LTC but i'm sure this constant pressure applied on this parody coin has certainly knocked a few million from it's market cap. I mean even i personally was about to plough my entire crypto wealth into it until they started hounding anyone who had anything to do with it. So there's around 50 bucks it lost already.  Potentially millions of dollars in damages to that crypto currency.

Let's not just speculate if we have no idea really. Are there any person on this board that have knowledge and experience on the best thing to do in this persons case?

Should we get a donations pot for helping him at least hire some legal expertise for this situation?

the actual student being sued has started posting on the thread now too.
