Clean Energy on Bitcoin Harbor.

List price is only 300.00BTC, but if you want him to build it for you that will be 61,000 BTC.

Not sure about more expensive, but on another thread someone's selling a 1999 Hyundai Elantra for 750 BTC... definitely the most overpriced  Grin

it might be more relevant to see the most expensive thing actually sold

in dollars or bitcoins? coz someone sold 2 pizzas for 10,000 btc... that's pretty expensive in bitcoins.

Interesting thread...

I'm not trying to hijack it, but it might be more relevant to see the most expensive thing actually sold, since anyone can ask an outrageous price and not actually have a transaction.

I agree with you.

If someone insists on paying me in bitcoins I will tell him to convert it on MtGox then send it to me.

why?

i can't think of a single good reason to do that, unless bitcoin price is falling.

I think its great that people can buy things with bitcoin, but with the high amount of fraud Ive seen -- ill send my bitcoins to exchange, turn them into USD and then make my purchases...

Really?!?  I'd much rather be paid with an irreversible, unfakable, instant-transfer, low-fee money. In fact, when I see a Bitcoin payment come through to me, I'm relieved because I know at that point my risk is zero.

Why can't you do that instead?

The two options are (a) send bitcoins, convert to USD; (b) send USD.  If I were selling a car, I would rather be paid in bitcoins than cash.  I have no way of verifying that cash is genuine; I can't rely on paypal to go unreversed; I can't rely on a bank transfer or a credit card; I trust a bitcoin transfer though -- real value has been transferred to me.  The price volatility would mean I would convert to fiat pretty rapidly; but for "sending" money, bitcoins win.

Fraud is nothing to do with bitcoin, the problem there is that the victims weren't used to working with true digital cash; but that is a sword that cuts both ways -- send me some bitcoins and I know they are mine.

I currently have an ad on my website where somebody is selling a 250g gold bar for 1800 BTC:

that's cheap: 250 g is worth 9 750 USD in 2010 average gold price. That's 5.40 USD for one BTC. Even if the 2011 gold price is higher.

1800 btc is worth $19,800... so how is that cheap... sounds like double the price.
