is 2.5x enough for you? 250x is better Lips sealed

I think BitFinex is 2.5x

250x leverage on bitcoin would be highly irresponsible!!!

that last was shortly after the linode hacks, ZT force-changed everyone's deposit addresses on the deposit page, as it wasn't certain if the keys for those were compromised. ZT had to manually approve the deposit/withdrawals from those addresses which took time. Don't know if the others are similar circumstances.

Also on the page was a  link to the press release about the hack, underneath the right hand status box. Unfortunately it wasn't particularly well highlighted.

it took me a bit of time to get the coins on bitcoinia as it's first time I have actually used it in anger, I have the long now, would have preferred to have paid less for it but so be it...

No stops or limit offers in. Or at least, the margin call is the stop Smiley

At least you got the coins there. This seems to be anything but sure:

The long I mentioned above would already be in the green :-)
Naturally fluctuations will cause it to bounce red/green but it looks pretty good at the moment.

I have no intention of trying to manipulate the market; this just seems like an opportunity to me. I will not be doing it with very many bitcoins, either absolutely or as a proportion of the number I have.

Spread is a bugger and to be honest I think anyone trading short term using bitcoinia is an idiot, but I am not in it for a few ticks. On the other hand I don't really trust bitcoinia, or at least it's not the kind of institution I would want to keep a balance at for very long, so I would like to be out within weeks/months.

Way I see this is that gearing is an alternative term for leverage for a reason Smiley

Your problem is the spread. And if you have more than a little cash market depth. If you are thinking about holding up the price do it when it would stay there on its own... you guess it's pretty hard to spot.

The large players are running out of steam and the people who also sold seem to be slowing down.

There is a large gap between bid/ask when you get to the 5K level of BTC.
Going long between 4.93-4.97 is a reasonable bet to get out at 5.05 or so in the short term.
Things seem really over sold at the moment.

I cannot see the price continually dropping over the course of the next week. All those people
who sold will want back in at some price point once the dust settles. Also I think people enjoy
buying below 5 since it seems pretty stable at that price point.

pourquoi?

I assume there's no fundamental driver here, right?

If not, seems a sensible time to deposit some of my unleveraged bitcoins into bitcoinia, go long bitcoins at 2.5x leverage into the headless chickens.

If it goes wrong no problem, just means my next bitcoin purchase is at a better rate.

As always, moderation and avoiding overtrading is the key.
