How come Libra vs Ripple you make discussion, did you get how to buy Libra coin until today without have many information where we can purchase Libra coin, just make discussion price with altcoin have listing on exchange market, you waste your time with Libra without have new update with their coin, maybe team Libra have gone and Libra coin cancel opening or selling to public investor.
Lol, I get your points, it is better to focus and discuss more on projects that we can see physically and know the effect than project that is yet to be born and still facing lot of criticism from the government, but still at that, we cannot over look this proposed project coming from a well-known organization which we can be sure that the project will go ahead and be launched, and since we are at least 60% sure of its launching, I don’t think that there is actually anything bad in discussing it.

I also think the reason why the op chose to compare it with ripple is because they have similar operation based on what the team or developers have stated in their abstract and it is better we discuss it now to know if they will have our full support or not because without our own support, I don’t see Libra coin going anywhere, but I still prefer their own operation to that of ripple because it is still quite independent of government.

Libra is a new crypto plan that will work with world banks, while XRP has been running it for several years. I think if XRP increases collaboration with many companies, of course XRP will be superior to Libra. Although Libra is supported by a Facebook company.

Although Ripple has the collaboration of many companies, I think that Libra would turn out to reign supreme upon launch. This is because, Facebook is a well-recognized company within the mainstream world. Not to mention, it has a lot of capital to sustain its global blockchain ledger. This would allow Facebook to form partnerships with renowned companies in order to increase mainstream adoption of the Libra stablecoin.

Despite this, it seems that Libra won't become a reality in the long run due to regulatory pressure from worldwide governments. In this case, Ripple's XRP has already won as it's a centralized cryptocurrency with a lot of partnerships from worldwide banks. Without a direct competitor, Ripple can work with banks in order to transform our economy as we know it. Perhaps in the future, if XRP becomes highly successful, we'll be able to see stablecoins living on the XRP ledger that are issued by mainstream companies and central banks alike. This would be largely possible with XRP than Libra, since after all, Ripple has regulatory approval from worldwide governments.

Nonetheless, time will tell us if Libra will become a reality someday or not. In the meantime, XRP will continue to perform as intended by delivering frictionless payments at a fraction of the cost. If we were to compare both cryptocurrencies, then I'd say that they're likely the same in terms of transaction capacity. This is because their underlying consensus algorithms (as well as their centralized model) allow them to process thousands of TPS with ease. Just my opinion Smiley

Considering that Facebook's Libra will be an extremely centralized cryptocurrency, it might very well be adopted by financial institutions within the mainstream world. Ripple's XRP also has the same purpose where it could drive mainstream payments in a fast and cheap way, backed by many Banks worldwide. While both Libra and XRP have their similarities (in terms of centralization) they're certainly different by design.

If Libra's launch becomes a success, then XRP's existence may be threatened over the long term. Both cryptocurrencies would battle head-to-head in order to become the top choice of Banks worldwide. Comparing Libra vs XRP, Ripple has all the possibilities of taking the lead because of the many partnerships it has established with Banks worldwide.

Which is why, it makes me wonder whenever Libra will become the currency of the world or XRP? Or will they co-exist in the future? Huh

yeah i think the presence of libra coins can indeed threaten ripple because both of them are blockchain centralized coins. and both come from a company not based on mining. but the ripple now ranks third in the top coins and already has a large capitalization and trading volume. so in my opinion it's quite difficult for libra to defeat the ripple. and we also do not understand that libra will be released properly next year or not because until now libra continues to be attacked by bad news.

neither one because they are both centralized and your question is exactly similar to asking whether Paypal would become the "currency of the world"!
obviously these centralized monies have their place in the world and it won't change any time soon if ever. but they won't become dominant in the world, ever. there are always better solutions such as fiat and decentralized bitcoin.

if the comparison is only between XRP and LIBRA then obviously Libra is the winner because unlike ripple, facebook isn't a shitty small company running a shady business. although Facebook has its own shadiness but it is a gigantic company with a recognized brand.

Of course, the aforementioned cryptocurrencies are centralized without a doubt. But being similar, they can compete against each other for supremacy. So far, Ripple (the company) is new to the mainstream world while Facebook has been established for quite some time. It has the experience to move on with anything, unlike Ripple. With an ample user base, and plenty of capital, Facebook's Libra can easily take down Ripple's XRP in an instant. The real deal would be governments and central banks worldwide, since they're afraid that Libra can replace the current economic system. They don't worry much about "XRP", since Ripple company is still small compared to Facebook (which is a social media giant). Facebook has greater capital than Ripple itself, allowing it to build a robust Blockchain system that can withstand the test of time. With this, Facebook's Libra will be capable of achieving greater TPS and than XRP.

Nonetheless, it's no secret that Libra hasn't launched yet. Which means that XRP will still be in the lead of centralized DLT payments for quite some time. The regulatory pressure will make things difficult for Facebook to be able to release its stablecoin to the public. Ripple's XRP will continue to be prominent in the world of finance with its bank partnerships, until Facebook or another mainstream company decides to threaten its existence. Just my opinion Smiley

Libra is a currency that is planned to be issued by a well-known company, "Facebook". But many European countries oppose the pros and cons of the Libra project. Finally I heard that Libra will comply with US regulations which also prohibit the realization of this project. If Libra can be realized, then I'm sure Libra will be a tough competitor for other crypto companies including XRP. But right now I'm not sure that Libra will realize this project in 2020. What do you think?

I think it's too soon to say Libra will threaten XRP. because XRP has been around since 2013 and has become the dominant coin in the crypto market. already has a large volume of trade and community. while the new Libra will be released, we don't yet know how and what it looks like. even now there is already a lot of negative news about libra. Libra repudiation from European countries and the United States. and some large companies that support now either choose to leave or don't support libra. so I think XRP will stay ahead of Libra.

As for now this vision is still out of sight, as the obstacles that they are facing right now, their partners are pulling out one by one, and their other partners are starting to doubt the project.
If this will continue, the possibility for libra to crash is high. They cant dominate the market if this wont be solve.
Since libra been a hot topic here in forum for quite  a long time then it tends to compare in differerent stablecoins to XRP in terms of money transfer. Libra still have many potential to launch despite of back-out of big partnership since some thinks Facebook alone can monitors and make it succeed. But XRP is already one of top coins and been surviving in the volatility of the market so I also think Libra can't outrun XRP just because it is launched, they still need to solve all the disputes they are in now and the future to face XRP.

When compared to these two coins, I predict Libra is superior, because libra is a stable coin, almost certainly more accepted
globally by the world. Unlike xrp which is not a stable coin so the price is more volatile. Then excess libra compared to xrp
was created as an alternative payment like fiat USD. So you can be sure of the libra's future can be used to make payments
in marketplaces such as amazon, ebay, alibaba and of course it can be used make various daily bill payments. While xrp is not
possible because it is not included as a stable coin. The advantage of xrp is only one compared to libra, which is that as an
asset for trading on exchanges, can get large profits if we invest in xrp.

Agree, if it is launched, I think Libra Coin can beat the value of the XRP market cap. Support from Facebook certainly affects investor confidence and if it is launched, Libra Coin could dominate online transactions in the future

Ripple primarily focuses on promoting financial institutions to adopt XRP, unlike Facebook that plans to integrate Libra into its popular social networking platforms like WhatsApp or Instagram.
At the present time, if have to compare, the win is in favor of XRP. XRP complies with legal regulations throughout its 6 years of operation, which shows that Ripple is involved with the government at every step. In the meantime, Libra has had a lot of troubles with regulatory agencies.

Both of these coins are centralized and although the financial bodies are partnering with xrp, it doesn't mean Libra will get that support. They all put forward what they want and if facebook can do that, they won't get partnerships. I know facebook's CEO is one guy who like to do things by himself and no partnerships. This may affect him.

The fact and bottom line is that Libra may be widely accepted but it may not be able to compete with bitcoin and the old currencies and even if things are done underground, to make Libra the best coin,  it shall be noted. We all know of how people criticize xrp for the kind of management that goes on with xrp issuance.

That's certainly true, mate. Despite these facts, I believe that Libra might turn to become successful in the long term due to branding recognition (Facebook). After all, Facebook is the world's largest social media conglomerate where most people have heard of it. That mainstream recognition could prove to be beneficial towards Libra itself, as the chances of adopting the cryptocurrency for everyday transactions becomes greater over time. In contrast, XRP's Ripple company is not well known within the mainstream world. It may have gathered a lot of bank partnerships, but it may all come to an end once Libra becomes prominent upon launch. We've seen the most recognized companies of the world backing Libra (like eBay, PayPal, Visa, etc). Libra could gain a competitive advantage over XRP because of its greater support of businesses and corporations worldwide.

Which is why, I believe that it'll be survival of the fittest between both Libra and XRP. Being centralized cryptocurrencies, shows us that they may get the attention they deserve within the financial industry. However, they'll never defeat Bitcoin or other decentralized cryptocurrencies because of the way they're designed. After all, Bitcoin is the one cryptocurrency which started the crypto craze. Companies, businesses, central banks, and governments worldwide began interested into Bitcoin's blockchain technology after its inception. In the end, no matter how hard these centralized cryptocurrencies try (Libra and XRP), they'll never become a replacement of established cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum. As time goes by, we'll see how successful Libra and XRP will turn out to be within the mainstream world. Just my thoughts Grin

the both of them use blockchain for make transaction, i don't think if Blockchain technology is a centralized and i don't agree if XRP is a centralized if we understand about blockchain mechanism.

i'm not a fan of XRP we can't say XRP is a centralized even many supply XRP are hold by Ripple team, but i can't say if XRP are centralized coin
Can you say if ripple isn't a centralized coin after reading this article
https://www.investopedia.com/news/why-some-claim-ripple-isnt-real-cryptocurrency-0/#targetText=Ripple%20has%20no%20mining%20or,much%20power%20the%20miners%20have.
I hope you can get the main point why ripple is a centralized coin
i will try to quote the important massage from that article
Quote
Ripple has no mining or miners whatsoever. Instead, transactions are powered through a “centralized” blockchain to make it more reliable and fast. Mining is a core tenet of most other cryptocurrencies, and each uses their own system to determine how much power the miners have.
that's more than enough to proves if ripple is centralized.

I think Libra and XRP will coexist, even though there is a fight inside.  Grin This is the same as the USD which is used as the world currency rate, but EUR still has a high value compared to USD.

If Libra becomes a reality, then it might compete with the XRP ledger as we know it. Of course, Libra will be a stable coin whereas XRP will remain as a speculative cryptocurrency. But I believe that Libra will directly compete with XRP in its technical aspects. It will only be a matter of which cryptocurrency is the most scalable one for the mainstream world. The main advantage XRP has on top of Libra, is the first-mover advantage on the market. It already has obtained many partnerships from banks worldwide. If Libra wants to take down XRP's place, then it would need a lot of effort for sure.

Considering that both cryptos are centralized, they will fit the bill nicely towards transforming the world's economy as we know it. But they cannot destroy Bitcoin or other well-known cryptocurrencies because of their decentralized design. Both Libra and XRP's success will not have any effect on Bitcoin or altcoins whatsoever. But be aware, that Libra's popularity within the mainstream world might help increase Blockchain adoption towards astronomical levels. It's only a matter of time before Libra launches by 2020 (hopefully) in order to rival the existence of XRP. Even if it doesn't overcome XRP, both ledgers could exist alongside each other for years to come.

Nonetheless, time will tell us what will be the fate of these centralized cryptocurrencies within the mainstream world. Just my opinion Smiley

Libra and XRP focused on payments. I believe that Libra can be used as payment in buying on some stuff on facebook. But, there are some differences with these two coins. XRP, is not a stable coin, which means it can grow so much! But libra is, so Libra is just focusing on being a payment for things to buy unlike XRP, it could be use to buy something if a site accepts XRP coins.

Agree. Both Libra and XRP can be used for many different things in real life. Since Libra is known to become a stablecoin, it can be used in nearly the same way as the USD or any other Fiat currency to date. Mainstream businesses and merchants will be able to use Libra because of its flexibility in this regard. On the other hand, XRP can be used as both a speculative instrument and a payment system for bank transfers. The distributed ledger itself proves to be highly versatile for sending minuscule payments at the lowest costs possible. Banks can leverage the benefits of the XRP ledger in order to provide customers faster and cheaper remittances. Which is why, I believe that instead of replacing XRP or Libra, it's best for both cryptocurrencies to head their separate ways for the foreseeable future.

Nonetheless, Libra might be neck-and-neck towards XRP after launch as they're both centralized payment systems. XRP has first-mover advantage in the market, which might take Libra a lot of effort to be able to gain massive traction within the market. But in the bright side, Libra's success will be Blockchain's gain within the mainstream world. Just my opinion Smiley

Between the both of them I’d say that Facebook Libra will likely take the lead, though they might both coexist. Facebook is big and I believe they have more connections than Ripple will ever do because the company has been around for a very long time and is well established. So, the fight between the both of them is only going to favor Facebook and when it comes to usage, I believe that fb Libra will also have more usage and adoption than Ripple because, this is one of the biggest platform that we are talking about here, a platform that has been around for years.

So, it’s definitely going to take the lead. It hasn’t been released yet but I already seen a list of companies that plans to adopt it as soon as it’s released. I even saw eBay on the list of the companies that are going to be using Libra when it gets released. By the time you know what’s happening, Libra has already taken everything to itself.

I've seen Facebook's Libra partnerships, and I have to say that there are many mainstream companies supporting it. In contrast, XRP only has Bank partnerships (as far as I know) but it lacks a real use case for the mainstream world. As Libra will be a stablecoin pegged to the value of $1 USD, it'll have greater use cases than XRP upon launch. People might quickly adopt Libra since they're already used to Facebook's social network platform. Despite some differences between both cryptocurrencies, there's a possibility that Libra might prevail in the long run.

Still though, the success of each cryptocurrency will largely depend on how much they're adopted within the mainstream world. So far, XRP has first-mover advantage with a lot of people using it. Libra hasn't even launched yet, which means that it'll take some time before it'll obtain the necessary user base to become as comparable as XRP. Whatever the case may be, it's becoming evident that Blockchain technology will take the world by storm. Our current monetary system will become improved in every way.

Nonetheless, it'll be interesting to know how everything unfolds upon Libra's launch by 2020. If it becomes a success, then we'll know if it'll co-exist with XRP or completely replace it over time. Just my opinion Smiley

I don't see Libra to disturb xrp in any way just like other blockchain coin are doing their thing even though btc was first and now we have over 2000 in market and many are still coming , so I see no road block for any coin in competition with new ones , as every one will do their thing separate way to achieve their aim.

Isn't Libra more of a ecosystem while XRP is for settlement?
XRP will be outclassed anyway as it can't survive on settlement alone.
Come on, both coins can exist quietly, huge investors are spinning around there who simply earn money on these coins, so I don’t think that these two coins will have a bad outcome

They can co-exist yes as they don't serve the same purpose, but XRP will be outclassed by other alternatives(not Libra).

Exactly my thought. The two currencies can co-exist since they ain't having same functions and purposes.

With the evolution of lightning-network kind of third party integration, I guess centralized cryptos cannot enjoy and cannot attract adopters/investors anymore.

Maybe. But, it's said that some altcoins will still exist even after the success of Bitcoin's Lightning Network. After all, XRP being a centralized cryptocurrency, has performed 10x better than most altcoins without the need of the Lightning Network. Transactions are dirt cheap, and fees are ridiculously low thanks to the consensus algorithm used by XRP. Of course, both Libra and XRP will have their distinct purposes within the mainstream world. One will be used as a stablecoin, greatly mimicking the US Dollar, while the other will be used as a means to facilitate payments between Banks worldwide.

Whenever Libra launches by 2020 or not, it's yet to be seen. But if it becomes a reality, it would need to face some stiff competition especially from centralized cryptocurrencies and traditional payment processors. Given that XRP has a lot of Bank partnerships, and an already established user-base, it'll be hard to outpace it. Despite this, I believe that both cryptocurrencies will head their separate ways as they'll be used for unique purposes in life.

Nonetheless, we can only compare Libra vs XRP directly once Facebook's digital currency becomes a reality. Only then, we can measure TPS and the level of user adoption among both cryptocurrencies, in order to determine which is best from the other. Even so, Libra will be completely different from XRP because it'll look more like a real US Dollar (USD) instead of a cryptocurrency. Just my thoughts Grin

Isn't Libra more of a ecosystem while XRP is for settlement?
XRP will be outclassed anyway as it can't survive on settlement alone.
I think I would have to agree with you on this, I haven't been a fan of xrp right from it is onset and I will never be a fan as long as I know that the project is not decentralized but centralized, I think libra has more chance of survival because of the backing it has, we all know that Facebook is a big company and mark has a huge influence in the world at large, unlike ripple that struggle so much in other to gain traction in the crypto sphere. Libra coin is no treat to bitcoin in anyway because they are going to coexist.

as both Libra and XRP are centralized they'll be able to reach massive TPS far beyond reach of decentralized cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum.
With the evolution of lightning-network kind of third party integration, I guess centralized cryptos cannot enjoy and cannot attract adopters/investors anymore.

Okay so there should be really a choice here right? Grin

I'd pick XRP over Libra.
XRP dont have an application like facebook which could also trace your relatives if something goes wrong.

I dont want that.
My problem should stay with me and I dont want them bothering amyone who is close to me.

I think that is one of their difference and also of course trust.
In crypto world, XRP dominates while the other will use his social media company to get what he wants.

Same. Personally, I wouldn't prefer Libra over XRP, because Facebook is well-known to invade people's privacy. While both cryptocurrencies are centralized, XRP has at least greater respect for users' privacy than Facebook itself. In terms of dominance within the financial sector, XRP is in the lead by a long shot. There are many Banks which are partnered with Ripple, aiming to improve our economy for the better. While XRP is volatile (unlike Libra), it has a greater advantage than Libra because of its first-mover advantage. In case Libra never launches, we'll still have XRP where Ripple can decide to issue a stablecoin of its own if it desires anytime.

Despite these facts, neither XRP nor Libra will be able to overcome Bitcoin anytime soon. Their level of centralization greatly defeats the true purpose of Blockchain technology. Still though, both Libra and XRP would do great in the mainstream world as they transform our current monetary system. For both of these cryptocurrencies to reach their potential, they would need to have the "green light" from most governments worldwide. So far, Libra has been having a hard time keeping up with regulations while XRP is already regulatory-compliant (as far as I know). Which is why, the odds of Libra becoming a reality seem to be smaller each day.

Nonetheless, as both Libra and XRP are centralized they'll be able to reach massive TPS far beyond reach of decentralized cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum. This would allow them to be massively adopted by people in the mainstream world, as fees remain low and transaction speeds remain relatively fast on the network. But Libra will be used more like the USD, while XRP would be used more as a speculative asset in the long run. Just my opinion Smiley

So ripple found a real competitor for itself, but so much has recently appeared a lot of information about the fact that the Libra will not be launched, the Ripple will still emerge victorious from this battle.  Although it seems to me that it is the technology itself that is most interested in some companies, and not the XRP  coin itself.

Huh

Gosh, how can we know anything until we tried it? Ripple is used mostly by banks. Libra token is more a social project. They have different aims. I can guess that by its popularity, Libra can become a leader in a year even. By the market capitalization, Ripple will be up - too many rich organizations cooperate with Ripple and invest their money in it.

No one is certain when we do talk about the future but these possible stable coins would still exist on future years to come on high chances.

Libra isn't launched yet but this would tie out with centralized XRP as well in the entire marketshare and I wont really be surprised with that.

Maybe LIBRA will excel, because this coin is controlled by Facebook and several other large companies that are members of the Libra Association. The Libra Association or Libra Association is an independent, non-profit, 28-member company. The association is based in Geneva, Switzerland, and will oversee the big decisions regarding Libra digital coins.
Whereas Ripple is a cryptocurrency that cannot be regulated by any institution (organization), government, or even its creator.
Has advantages over other Crypto coins, namely cheaper payments, and faster payment.
Then we just wait for what will happen later, if the two coins are already both running.

Not only XRP but also many other altcoins. Libra will not be as is is planed right now, but will evolve way wider. XRP and other coins will simply not be able to compete with Facebook marketing and reputation.

Libra vs XRP, maybe the more appropriate libra and the best friend xrp. All is centralized coins, not cryptocurrency. For me, i will stay away from these 2 coins. People still trust both but if they learn more about crypto he will realize, this is shitcoins
I think those two coins will be good going forward. we know that XRP currently has a low price. that is because there has been no price recovery from altcoin. however, when compared to libra, I think people will choose libra. of course because libra is a stable coin, and will most likely be recognized by almost all facebook users. besides, there are many advantages when libra has been launched later.

If Libra Coin becomes a launch, I think XRP will have difficulty competing with Libra Coin. With the support of the biggest social media in the world, namely Facebook and also platforms like WhatsApp or Instagram, Libra Coin has the potential to become big. In addition, Libra coins have partnerships with Master Card and Visa so Libra coin holders can shop at merchants more easily

XRP and Libra, although centralized, they cannot be the currency of the world, why because they are controlled by particular set of people and not by the government of any nation or control. So, if there is going to be a unified digital currency, another one might be created.

it is likely that xrp investors will move to libra. libra is a big threat to xrp but not to bitcoin. if libra is really launched i am sure xrp will really crash.
There is absolutely no doubt about this fact that ripple will really become a thing of the past because to me, ripple as even been an artificially pumped coin to me, because I don’t see where their volume is coming from, but on the other hand, Facebook as a very large community that would accept their technology and then make it highly have a record that will supersede that of Ripple.

Unfortunately, it seems that ripple prayer has been answered as Facebook may really not be able to launch that project because it seems that the project is not only a threat to some of these cryptocurrencies, but also kind of a threat to the world economic power as many of these government fears that they could lose their power to Facebook owner, so there has been series of attacked from every corner of the world against the cryptocurrency.

I think in the long run, LIBRA and XRP will coexist, that's if Libra will still launch. XRP has outstanding project development records so far with some cool products like Xrapid and huge partnerships, hence I doubt if LIBRA will outshine it. I'm not really a fan of centralized architectures but since they gear towards crypto adoption, then both XRP and Libra are great.

absolutely right, Libra coin is the combined result of many companies including Facebook and maybe because Facebook is the biggest company of all involved they give full rights to Facebook as a product marketer.

Let's wait until Facebook releases Libra, then we will compare it with other projects and coins. At this stage, we have only promises and it is foolish to compare them with already working projects.

NO, they are fundamentally different. They purposes are completely different. Libra will be targeting small txs for every day use , with largely collecting your transaction history and then using it.

XRP is something that is aiming to replace SWIFT.

Libra is a stable coin. XRP is not backed by anything.
Libra is centralized. XRP is centralized.
Libra TPS - probably unlimited (since it is not a blockchain technology), XRP - 1500 TPS.
Libra will be restricted in some countries. XRP is not.  Smiley

Exactly. Those are one of the key differences between Libra and XRP. While Libra's focus is to be a stablecoin for the masses, it nearly serves the same purpose as XRP. This is largely because, both cryptocurrencies are centralized aiming to bring micropayments to the world via the use of Blockchain tech. XRP may not be backed by anything, but it has wide-spread support from major Banks worldwide. In terms of scalability, XRP can perform nearly the same TPS as Libra since they're both centralized. Some tweaks here and there should make XRP as scalable as Libra.

Still though, the launch of Libra by 2020 is highly uncertain as Facebook gave a notice within the SEC that it may not launch after all. This is probably, because regulations are too fierce for Facebook to comply with each and every one of them for Libra's legality within the mainstream world. If Libra never launches, then XRP will be in the lead of centralized payments for a very long time.

Nonetheless, in case Libra becomes a success, it may have a hard time trying to overcome XRP since it has first-mover advantage like Bitcoin and Ethereum. Despite this, Libra could serve well as a stablecoin for the masses that would enable mainstream payments while XRP will be the ideal system for Bank-to-Bank transfers worldwide at the lowest costs possible. Both Libra and XRP are against the very foundations Blockchain technology was created for. Which is why, no one knows what their outcome will be in the future as they could either fail or succeed by then. In the meantime, XRP is doing well despite being a centralized cryptocurrency. Being the world's third largest cryptocurrency by market cap, has a lot to say about it. Just my thoughts Grin

I don't know much about Libra coins, but I think the concept of Libra and Ripple will definitely be different, because libra is likely to be made in bulk, given a large number of Facebook users in the world, and the price of Libra will be pushed in the form of stable coins, so users can take advantage Libra and Facebook as a form of reward.

it is very difficult to compare Libra and XRP, because Libra only provides concepts and does not yet have a product, so in my opinion XRP is still better than Libra, because XRP is a project that has been older than Libra, thus making people believe to use XRP project rather than Libra, besides that XRP already has a product and of course XRP project has progressed.

Both coins are centralised and there is a risk of re-org in both blockchain-ledger. Facebook is not going to let the anonymous investors invest in the Libra and the requirements like KYC, AML will be more inconvenience for the crypto investors. XRP has the highest transactions per second feature and it is extensively used by big banks, payment systems that want to test the efficiency of the blockchain based payment transfers.

First point of correction, it is impossible for both to become the currency of the world, because for a currency to become a unified one, then it must win the support of the majority of the world leaders, I mean presidents who must append their signature and agree to use such currency, and I really doubt if there is ever going to be a time that these people will ever agree to use same currency, because everyone has their own interest.

I just read today that china is trying to build their own cryptocurrency too which I am not sure the new will be true, but let us assume there is element of  truth in it, china would rather prefer to have their own currency for the citizen, while other countries would do the same too. So just forget about these two coins becoming world’s coin.

Libra use BFT algorthim with POS system :
Quote
The Libra Blockchain uses a Byzantine Fault Tolerant algorithm, which can tolerate up to one third of the validators being malicious. Libra uses a Proof of Stake approach to determine membership in the algorithm, which ensures consistency and security.

that means, there is a limit for its transaction. But again, why would we compare them? Libra is a stable coin and XRP is an unstable coin. Both of them are different in the first place.

Huh
Libra and XRP have almost the same concept which believe Libra will take the crown from XRP due to level of support and the concept put together.
We still don't know for sure if the coin will be create, cause I learn that some governments are against the implementation of the coin because it will be pegged to some national currencies and the project features was believed by some governments official to cause obsolete of national currency which Libra will be pegged  cause people may prefer to use Libra rather than fiat.

It is true that Libra's launch will have its impact in the crypto market. Once its launch, its effect will be on transaction. As a result, other digital coins will face some sort of threats.

whatever LIBRA goes, I don't think Facebook can beat BTC neither XRP with LIBRA.

I heard some rumors that Libra Project by Facebook might be canceled

If Libra's launch becomes a success, then XRP's existence may be threatened over the long term.

This is a simple fact. Ripple is a whooped coin aready and I do not see how it will survive when Facebook Libra finally come up. With all the hood reviews ripple has over the years yet it is still in the cents per coin. It is even overvalued the way it is at present. I will not want to buy ripple for anything.

Libra is a stable coin. XRP is not backed by anything.
Libra is centralized. XRP is centralized.
Libra TPS - probably unlimited (since it is not a blockchain technology), XRP - 1500 TPS.
Libra will be restricted in some countries. XRP is not.  Smiley

Could be a good competition between the two, but unfortunately, Libra coin will not launch and they have to concede because of too many barriers that they are facing, it's very unfortunate the government consider them a big threat.
this article will tell it all why

CEO Ripple has firmly distinguished the core market of Facebook and Ripple. Social media giants Facebook will focus more on consumers and retail, while Ripple will focus on building "enterprise Infrastructure" and "connecting various payment networks.

Many people were bringing this up that libra is not a threat for BTC because it's centralized and it's meant to be a stable coin. It's more likely to be a threat for USDt and other centralized coins like XRP.

Libra has still a long way to go before it launches and grows beyond XRP's popularity. We'll see if it even launches at all. There's no big scare yet but next year can become scary for some altcoins if FB enters the market.

It may be too early to tell what will Libra's outcome be within the future, as it's not launched yet. XRP is widely known to be a first mover when it comes to delivering mainstream payments with its bank partnerships. It'll be hard for Libra to be able to compete with an already-established cryptocurrency that's trusted by serious banks worldwide. The main difference would be that Libra will retain its value of $1 per coin, while XRP's value would be highly volatile over time. But in terms of transaction capacity and fees, they'll be likely the same.

Considering how both cryptocurrencies are centralized, they can never be compared against Bitcoin and other popular altcoins on the market. Both Libra and XRP are just another banking system with the added benefits of Blockchain technology. Still though, the success of these cryptocurrencies will greatly contribute towards Blockchain adoption within the mainstream world. Nearly everyone worldwide would be using the Blockchain without even noticing it. Our economy will be transformed like never before, as it becomes efficient and "corruption-free".

Nonetheless, it'll be quite interesting to see how Libra will stand up against XRP after launch. If it manages to bring greater partnerships and a higher transaction capacity than XRP itself, then it might take the lead in the mainstream payments industry. What's left for us is to watch closely the development of Libra, until it launches within next year. Even if it doesn't become a reality, XRP could devise a stablecoin of its own in order to fulfill Facebook's vision of a worldwide currency. Just my thoughts Grin

Isn't Libra more of a ecosystem while XRP is for settlement?
XRP will be outclassed anyway as it can't survive on settlement alone.
Come on, both coins can exist quietly, huge investors are spinning around there who simply earn money on these coins, so I don’t think that these two coins will have a bad outcome

They can co-exist yes as they don't serve the same purpose, but XRP will be outclassed by other alternatives(not Libra).

Libra is the Facebook version of ripple, so both looks like same intention in the crypto market but ripple factor by the government where as Libra want to be the own Bank so XRP still has better chance of being adopted by the institutional investors.

We're keep reading comparisation about 2 or 3 coins in here. I think all of it is just vain.
But we can compare Libra and Ripple for some points. Both of these two is centralized, open for manipulation. Also both of has different structure. XRP is not stable against USD. Its value can change in market decision. But libra will be always 1$.

If Libra really launched in future i think XRP is not a big competitor, Facebook as a Libra creator is a giant company, and already have a giant partner too for Libra project, so Libra will be so strong financially. Also facebook with billions of user will be plus point for Libra adoption againts XRP. For coin use-case again i think Libra will be superior than XRP, XRP as long as i know only usefull for X-Rapid, many other bank only use ripple technology and not XRP coin. Maybe the only sector XRP can be more superior than Libra is on chain technology, because ripple is already exist since years ago

Yea libra is a big problem for XRP. Brad Garlinghouse (CEO of the Ripple) says that the banks need Ripple and XRP more than ever at the moment. But Facebook, Visa, Mastercard, Vodafone etc are not an easy competitor.

Well before we talk about the existence of libra against ripple better they must resolve the issue first against them and the US President. I think this is too early for comparison when the assurance of Libra to be released is un doubt.

But if this happens surely ripple will be in big trouble

While Libra has not yet determined its future, there is no news given that the US government will approve the Libra project. Facebook has also informed those who love Libra that it will probably not be launched or delayed indefinitely, so comparing a project has not yet been launched and a project is at the top of the CMC like XRP Is not right. At least wait for Libra to launch successfully to be comparable to XRP.
It's right. Now the threat of that the Libra coin may never appear at all is very real. Therefore, it is very early to compare such coins. However, these coins are really very different in nature and functions. Therefore, they should not compete with each other.

I don't think Libra is a threat to XRP. XRP has years of development specifically in the field of fast payments. Of course Facebook has the money to be a success in whatever field it chooses, but I don't think it is going after the same specific area as XRP. I am confident XRP will be a huge success, and Libra will not threaten it.

In my opinion both libra and xrp (https://www.crypto-rating.com/crypto-currencies/xrp/) can coexist , since they are kind of different and although there may be competition, they don't quite threaten each other.

Honestly, libra, shouldn't even be called a cryptocurrency. That centralized shit is tainting the reputation of true cryptos.
There are many centralized coin aside from Libra, but still its cryptocurrency. I read about the news hat Libra might not push through because of many criticism i guess and because of this XRP will still be ahead of all centralized coin. I don’t also want a centralized coin, but since traders always look for the chart, XRP is a good option.

I'm not sure about that,
if I believe that the existence of XRP will not be threatened, because the functions of Libra and XRP are different,
if libra focuses on stable coins, xrp focuses on payment transfer speeds,
a little different, though somewhat the same, but still the two will not threaten each other.

it seems to be more beautiful if side by side ...: D, but we realize this is about business, there must be competition.
If we compare ripple with other coins, I will remember when Vitalik ever wanted an apprenticeship in Ripple but was constrained because of the problem of residence permit which required Vitalik to return to his country. and we all know that now he is growing with ethereum and ripple still exists.

I think Libra and XRP will coexist, even though there is a fight inside.  Grin This is the same as the USD which is used as the world currency rate, but EUR still has a high value compared to USD.
