Well, it can't stay where it is and expect value to rise. I'm not sure miners are forcing the fee schedule or it's just the default clients, but if the latter it should be very simple to do.

RUM AND CARROTS: A PIRATE LIFE FOR ME
Welcome to Crypto! The high fees were the result of earlier attacks on the network by malicious users sending trillions of "dust transactions" which, similar to the current slowness of Terracoin, brought the network to a standstill. Now, you have to pay the fee because it keeps people for being able to afford the transaction spam of the past. Now that the value is up significantly, it's an issue, even though it was once the solution.

To fix it will require everyone updating their clients, but no reason why it couldn't be done.

I see new adopters complaining on other major sites claiming they are getting asked for 20%-40% in fees by the client, when sending as little as 1 LTC. ($4.50 US dollars equivalent)

How is this confiscatory tax even possible?  When I first read the reports I thought it was a bug but many users are reporting it.

With the rise in value - this needs to be fixed ASAP if anyone wants Litecoin taken seriously.

That kind of FEE makes this look like a scam, and new adopters are venting rage on other forums.
