It's nice to see crowdfunding effort being launched. In fact I don't mind contributing if it benefit the community. More than often what I can see is that some nice projects getting a kickstart and after it has reached the intended amount, there were no further news beyond that. It would be great, if there's a follow-up with pictures showing on what the funds has been used towards, some accounting ledger showing how the fund is distributed and such.

question.. if Im making an animated film crowdfunded via Lighthouse and would like to give supporters access to a member's area on the project website where theyd receive updates on the making of and how the project was progressing, how would I go about doing that? How will I know who sent what transaction? Is this something that will be in the final version?

How do I give my backers rewards?
On platforms like Kickstarter, project owners can choose to give backers rewards if they pledge more than a certain amount. Lighthouse has no built in features for managing this, but you can use the contact email address that pledges require to arrange shipment of rewards with the right people. The message field can be used for backers to tell you which reward they'd like.

Congrats!

So I guess you're officially the 1st Lighthouse sponsored project. Nice. Enjoy the crowdfunded snacks  Smiley

ps Is there any official thread for Lighthouse? Can't find anything (and getting "Searching is temporarily disabled" when searching)

I posted before bitcointalk went apesh*($ but anyways we launched a project on Lighthouse.

One of our members started a Lighthouse fundraising campaign just to test out the program.  It looks really cool.

1.  Download the lighthouse app here https://www.vinumeris.com/lighthouse

2.  Then download our project here: goo.gl/lqr4RN

3.  Import the file and send us 50 cents.  We are only trying to raise $20 for fun.

The money is only sent if we meet our goal.

Peace.

We are looking for 0.02btc.  This is just a test. Come on people.

Maybe Lighthouse should integrate with Changetip?  Would that help?

Looks interesting. Let's hope that due to the opensource nature, we don't see crowdfunding scams pop up.

Let's hope they are at a minimum, people are going to abuse the system no matter what and the actual projects/people who need funding usually pay the price.

OK, I downloaded it but couldn't get it started on win 32 bit.

Anyone downloaded it yet? Any opinions? I'll try to do it later today.

It would need to get a few thousands of users to get this going at the decent level.

There's a test fundraiser going on:

I'm really excited to see what projects will go viral. I expect the quickest route to popularizing Lighthouse may be childish, relatively simple and sub a BTC2.5 goal. The best decentralized projects might have to grow from the ashes of a controversial rising.

Scams are inevitable unfortunatelly. People will have to do their research before funding a project.

Hearn said in an interview that Lighthouse differs from platforms like Kickstarter for a number of reasons, including a lack of processing charges and a built-in gallery of projects.

On the latter point, Hearn suggested that project galleries should be just as decentralized as the funding element, and anticipates directories taking shape alongside a gallery he is hosting for Lighthouse initiatives.

He told CoinDesk: "Lighthouse is really only about moving money around, and I think this is going to be one of the things that people find confusing about it. It's not Kickstarter in a downloadable app that's peer to peer to peer. It's the way of handling bitcoins."
