Quote
The first half of 2019 has been an exciting time for Lightning and for Bitcoin, and in those first six months, we at Lightning Labs are excited to have released Lightning Loop, lnd v0.6-beta, our desktop Lightning App for Linux, OSX and Windows, our mobile Lightning App for Android and iOS, as well as Loop In! To begin the second half of 2019, today we’re announcing the release of lnd v0.7-beta. lnd v0.7-beta includes many improvements, most notably Watchtowers, more accurate payment tracking, more on-chain fee control, and more efficient routing. A few of the highlights are outlined below, but you can read the full release notes for further details.

The app provides a cryptic error message with no explanation or troubleshooting suggested.

Could you post a screenshot of that message? Were you connected to the same node as your friend? There might have been no nodes which could route your payment.

My friend and I downloaded the iOS app but are unable to send any funds to each other using the same app.

The app provides a cryptic error message with no explanation or troubleshooting suggested.

Separate account? Does that mean any google account or only account which paid developer fee?
I think the same account, just a new login (but I didn't try it).

OP, you're the Lightning expert. Care to make a list of Lightning software that you have used and share a short review of each?

Actually, I was thinking of creating a thread which would list all wallets (or at least the most popular ones) along with their features. However, I would have to update such thread very often. I will probably publish it in July.

What LN software would you suggest for an ambitious Lightning newbie who wants to set up a routing node in Digital Ocean? Cool

I have been using LND for a long time and I would recommend it. If you need any help with setting up a node, hit me up on Telegram or send me a private message. I can guide you through the whole process and explain everything.

I'll post back here after testing.
Update: it turns out I have to enable experimental software installations in Android, and it asks a separate login to do so. I'll wait until it's stable enough to be included in the normal Play Store before testing it.

Autopilot can be turned off but that's the only reason why anyone would want to use this wallet right now. Unlike the Linux version, one can't set the maximum amount of channels and funds which autopilot can use.

I just wonder if there's option to select specific full nodes, it would be great for those who run full nodes.

There isn't such functionality yet.

I didn't know lightning.engineering is also part of Lightning Labs (which I only know from lightning.network, which doesn't look like something the average user would read). I assume this makes it quite safe to install (I'm always careful with new software), so I'll test it later.
I already like that it says: "the app will open payment channels automatically", because until now, I haven't had the best choices of nodes, and don't really know how to decide which one to use.
I'll post back here after testing.

Lightning Labs has released a new non-custodial Lightning Network wallet for both iOS and Android. The wallet is powered by LND and neutrino which allows to verify Bitcoin transactions without having to run a full Bitcoin node. Interestingly, it supports autopilot but lacks many features that other wallets have. It's still in alpha, though. More information can be found here.
