Linux permanoob here and I suggest Ubuntu. It supported my Butterfly Labs USB devices right out of the box.  Grin

xubuntu, or any other lightweight. Hell you could even do it with arch. And as the previous member said, if you are using xubuntu, just download latest ati drivers and cgminer and you are set to go.

If you're new to Linux use Ubuntu, Xubuntu, Linux Mint or something like that, they're all pretty easy and you can find solutions only easily.

I use LinuxMint with Cinnamon Desktop

I just love package with the interface, and IRC support channel is always helpful.

Let us know what you chose/why.

Cheers!

I've used xubuntu successfully before.
Any recent x64 version of it will work just fine. From there, install the latest catalyst drivers they have available and get cgminer.
Easy.

I've also heard of a distro called BAMT. It's entire purpose is for crypto mining.
I'd personally go with xubuntu or any ubuntu flavor though. For monitoring them, I've used teamviewer, but vnc is also a really good option.
