that's just a get out of jail card for worst case scenario. I'm sure it will release and all will be fine.

However all ICO are pretty much scams waiting to happen. Lisk did have a broad investment base so is less likely a scam than most ico.

Let's hope all ico die out soon and we get back to some fair transparent POW launches where everyone gets a fair chance to get coins at the same level as everyone else.

POW= best/fairest form of initial distribution.

Lisk ICO - BTC & XCR Refunds
As described in our ICO Terms and on our ICO Website, XCR depositors were eligible for a refund until the April 18th, 2016. Nobody contacted us in order to get a refund, therefore we will only send back Bter’s 2,500,000 XCR.

sure sure
i am i reading this right?
ZERO not 1 single XCR depositor wanted refunding?

i am not up to speed / don't care to waste my time on ICO gooobbly glop talk
but if Lisk is just basically XCR redux; managed by the same PR dude who brought you NXT and XCR ICOs;
then there ought be an exchange of 100% of XCR chain gets a stake in this new project ... see CLAM for complex snap shots

It has absolutely nothing to do with NXT as far as I know.

"INVESTMENT" rhymes "security" which gives an equity position, and creates a legal debt;
also subject to legal process, license, regulatory authority (in any jurisdiction).

Which if l'RISK is serious about being a multi-million project then best to just go ahead and register as legit security ... say 1/10 a penny per share ... they can do it in Isle of Man, Panama, or any back water that will look the other way mostly.

Is there any public profile on directors?
A physical office?

If you take the terms at face value;
explicitly describing it as a "donation" means explicitly NO equity position.

I think they're just playing on a safe way , they don't want people to focus on the word "INVESTMENT". Oh btw here is the meaning of investment, An investment is an asset or item that is purchased with the hope that it will generate income or appreciate in the future. In short, it's 50/50 if you will generate income into this.

I actually don't think they intend to scam / are scammers, they're most likely not, it's just that this is a little weird. Why can't it be a proper crowdsale, why must it be donations?

I guess they don't want to draw the attention of various financial and regulatory organizations. No such issues with donations, even folks from the States can buy into... errr... donate money and get their stuff.

And not only that, explicitly describing it as a "donation" is a way to fend off angry-guy lawsuits that the broker folks describe as "sour-grapes cases." That's why so many brokerage firms require you to press any claims through an arbitration network rather than with an outright lawsuit.

Because it would be illegal in most countries

Because there is a lawer as team member so they know how to weasle out from all of these legal obstacles.

On the other side they placed enough skin into the game to gain some trust. Stuff will most probably take longer as advertised to archive anything. I for myself even am doubtful if mere "investment" is enough to gain some monetary value from their endeavor. Getting active and implementing some decentralized application on their platform, on the other hand, should archive that.

PS: suggestions what to implement are very welcome

So if they decide to take my investment and not deliver (for whatever reason), they're fine! Nothing's gonna happen, cause they said it all in the first place.

They could literally take all the money and say good bye without any issues by any means

That's why I don't trust most, if any ICO whatsoever, they are always somewhat shady. I was going to invest on this think for a quick pump and dump to improve my Bitcoin holdings, but I doubted that I would even be able to deliver that. I mean the coin hasn't even reached Poloniex yet! and we are already having all those threads that should make any holder worry.
