Another spam bot account:
username: Fatherofpaypal

I want to add this, but I don't know if this promoting style is allowed because he keeps making a new thread with the same content with a little changes.

Look at this post history https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/fatherofpaypal-2192882;sa=showPosts

Almost all post are the same in the different section.

Is it allowed to do this thing? If he promotes this type of service he should only bump the thread once a day?

Theymos put that in his 'maybe' camp. I doubt it will be implemented on this forum but maybe on the new one.

The new forum software coming in 2061? I got the impression from that post that most of the things in the OK list were very unlikely to happen within a year or so.

Yep that one. At least he's working on it and it will be here eventually.

My pessimism aside the rest of your post I would agree with. The best way to stop bots is to remove the financial incentive that brings them here.

Some say pessimism others say realism. Things just don't really get implemented around here, even simple/quick fixes. I'm hoping theymos will actually elaborate on his latest comment a bit more. It probably would take a few minutes to assign some more mods and/or admins here. Same with creating certain sub boards.

From theymos' list the following were in the 'no' camp:

Quote
Require at least one merit to become a Junior Member

Remove signatures completely from everyone (or everyone only has a basic signature) and to get one you either need a very high amount of activity & merit or:
B) Buy them via new donator ranks (theymos did initially comment: "This may be a good idea. Though I do think that people who don't pay should be able to get a small signature." [though Newbie signatures have been removed completely since this comment was made]).

Well it was actually the No. Or not yet. Or the idea would need to be significantly modified camp so I have a glimmer of hope that some of them may be implemented eventually, but I'm not optimistic. The Junior merit requirement and/or removing their signature seems essential to me and I can't understand why he is against it. It solves so many issues and isn't restrictive at all. Many staff and other members seems to back it as well so hopefully he will clarify the reasons why soon.

But in the 'OK' camp:

Quote
Enforce the sig campaign guidelines. If a campaign is spotted that is doing little to nothing and is abused en mass by spammers, farmers, bots and copy and pasters they are warned. If nothing changes then they are punished with such things as bans, threads trashed, signatures blacklisted site-wide etc.

Signature bans. Bans that remove the signature for x amount of time or even permanently (actually proposed by theymos but never followed up on). Being able to blacklist an entire campaign's signature would also be helpful for those campaigns that refuse to do anything about spam.

Maybe those are the ones to push for.

Nuked, thanks.
Will this ever end?
I mean, nuking, banning them will only temporarily patch the issue.
Can you do something to the current registration requirement to block these bots from making new accounts? Although they can manually make accounts to bypass it, it could decrease the rate of the growing number of registrations.

They are fighting the intensive moderation with numbers.

There's a very simple method that many other forums employ. Every new user's first post has to be manually approved by staff before it is published. That is very effective in stopping spambots and only a minor inconvenience to genuine new users. It is also something that theymos doesn't want to do so we'll just have to put up with the spambots.

Theymos put that in his 'maybe' camp. I doubt it will be implemented on this forum but maybe on the new one. Bots will always be a part of the internet and this forum, but there are ways to curb their usage. I think we need to look at preventing the ones that are getting paid to be here right now as that can't be acceptable. If we don't do anything about that then they are only going to become more prevalent, especially when there's handsome rewards in it for them. The first thing we can do is remove signatures from Juniors at least and make them require some merit to become one. This is essential in my opinion. Bots cannot be getting paid here to copy and paste. It was bad enough with all the generic shitposters coming here but we can't win a war against bots, not when you can easily create unlimited amounts of them very easily and for free and they can get paid to do so. It doesn't matter to them if they have 100 of them banned because there's possibly hundreds or thousands more that will carry on and continue to get paid. Losing a handful or hundreds of bots will just become an occupational hazard to them and that can't be ok.  It they can't have a signature and require some sort of merit then it will be a huge spanner in the works for them and without merit they'll get nowhere very fast.

if they are really bot, they will be replaced quite fast with new accounts, perhaps would be better to start to think of a more effective way to defeat them. Banning the account is just a momentary solution.

I found a list of spam bots where all accounts are posting the same content with little changes.

When I was searching on google about debit cards I found 2 threads with the same content so I decided to investigate these accounts and then I caught that there are more accounts posting the same content.

It looks like they are using spinner and GSA ranker to post here in the forum just to promote a scam website.

This is the scam website that I'm talking about.

List of accounts

I believe that there are many accounts connected with this scam website. So, I'll update this thread as soon as I found a new accounts.

I hope admin will take action about this and I feel that there are many internet marketers online abuse this forum.

I heard that they are using our forum as a parasite website (as backlinks) and my guess they are using GSA to blasting a massive amount of spam links that I think could hurt our forum rankings.

Delete the account then search again, the more found, the further the web is from spam, this thread is very useful because it will show that there are no fraudulent accounts like this and will scare new fraudsters who will join this forum
