The most famous - dafuq coin.

Anyway I always test new altcoin wallets in virtual machine for at least a few days, no problems so far.

That was one of the true cases of a wallet containg malware that was designed to steal your coins.

are you joking with that list? you can check source before you creat your wallet so....

I posted screenshots.  'Nuff said.

And out of 191 wallets for different coins I've got installed, they're the only three I got a virus warning from.  I don't care what's in the source files, I care what's in the files someone posts for me to download to use their coin.

Just because your antivirus gave you a warning does NOT mean you are infected or the wallet contains malware. Most antivirus will flag many wallets with a false positive because of the heuristic detection of the wallet mining functionality. Wallets containing true malware are rare as long as they are downloaded from the original announcement page. You should only download wallets from the original announcement page and it's always good to check with a site like virustotal.com before running any executable and/or use a test machine. After scanning a number of wallets you will realize most of the wallets reported as containing malware are nothing more than false positives and you have nothing to worry about.

Very true. The dev has the duty to ensure the file he provides is virus free.

I am surprised to see only 3 out of 191 clients have viruses in them. OP should scan wallets with malwarebytes, I imagine you will find a few more with trojans in them.

this was a package download from a link placed on the official coin thread?

Yes.  I downloaded all three of them from the links they posted in their announcement threads.

Before running anything you download you should scan the .exe file with www.virustotal.com.

There are probably more altcoins infected with viruses and trojans which are undetectable. It will really all depends on the type on antivirus you are using. I'm using avira but never got a warning when I ran University Coin and Bones Coin on my computer.

Thought there should be a dedicated thread for this in case there isn't.  So far I've found three altcoins infected with viruses.  Please add to the thread so that members of the community don't end up losing our wallets or suffering damages to our computers.

1) University Coin

I ran it without a conf and never got a virus warning, once I ran it with the conf file I got a virus warning.

2) Arkenstone

I get a virus warning about the "arkenstoned.exe" file.  Wallet seems to run fine without the infected file, but I don't think I'll be mining or collecting these either.

3) Bones Coin

Ran it before today and never got a virus warning.  For some reason today I got the warning.
