I mean spending the time going through their posts and linking the ETH addresses they're using to defraud campaigns. I've already found a couple of alt rings just from seeing odd things on the recent merits page. Previously I would have seen putting that effort in as pointless, whereas now I think it can actually reduce spam eventually if we catch enough of them.

Well, if you believe that what you are looking for will benefit the general public, and you can collect the information without using special access, I would live to talk to you about adding your information to BPIP.

You can't self moderate in the meta section

What does that have to do with detecting fraud and making the info public???

Quoted the wrong post,

new thread.

I never spent any time looking for them before as they could just easily start again and soon rank up their new accounts.

There is no need to spend any time looking for them.  Theymos has made the system open and public.   Within the next week, BPIP will be identifying possible abusers and make it easier for them to be removed as a source, or punished for sending merit when it is not appropriate.

You can't self-moderate threads in Meta, though these sorts of threads more likely belong in Reputation than here to be honest. I've said it before but I think people are going to spend more time hunting for merit abusers than actually giving it in the first place. The system was introduced to stop people leaving negative feedback on spammers, but now the same people are just going to get it for merit abusing instead.

It may be an unintended consequence but the merit system has made finding alts cheating campaigns much easier to find as they can't resist the temptation to farm merit as well. I never spent any time looking for them before as they could just easily start again and soon rank up their new accounts. Now it's going to be much harder for them I think it's worth the effort if I can put a few higher ranked spammers out of business.

The old topic did NOT have any good formatting, taking the advice from others posted on the thread, I think we should all follow the universal format of this: originally posted by pugman

I suggest you lock this thread (while it is still has just a couple posts) and recreate it self-moderated.  Then you can delete all the useless comments like post #2, #3 and this one.  Smiley  Make the posts only about abusing - and force people to stay on format.

It will make it easier to parse this info later using scripts.

Sorry may be not related question I understood the guidelines but how can we earn merit?

By making posts worthy of merit.

Also to add on, reserve post #2 in the new self moderated thread to add the reports and let the OP only state about the general information about the reports.
