I won't even try to put some funds in there. I know that TONcoin boasts a lot with it features and then so its wallet is attached to that boast and then will make everyone seem to care and excited about it. But you know what? If you're going to have a discussion about this wallet on the forum, you'll see a lot of us are not optimistic about it. Why? Because they're even swarmed by scammers that are using their own platform and they don't do a lot to stop it. Such policies need for them to strictly apply but we don't see anything from them. Although they have some reporting feature if ever a concerned citizen finds one. And that's why if they're like that with their platform, how much more with the feature they have that includes financial matter like this wallet feature they have? Seems like a more favorable thing for the people living in there that uses it for their tricks.

There are even wallets with better mobility and improved security compared to Telegram bots. This service is undeniably risky, even if your intention is to store a small amount of money... it's not a good recommendation to follow. As long as there's no policing of scams that are quite common on Telegram, this app still lacks high trustworthiness when it comes to storing money.

Let's stop promoting these dangerous things... people who are unaware of the risks associated with Telegram bots might fall victim. i really dislike when someone continues to share harmful things that can be used by others.

Telegram = safe heaven for scammers.
Telegram wallet = scam wallet.

So, why are you referring to the Telegram wallet? We have a lot of non-custodial wallets, and many of them are highly trusted, like Electrum. Before posting anything in the forum, make sure it is safe to use. Otherwise, don't suggest anything or promote anything here.

In is a very stupid thing to add a wallet in one of the most favorite apps used by scammers. That just makes it easier for them to social-engineer you out of that money by compromising your Telegram account.

Whoever thought this would be a good idea? Huh

Also if you lose access to your Telegram account (i.e. your phone), you lose everything inside the wallet - not so non-custodial, now is it?

The idea of having a wallet integrated with the Telegram app may seem exciting to Telegram users who do not have much experience with Crypto and do not know the difference between a custodial wallet and non-custodial wallet. They believe that this wallet will enable them to simply send and receive cryptocurrencies without any problems.

But as for the forum, I think that most members do not welcome the idea, firstly because the user does not have a wallet seed, secondly because of privacy, and thirdly because Telegram is full of scammers and trolls who never stop coming up with new methods to deceive users.

Using wallet for security and safety purpose on such third party app (messaging app) is a no-no move for me and even for the majority. Messaging app should stick to its purpose (messaging, notification alerts) having multiple feature is prone to hacking, scamming, bugs, and many more.

As far as I know, Telegram is created and still owned by Russians. I don't think they care much about the SEC.
I don't think Pavel Durov lives in Russia, and country of Russia was blocking and banning Telegram for years.
SEC can always order for Telegram ban or cnesorship like it happened in this countries:

    2 Bahrain
    3 Belarus
    4 Brazil
    5 China
    6 Cuba
    7 Czech Republic

    12 Iran

I heard about telegram wallet but I never used it.
They use some weird closed source encryption, and I wouldn't trust it as crypto wallet, unless if it's for popcorn money.

They did have some trouble with the SEC[1][2] and had to distance themselves from the TON project but apparently that's over now[3]?

@wallet was around for quite some time but as a Bot users had to add. As of a couple of weeks ago, it's now integrated into Telegram:

According to my findings, BTC, USDT and Ton are supported. Is that true?.
Where did you find information about BTC and USDT?

What else is interesting to me: how will SEC react to @wallet? I remember telegram had some problems with them.

When I initiated the wallet bot it showed a video with this graphic.

When I actually tried to set up a wallet they asked me to verify my number, which is a US based VoIP number, and then got an error message saying this feature isn’t supported in my region. I guess their solution to avoiding SEC scrutiny is to prevent US users from using their wallet.

With the help of the said wallets you can easily send TON crypto to other users within the telegram app.
Why would I want that?
Sounds very nice for telegram scammers.
Without a doubt. It is enough to register "without a SIM card and log in using blockchain-powered anonymous numbers" -
https://telegram.org/blog/ultimate-privacy-topics-2-0.
And then you won’t find a single scammer.

--> Remember: these wallets are custodial so keeping huge amount of fund is not recommended.
This is one of the worst wallets that are existing. People should totally avoid it.
Telegram has a huge customer base and I am sure that many will use this wallet. Do you think people will install a third party wallet when there is one already built into this app? Of course not. And those who are far from the topic of cryptocurrencies will definitely do this. They are simply not informed enough and will think that using "Telegram in-app wallet" is normal. But you and I know that this is not so.

The advice for not to hold high amount of coins on a wallet is about online versus offline wallets, that it is better to have low amount of coins on online wallet. For custodial wallets, they are not your keys, they are not recommended at all.
And how are you going to convey this information to telegram users? It seems to me that this battle is already lost.

For small amount of bitcoin on online wallets, you can use Electrum, Sparrow or Bluewallet.
For USDT, you can use Unstoppable wallet.

I will not also recommend it for their shit Ton.
Here on this forum, we all know about this, but millions of housewives who use telegram don't.Smiley

I think everyone here must be having a telegram messenger account. Telegram recently integrates crypto wallets for TON coins (native crypto of Toncoin blockchain). With the help of the said wallets you can easily send TON crypto to other users within the telegram app.

--> Remember: these wallets are custodial so keeping huge amount of fund is not recommended.

As of now the list is small. Wallets are:

1:  @wallet
2: @cryptobot

These are basically officially recommended telegram bot app wallet you can simply add them just like you join a telegram channel. After adding the wallet it will start appearing in the "attach" symbol.
