Hi everybody, just wanted to ask - I woudlike to start mining litecoin I do have xeon processor but looking for a good graphic card with good gpu (and what psu do I need) Whats should I buy (I'm looking for good price and perf) can anybody tell me how many W card takes when mining ? All I want to know is it worth. I pay about 0.05 $ for kWh

Thanks Smiley

lol dude you were under a rock for sur,e because oyu can't mine litecoin with a cpu and not even with graphic gpu, you need asic, like the new bitmain L3 scrypt asic which is a beast with 500mh of hash at only $1k and 800watt of consumption, the calculator say a generation of 0.025 bitcoin per day and this is much more than the antminer s9, that can do only 0.006 per day

I definitely agree with them on this, mining scrypt coins with cpu/gpu is not worth the effort.
Use your xeon processor for CPU only coins and your GPU for GPU coins.
Depending on your power costs you might make a profit.
If not and you still want to mine, than pick coins you think will go up in value so that you can make a profit later one.

As someone who tried mining Litecoin using a GPU just like you are planning to do, I would like to state that it is not worth it. Most people are using ASICs which can beat out any Graphics Card.
I ended up switching to mining Ethereum and Cryptonote currencies (mostly Monero) because that was more profitable without an ASIC.

So, my advice for you would be to either get an ASIC or switch to other currencies because LTC is not worth the effort with a graphics card.

I'm not moderator.
You can move this thread yourself.
See the down left corner of the page that says "Move topic".

With GPU mining you should consider Ethereum or Zcash for example.

Litecoin is based on scrypt algorithm.
Scrypt mining today is pretty much only viable with ASIC hardware, like for example Antminer L3, A4 Dominator (Innosilicon)...

Also this is not about Bitcoin mining, so this belongs to the altcoin section.
