I have decided to invest in some LTC to hold on to and hope the prices rises in the years to come, nothing too much just a little that's within my means.

I downloaded the Litecoin wallet from Litecoin.org, but curious about two items:

1) Buying LTCs
-- What is a safe exchange to buy LTCs from?
-- Are there more than one so I can shop the best price?

2) Free LTCs
--Are there any faucets for LTCs out there?

I don't think I need to ask about mining LTCs as all I am working with is a laptop and not too interested in investing in some new HW at this time..

1) Bitfinex.
2) Most of them give less then a penny.. not worth the time.

I normally deposit USD into CampBX, then buy BTC and transfer them to BTC-e and buy LTC.

Litecoinlocal.org is an option as well, as mentioned above.

If you do the math for BTC or LTC the faucet works out to not even 2 cents per transaction. If you look at the amount of time involved such as entering a horribly distorted Captcha 7 times before you get it right, it's not worth the time.

Other people might say a faucet is a great thing....

Thank you for the reply.  I did Google but I posted on here to help weed out some of the scam or useless sites (for either an exchange or faucet).

1)
Canada - Vaultofsatoshi.com (deposit by debit in person, cheque)
Overseas - btc-e.com (deposit by bank deposit or one of many questionable exchange services)
US - cryptsy.com (if you like their laggy engine - no US cash deposit yet) or litetree.com
Ebay - if you want to pay higher prices (Paypal friendly for the buyer anyway)

There is also a site where you can meet up with people in person, sort of like Localbitcoins but solely for LTC. Can't remember the URL.

Most of the prices will equal out to within pennies except Ebay which can be 150% higher markup.

2) Did you even Google?
