I mine both, I have a bunch of machines, but the core two types are the Bitmain S5's for Bitcoin and the InnoSilicon Terminator 110's for Litecoin.  Here are my thoughts:

Bitcoin is more stable and more predictable in terms of long term change - primarily because so many people are mining it.  The next generation of ASIC's are out, and the biggest difference they bring is efficiency, so unless something radical comes down the pipe, most of the modern hardware is good.  There are a ton of pools to choose from, including some that don't charge any fees at all AND give you the transaction fees also, which is pretty cool.

I primarily do multicoin mining with my Terminators, so Litecoin or others depending on what the pool selects.  This represents probably the biggest difference in terms of mining with the two boxes - there are short term opportunities to mine other coins and make better than typical returns.  Unfortunately, things like coinwarz don't really paint all the picture, so it takes more work than just looking at their main page, but I've gotten as much as 6x of Litecoin by mining altcoins.  Litecoin and other altcoins are far more volatile, so it can be feast sometimes and famine others - right now it's almost the same profit wise with an S5 and 110's with my power costs subtracted - but before the halving I was making substantially more (obviously) with the scrypt miners.  One more plus for scrypt is that you can still solomine some altcoins, which I find to be pretty fun to do - you couldn't even dream of doing that with BTC.

I convert almost immediately into bitcoin, which is the base crypto I work with, so either using one of the exchanges or Shapeshift.io (which I love).  I've even mined some coins directly to Shapeshift, which you can't do with most of the exchanges, but on the flip side the exchanges support far more types of coins.

My personal advice, diversify and mine both if you can - it certainly won't hurt, and then you'll be able to take advantage of changes in the markets.  Plus you can get in on more new coins and check out their evolution, which is also very interesting.  Anyway, hope that helps!

Yes , you should mine LTC!

I believe LTC is still a very good coin to mine. It has a solid trading volume on exchanges and an acceptable steady price.

I think that the price of litecoin fluctuaties more than bitcoin. The roi of bitcoin mining is easyer to predict.

The price halved since the block halving.
Litecoin originally has it's own algorithm and hardware to exercise that algorithm.
You need to purchase two different devices to mine each individually.
Difficulty has stayed straight at ~40k so mining hasn't gotten easier with the $2 drop in price. So no, don't mine litecoin, unless something changes, either mining difficulty or the price has to raise.

Litecoin has the second biggest (and secure) blockchain. so that has value. not as much as bitcoin but to be number two is good enough  Wink

this is why Bitcoin is Gold and Litecoin is Silver  Smiley
