To safely store your crypto, the best way is to use a hardware wallet. Check out this guide for the best litecoin wallet for Android (and iOS too!): https://coolwallet.io/litecoin-wallet-guide/

I use coinomi but just for small amounts, I don't deem a cellphone safe enough to store a big amount of coins.

If you want to only use mobile you can use coinomi, but i can not truest to software wallets only and If you want to be rest and your assets be in health you can use hardware wallets. one the best harware wallets fo LTC and other coins is Ledger Nano S.

Coinomi is really good one supporting Litecoin, it is safer than jaxx because its technique of storing private keys is much safer and hard to be hacked for me. It is no doubt the best.

I am running Electrum (for Bitcoin wallet) along with Google Authenticator on a factory reset Android phone (which I no longer use as a phone).  It's the only two apps I have installed on it and I put it in Airplane mode right after using it.

This seems to be a pretty safe way to have a cold wallet right?  I'd think anyways.

I was wondering which is the best wallet for Litecoin on the Android, if there is one?

I am use Ledger Nano S and I high recommend it .. if you are looking for mobile wallet .. I am not recommend it but any way you can find more info here

Any wallet that is not connected to internet is safe. about what is best litecoin wallet for android devices. i think the best wallets are coinomi, jaxx and loafwallet. I dont use those wallet because i have no plans to hold altcoins for long term but those wallet are the most recommended to hold not just for litecoin but also for other cryptocurrency except loafwallet which is for litecoin only.
I've heard some wallets are giving an ability to the users able to take their private key from the application itself. Jaxx and coinomi did it.
It doesn't matter how many coins have been stored in your mobile wallet as long as you can get your dat file or private key and you will be safe.

Coinomi is very good as it supports different pairs or crypto and Litecoin as well. You can also follow this link and find the information about the best wallets for alts and LTC- https://captainaltcoin.com/best-litecoin-wallets/

I read coinomi is no longer fully open source, is this true?  Is there any litecoin wallet for android which is secure and 100% opensource?  What if coinomi has some hidden code which at a later date simultaneously steals the entire contents of everyone's wallets?

Best litecoin wallet for android is coinbase wallet app,but i won't say it is completely safe like other paper or software wallet. But it will be a handy app since it is very comfortable to use.You can also buy litecoins using fiat currency through coinbase.

If you want to upgrade the security level of coinbase wallet we have 2FA authentication so your coins will be safe.

Yes I also use Coinomi on my phone for a few Alternative coins including Litecoin.
Its very simple to use and has the added benefit of allowing users to store their private keys.
I have moved the wallet to a different phone with the private keys without difficulty and I have also used the SWEEP WALLET function
to claim forked bitcoin tokens, BCH and BTG, without issue.

There's couple wallets that support litecoin for Android! I believe Coinomi is the best! It has nice security, your private keys stay on your device, it's interface is user friendly. Apart from being secure, Coinomi is also focused on privacy, and allows almost instant exchange between different cryptocoins. If something happens to your phone they have the option for you to get your wallet back on another phone using the recovery seed.
