Hi guys, I'm posting here because I discovered this thread when I had this problem and I'm sure others will in future.
I tried numerous fixes over a few months but only this worked for me:

click Start and type %appdata%, then click on Roaming
Open the Litecoin folder and COPY YOUR WALLET.DAT to desktop
Uninstall Litecoin
This doesn't delete the info from the Litecoin folder in Roaming so, again, click Start, type %appdata%, then click on Roaming
Delete the Litecoin folder
Reinstall latest version of Litecoin for your OS from Litecoin.org
click Start and type %appdata%, click on Roaming
Copy wallet.dat from desktop into new Litecoin folder
Start Litecoin

Hope this helps!
Cheers

Nevermind! Once the client caught up with the block chain, my litecoins popped up. Thanks again.

Glad I could give some hints that put you on the right track. Smiley

Thanks a bunch! Tho after messing around with the Litecoin folder in AppData, it wound up being the blk00001.dat and blkindex.dat that were the problem..tho now i have 0 LTC..i remeber specifically having about 200..do you think updating my litecoin client wouldve had anything to do with it?

First, backup your wallet.dat if you haven't, as that's what actually holds your coins.  Then, try renaming it to something like "wallet_test.dat".  If the wallet starts up, this may mean your wallet.dat is corrupted and causing the program to crash.

The file is in your Data directory, probably the same as that but replacing with "Litecoin"

So I've had this problem for several months, but I've given up on it for quite a while. Now that I see how much LTC is worth, I figure I ought to access my 200 LTC I mined many months ago.
But I've tried everything to solve this error I keep getting:

"This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way."

I've tried:
Reinstalling the 2010 64-bit C++ Libraries
Uninstalling and updating my Litecoin wallet client
Clean booting

I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit, and so far nothing has worked. Is there anything left I could do?

Same here if anyone could help that'll be gr8
