well it is April 3rd ....not looking too good for litecointalk....I wonder if "The Mage" and the rest just said 'screw it' ?

(again my view is when the hacker found out (he had GOD access) he 'flushed' the site.....


but looking 'kinda' dire ..in my no idea what it entails to keep something like this up and safe

will continue to 'lurk' and wait I guess

Site still down I drop by there from time to time for a giggle, Google told me to check out this thread.

I guess the hacker was one of the 4 admins of their forum and the link doesn't opens anyways,maybe they need some time to get back online.

Loll..how can the administrator not have access to the database ? or do you mean to say only one senior admin has control over it & not all the four ?

no idea all I know is it is the TOP thiing you can  get for an account...same clasification as THE MAGE who runs the site and only 4 such when you do a search.

in my case I just changed my password here so as long as you are not using the same password for both I'd think you'd be ok

I heard from an admin that the admin accounts DON'T  have access to PM's there...but I'm still unsure again if 1) the proper folk have taken the site down to fix security issues

or 2) the hacker with the super admin powers flushed the works and the proper folk are putting it back together again

one or the other I guess

others can chime on here but I think as long as your password on here is not the same you are ok ....but others on here with more skills may have other concerns I'm overlooking

are other account compromised by this attack? i have an account there that it is related with this forum, not the same password hopefully, but it still concern me

Well looks bad for litecointalk.org ..the site has been down today.

one of 2 reasons imho

1) they had to take the site down to fix/repair the security issues due to the hacked admin account.

 This is as I stated above in the previous post on this thread ....the Carnth Administrator Account  (1 of only 4 of the top administrator sites) on www.litecointalk.org was hacked.

Another administrator there sent me a PM that it had been hacked.

or

2) With the posting/exposure of the hack..due to the nature of the highest administrator powers of the account the hacker got into (along with the 'newbie' accounts)

He took control of the site and 'flushed' the works and the current 'real' administrators are putting the site backups up now with better security and such after the fact


Well I lost 110 LTC on this on a Titan cube train....hell ... 'At least I got 'Dinner and a Movie' out of all this

Hopefully it is just a 'site' re-do to stop this from happening again

 
 Well it seems one of only 4 of the top Administrator accounts was hacked. Which means likely the whole

 www.litecointalk.org site has been comprimised. In that this is one of only four top accounts there.


 So be aware and change your password here if it is the same and of course there.

  So far it is this account and all the newbie accounts.

 You can follow the thread there.

 I just posted this for folk who use the same password on both sites so their accounts won't be hacked.

Not sure if it is just me or not. I'm down 110 LTC for a supposed Titan cube.

I have a few ways to look at this loss....I can take it as an equip loss with taxes...that is 25% off over 5 years with 50% of the 25% the first year (about $285 at the LTC price moved at)

I can look at it as what it was 'worth' more or less at the time I saw it ($385) instead

I can look at the time loss it took me to make 110 LTC at 715mh with the Titans etc (and the 2 cubes I did get thru litecointalk  w/o issue from another guy) ie 2 weeks miner loss I
mine at about 55 or so LTC a week.


or I can look at it from the view of what it costs me to MINE LTC vs Electricity use a month ..in that I've ROI'd at around (electric to coin) of 97.7c per LTC

I of course am going to 'lie like a rug to myself' and just bemoan the almost 110 bucks it cost me to mine such and the 2 week loss or a bit less with equip loss off taxes

whatever floats my boat thru the tears (serves me right thou ..all my other deals on here and litecointalk have been good to me and flawless)

whatever.....so anyway the way the mob flops at least I did not BUY the LTC before I got this instead (shudder..)
