That's really insane. Here in India, they brought new regulations to limit our income by imposing special restrictions on PayPal and stuff without much reasons.

I bet it's all in the name of fighting fraud and money laundering and hoarding.

Crimea is a victim of a big game that Putin is playing. He wanted that piece of land and hi got it but now everyone hates it. They don't hate Putin and don't put restrictions on Russia, but they block Crimea. It's sad to watch.

Indeed. Most countries can't just slap restrictions on Russia. With Crimea, they can simply say they don't recognize its current status. I wouldn't be surprised if they actually make life harder there to punish Russia and maybe coax the locals to continue fighting.

This is very sad. I think they won't unblock you, so you should move to another platform.
Even better, put down a good SEO strategy to make interested people visit your website and then contact you by email or telegram.
Upwork decides firmly so if they've said that there's no way for you to negotiate them or reconsider their decision of blocking or banning you, they won't really do that.

They are one of the world's known freelancing platform because they've been securing payment for their freelancers but it's not the end, there are still good platforms out there as I've said.

In recent years, I am mainly in the Crimea. It is not very warm here, like in Costa Rica. But so sunny and lower prices in shops.

And so I get a message from Upwork:

- Your account is blocked, because the IP you are writing from, is located in a territory prohibited by US law.

Here it is!

VPN did not help me - they recognized him.

Now I have difficulty finding a job.

Why do politicians prevent ordinary artisans, like me, from quietly earning a living?

Thank you for reading to the end.

The thing you have to do is find a friend in the USA, one who you can trust with all of your private info, and let him do your internet stuff through his USA ISP. You might have to be in contact with him any time he is online for you, so that you can tell him what to do for you immediatly as you need it done.

I've heard a lot of sad stories with upwork and there's nothing you can do now but to accept it and move on through looking for a new platform to work with.

Take a look from this list: https://financesonline.com/top-20-freelance-websites-for-beginners-and-professionals/

What if your fortune is with any of those platforms? good luck Many Coins on your freelancing career.

And FSS (ФCБ) everywhere, unlike Costa Rica

VPN did not help me - they recognized him.

What kind of VPN you're using? They can detect most SSH tunnels from openvpn.

Also, they know your original IP (they have login history, ta da), so you should try to register new account with vpn.

Now I have difficulty finding a job.

 Cry

Бидa бидa, кaкoй yжac. Зaтo бeз пpoклятыx бaндepoвцeв, и млaдeнцы цeлы и cтapyшки эпилeптички нe изнacилoвaны. И дeды нa пaлкe c пaмятникoм Лeнинa. Paзвe нe пoвoд paдoвaтьcя?

That's so sad.
It is very frustrating when you face sanctions for things you are not to be blamed. Innocent people like you suffer from their political games and they deprive you the chance to make a living.

I don't think its acceptable. Of course, we can earn on how we wanted it to make, the thing is you are blocked because of your IP address? Here in our country, my cousin can freely earn money because of Upwork. He can live with it and he can earn more than we can earn outside our house to seek a job. Actually, he is in Upwork more than 7years if I am not mistaken. Try using another PC or internet connection to create another account.

I think this is something that has been ongoing for sometime now. Check here - https://www.treasury.gov/resource-center/sanctions/Programs/Documents/ukraine_eo4.pdf

Are you saying that you've been working on upwork and you live in Crimea and you've lost out on work. Or that you just signed up and you can't get any more work?

These restrictions are sad and should be removed right away, why don’t you choose fiver or better yet check out the service section here and find some jobs.

That's really insane. Here in India, they brought new regulations to limit our income by imposing special restrictions on PayPal and stuff without much reasons.

Although I know upwork never reconsiders its decisions, I do think that your block is temporary though, assuming you don't actually live as "permanent residence" of the prohibited place and if you can explain to them about the situation.

Really? I heard people in India are getting really low wages and you're saying they want to keep them low? This is such a bullshit.
In the EU governments love to tax the rich and the main policy is to give to the poor what you can steal from the rich, which is also bullshit IMO.

It seems Upwork is hell bent on removing low earning countries, from what I know Indians barely earn good from upwork because their work is not considered quality in comparison to EU and US sellers. However when I switch to fiver I see many Indian sellers making good money, hence I feel you two could use fiver to make more money.

This isn't some policy relating to UpWork, this is a government policy relating to sanctions. As I'm assuming Russia is sanctioned heavily by the US (which in turn, causes US businesses to not be able to work with Crimea, as they are now a Russian territory)

So yeah. Don't blame upwork here.

The reason is simple, Upwork went public a few months ago on Nasdaq in New York and since Crimea is not recognised by the US goverment they wanted to comply with the regulation once they got publicly traded.

After reviewing your webpage, I could recommend switching you gmail account to protonmail or something more neutral before it gets banned too.

Thats my 5 cents
