Well, I figured out that someone from the the netherlands logged into my email account and then changed my localbitcoins password and then turned off 2 factor authentication. They have a 2 week waiting period and then they send an email stating that the 2 weeks is up, thats how i caught it.

So, do I have anything to worry about? this happened on oct. 7th, It could have something to do with the security issues that this site had. but I changed my password and enabled 2FA on my email account. Im just worried that they may have access to my computer, could they have injected anything to my computer by just having access to my email account?

I think I've closed the holes, but want to make sure my computer (mac) is safe..

Thanks

My guess is may be they were just checking to see if you intend to use that account. They might be cleaning accounts with no activity and sent these emails to see who still wants to keep an account there and who doesn't. If you're still worried about your computer being effected then I suggest you do a clean re-install of the OS.

I have an account at local btc and have never used it, I just have for "just in case" I dont have any coins in my account either. I have 2FA set up. I received an email today saying  that its been 2 weeks since I requested that I have my 2FA turned off, well, I never asked for that. So I went in and changed my password and made sure my 2FA was still on, and it was. It was also correct in the time that I last logged in,, approx a month ago.

So, what could have happened? I never click on any type of links that im not 100 percent sure that is safe, I dont use windows. I submitted a ticket asking what could have happened. But it looks like someone tried to turn off my 2FA. What scares me is if I had a ton of coins on the account and I didn't happen to look at my email, the 2fa could have been turned off. Im just wondering what methods were used and how did they get to the point of trying to remove the 2FA..

This has taught me a few things. ALWAYS use 2FA and never hold too many coins on any site.. Im just worried that my computer could still be effected somehow.

Any hints or help?
